Chapter 322 - Chapter 322: The Third Symbiotic Bond

As the mutated Qurio injected all of the life energy they had refined and stored into the scales, and it was then absorbed by Logan's energy circulation, some of the mutated Qurio thus lost their vitality. Their wings turned almost gray-white and transparent as they fell from Logan's body.

As for the mutated Qurio that had not lost their lives, they were now also barely breathing. They were desperately flapping their wings, wobbling around beside Logan, looking as if a single gust of wind could blow them away.

In less than ten seconds, these mutated Qurio completed their mission and flew away from Logan's body.

Counting carefully, the mutated Qurio, which had already lost nearly one third on the way, had now lost more than half outright!

Even so, the huge mother insect that had been flying in the air showed not the slightest sorrow. Instead, it gently flew to Logan's feet, folded its wings, and quietly pressed itself against Logan's claw, like a pendant.

"What… what is going on here, meow!"

Muskmelon, who had been staying in Logan's nest together with the Ancient Wyverian prophet and the others, looked at this scene, and her little brain could not quite understand it.

But as the strange sensation on her head appeared once again, she did not even need the other cats to remind her to know that that insect had once more run onto her head to be an ornament.

"Is it stuck to me for good, meow?" Muskmelon was on the verge of tears.

Logan's body gave a shake. The scales that had been bitten by the mutated Qurio scattered with a burst of metallic clattering, letting out ding-ding-dang-dang sounds, and the membrane hidden beneath the scales rapidly swelled and hardened, regrowing into new scales in a very short time.

Looking at the mutated Qurio mother that, because of his movement, had taken flight again yet was still circling and fluttering right beside him, Logan seemed to understand what they had done and also had some guesses about their origin.

After all, this behavior of absorbing and refining energy and then supplying it to the host regardless of life or death was far too distinctive.

Moreover, a trait that had always been there yet had a very low sense of presence was once again flashing on the void panel, making it impossible for Logan not to look at it.

[Symbiosis: Slot One (Ancient Tree Fire Wyvern clan Grimalkyne)

Slot Two (Ancient Tree Fire Wyvern group)

Slot Three (None)]

At this moment, it was precisely the third slot of the Symbiosis trait that was flashing!

Logan had already figured out the requirements for Symbiosis long ago. It was just that over all these years, apart from forming Symbiosis with the cats and the Fire Wyvern group in the Wildspire Waste, this trait had never reacted again. In daily life, aside from using the energy pyramid to judge that the Fire Wyverns in the current Ancient Tree Fire Wyvern group had made good progress, Logan basically would not pay any attention to it.

He had not expected this trait to suddenly show its presence again at this moment.

When he opened the third slot, brand-new information appeared inside.

[Mutated Qurio: Qurio that underwent a massive mutation due to an unknown energy, capable of Symbiosis. (Note: due to certain changes at the genetic level, they may be renamed.)]

With the panel's confirmation, Logan's guess was correct. These insects that looked so dazzling and beautiful really were a variant of the Qurio!

It was just that… the change was far too great.

Not only had they gone from "meat-eaters" to "plant-eaters," even their method of supplying energy to the host had undergone a tremendous transformation.

To be honest, if they were still the original Qurio, Logan would indeed feel a bit repulsed, even though the Qurio did provide help to a Symbiotic host.

But now, with these mutated Qurio having changed so drastically, it seemed he could accept them after all.

As for the original Qurio's side effects—such as drawing out the deep violent urges within monsters, or the insect toxin—Logan did not sense even the slightest trace of those abnormalities.

"Perhaps I can try it!"

Looking at the weakened mutated Qurio fluttering before him, as if showing off their mother insect, Logan silently filled in the third slot.

In an instant, the Terastal energy inside Logan's body acted like a kind of link—one that could not be seen visually but could only be sensed through the flow of energy—connecting him to the mutated Qurio mother.

Unlike before, the moment the connection completed, Logan sensed that he seemed to be able to command the mutated Qurio before him, and could even determine certain information through the vibration frequency of the mother insect's wings.

With a slight vibration of his wings, Logan instinctively imitated the communication method of the mutated Qurio and issued a command.

The swarm of mutated Qurio, which had been flying around chaotically, all folded their wings simultaneously and landed on the ground. Even the true ruler of the swarm—the mother insect—obeyed Logan's order all the same.

'Nature really is amazing~'

After silently saying that in his heart, Logan let out a low growl from his throat.

"From now on, your new name is—Radiant Crystal Butterfly!"

...

Seeing that their own Boss Fire Wyvern had merely shown himself and breathed some fire, casually making these hateful insects submit, the cats, their eyes sparkling like stars, watched Logan's back with boundless admiration as he returned to the nest.

The Ancient Wyverian prophet, on the other hand, watched those weakened Radiant Crystal Butterflies, which, under the lead of the mother insect, burrowed into the intertwined branches in the distance. The Radiant Crystal Butterfly corpses already dead on the ground were simply left there, and he immediately, excitedly called for people to hurry up and go collect them.

These were all excellent research materials. Even if they could not be used in alchemy, they could be taken later to trade with the Research Commission.

By the time the people of the Research Commission rushed over from Blazefire Village, the matter had long since calmed down. They only sharp-eyedly noticed that pile of Radiant Crystal Butterfly corpses on the ground that had not yet been cleaned up. On the way here, they had also picked up a few Radiant Crystal Butterfly corpses that had been shot down along the road.

Although they still did not know the cause of the incident, just from the fact that these Radiant Crystal Butterflies had only been knocked down after withstanding so many attacks from the Fire Wyvern and the cats, it could already be seen that these things were definitely not simple.

They just did not know whether these things were good or bad, whether there was some problem like an infection source, so they did not take many. They only collected a few corpses, stored them properly, and would later hand them over to the scholars for related research.

The belated Research Commission squad asked the cats of the Fire Wyvern Guard Squad about it, but only obtained the information that once the Boss Fire Wyvern showed up, the matter was resolved. As for the Radiant Crystal Butterflies, apart from the Boss Fire Wyvern, no other person or cat had any extra information either.

The only thing they knew was that these butterflies that seemed to come from another world had been named Radiant Crystal Butterflies by the Boss Fire Wyvern.

In other words, if they wanted to know more information about these Radiant Crystal Butterflies, they either had to study them themselves, or go ask the Sunblaze Dragon.

But they were not the Admiral. They did not have that status or that ability to communicate face-to-face with the Sunblaze Dragon.
