Chapter 60 - Chapter 60 – Drunken Chaos

Chapter 60 – Drunken Chaos

Moon was the only one still sane at this point. Quietly, he chewed his meat one bite at a time, unfazed by the absolute madness unraveling around him.

Kai, James, Ruby, and Minji?

All four were completely wasted.

Ruby had passed out early—curled awkwardly on the couch, face half-buried in a pillow, breathing softly.

James, on the other hand, had apparently decided the floor was the perfect place to "explore." He was crawling on his stomach like a confused earthworm, dragging his face across the floor while making soft "meow meow" noises under his breath.

Kai and Minji, meanwhile, had entered an entirely different dimension of drunk—one where logic had packed its bags and left, and absurdity had taken over the throne.

Kai was slumped back into the couch, a half-empty glass dangling loosely between his fingers. His eyes were half-lidded, barely focused, but the stupid grin spreading across his face said everything.

He turned his head slowly toward Minji, who was sitting cross-legged beside him, swaying slightly to a song that wasn't even playing.

"Minji…" he drawled, dragging her name out like he was reciting poetry. "You're not… by any chance… perverted, right?"

Minji blinked slowly.

Then, without a word, she leaned in and gently poked his nose with her index finger, holding the contact for a second longer than necessary. Her lips curled into a playful smirk, eyes glassy with intoxication.

"Yup," she whispered proudly, nodding like she was declaring a national holiday. "Pretty perverted."

There was a pause.

The two stared at each other—dead serious—for all of two seconds.

And then—

"Hehehehehehehehehe!"

They both exploded into chaotic laughter at the same time, tilting their heads back, flailing slightly. Their laughs weren't elegant. They weren't soft. They were the kind of drunk, high-pitched, nonsense giggles that made you question the meaning of life itself.

Minji nearly fell over, catching herself on the armrest as her whole body shook from laughter. Kai clutched his stomach like it physically hurt to breathe.

When their laughs finally quieted down into gasps and snorts, Minji leaned even closer—so close that her warm breath tickled the edge of Kai's ear.

Her eyes narrowed mischievously. Her cheeks were burning red, not from embarrassment, but the full flush of alcohol now running wild through her system. Her hair brushed against his cheek as she tilted her head slightly.

She whispered, in the softest, most curious voice imaginable:

"Are you retarded by any chance?"

Kai's lips twitched.

He turned to her with slow, exaggerated seriousness—head tilted just a little, like he was processing the question through ten filters of vodka and bad decisions.

Then he broke into a slow, dumb grin.

"Yup," he said with mock pride. "Pretty retarded."

The silence that followed lasted barely a second.

And then the second wave hit.

"HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE—!!"

Minji started rolling sideways, laughing so hard she almost slipped off the couch entirely. Kai was slapping the cushion beside him like it was some kind of applause button. Their chaotic laughter echoed through the room like two malfunctioning cartoon characters had come to life.

They were an absolute disaster—and loving every second of it.

Moon, across the room, stared at them like they were an alien species.

His temples throbbed.

He wondered briefly what would happen if he simply stood up and walked out the door, left the planet, found a new galaxy, and never looked back.

He took a deep breath.

This… was going to be a long night.

Moon pressed his fingers against his forehead. His head was starting to throb from secondhand stupidity. He was sober. Unfortunately.

Across the room, James was now face-down, trying to slither like a caterpillar. His shirt was halfway up his back, and he was still making those strange little "meow" sounds.

Moon didn't want to know why.

Suddenly, Minji grabbed Kai's cheeks and squished them, giggling. "You know, you look so freaking cute when you're serious and thinking hard."

Kai smirked and returned the favor, pinching her cheeks right back. "Yeah, well, I am cute. But why do you look like a witch when you laugh?"

Minji laughed so hard she rolled off the couch, writhing on the floor like a happy maniac.

The three of them continued their weird, chaotic dance of madness.

Moon's eyes drifted toward Ruby again.

She was still asleep—but in a position that looked extremely uncomfortable. Her head was tilted at a strange angle, one arm dangling off the edge of the couch, legs half-curled like she was about to fall off.

Moon sighed and stood up.

With deliberate care, he walked over and gently lifted her into his arms. She stirred slightly—her eyelids fluttering open for a second—but didn't resist. Her eyes closed again as if surrendering to the warmth of his hold.

He carried her toward the guest room, opened the door with his foot, and laid her down on the bed. Quietly, he pulled a blanket over her.

Then, he stood there for a moment—just watching her breathe.

She looked… peaceful. Softer than usual. Vulnerable, even.

Moon wasn't a stranger to attraction. He'd had crushes in school, sure. Girls had even confessed to him before. But Ruby… she was different. They had fought beside him. Slept on the same floors. Laughed, bled, and nearly died together.

They were comrades.

And maybe… something more.

Moon quickly looked away, brushing the thought aside. He turned around and left the room, closing the door quietly behind him.

The Next Morning – 5:00 AM

Moon woke up early—too early.

He freshened up, lit a cigarette out of habit, took one long drag, and then threw it away. It didn't taste right today.

He slipped into his outfit: a black t-shirt, black trousers, and white shoes. Then, he headed downstairs.

The living room was a disaster zone.

James was still face-down on the floor, arms and legs spread out like he'd been hit by a truck.

Minji and Kai were sleeping on each other—literally tangled on the couch like some kind of exhausted animal pile.

Moon didn't even flinch.

He bypassed them, heading to the guest room. He knocked first—lightly. No response.

He cracked the door open just enough to peek in.

Ruby was still asleep. Her hair was slightly messy, hand curled near her chin. She looked… calm.

Moon quietly shut the door and sighed.

Just to be polite, he tried waking James and Kai—but of course, they didn't budge. No one wakes up after a night like that.

So he gave up.

Pulled out his phone. Ordered some food.

Two minutes later, the delivery arrived. Moon sat cross-legged on the floor and devoured the meal without a word. After that, he flipped on the TV in his room and spent the rest of the morning watching his favorite show, occasionally sipping water.

Mid-Morning

A sudden, loud crash shattered the calm.

Moon instantly looked up from the TV, alert. The sound had come from the hallway—sharp and glassy, like something had fallen hard.

He got up and stepped out of his room.

Just outside, near the dining table, Kai stood barefoot in the middle of the mess. A ceramic vase lay in pieces at his feet, water slowly spreading across the floor in a puddle, soaking into the edge of the carpet.

Kai was clutching his forehead with both hands, swaying slightly like he was still trying to remember what planet he was on.

"Ughh…" he groaned, wincing.

His hair was a chaotic mess. There was a faint red mark on his temple where he'd likely hit the doorframe on the way out.

Moon approached him, calm as ever.

"You okay?" he asked, slipping an arm under Kai's to keep him steady.

Kai let out a pitiful noise. "I feel like I got run over by a truck... twice. And then reversed over... for fun."

Moon didn't even smile. He just handed him a cold glass of water.

"Drink," he said. "Then wake the others."

Kai nodded and slowly took a sip, eyes squinting at the light streaming through the windows like it was an enemy. After a moment, he handed the glass back and stumbled toward the living room like a dying warrior.

---

Five minutes later, groggy sounds filled the house.

Kai had somehow managed to shake Minji awake—she mumbled something incoherent about flying turtles and rolled off the couch.

Ruby stirred next, eyes half-open, hair completely wild from sleep. She blinked at the ceiling, confused, as if waking up in a different timeline.

James, however, was a different beast altogether.

He refused to wake up. Kai had to literally drag the blanket off him, slap his face a few times, and finally pour a spoonful of cold water on his neck before he jolted upright like a zombie hit by lightning.

Once the chaos was over, the three gathered their stuff and slowly shuffled out the door, still looking half-dead. They had training back at their clan facility, and though their minds protested, their bodies were moving on instinct.

Moon didn't go.

He didn't even get up from his chair.

As the door shut behind them, he exhaled deeply, walked back into his room, and flopped down onto the bed. His TV was still on—some late-season episode of his favorite series—and the room was pleasantly dim.

He picked up the remote, raised the volume just a bit, and let himself melt into the mattress.

Meanwhile, Kai?

He came back ten minutes later, grumbling, and collapsed straight onto the couch without a word.

His headache had returned with a vengeance.

He didn't even bother making it to his bed. He simply curled up under a throw blanket, let out a muffled groan, and drifted right back to sleep.
