Chapter 63 - Meeting and a growing world

Jacks procession of troops marched through the harbour and countless selling stalls.

Countless civilians and other lords with a guard of troops, all made way for them, some even following after them, staring in awe at the giants.

They found a suitable open place to make camp outside the walls.

1000 sailors, equipped with spears, small shields and 5 javelins, came with the tents and other resources.

Jacks flagship still contained additional 2000 sailors and combined with the total amount of 5000 sailors in the 10 other warships, he still had a decent force at the harbour.

Jack's tent was far larger than the troops and centaurs. It was located in the middle, surrounded by his troops.

Just outside his tent they had left a large area where the giants could rest on the ground.

Giants could sleep soundly in any weather and didn't need tents.

It was midday before everything was in order and Jack finally moved to the longhouse where the meeting would take place.

He only brought a single giant troop as his guard.

Every single lord brought their own best troops as guards, and to show off.

Outside the longhouse, many troops were already gathered.

'It seems I'm the only one who has acquired new and different troop.'

Jack looked at the many groups of troops eyeing eachother.

They were all common rank human troops.

However they differed greatly in armour and weapon quality.

Most had leather armour and their summoned spears.

While a few groups had a few pieces of mail and ring-mail.

Some groups even had tabards to show their affiliation.

These groups made way as Jack's giant came near, easily creating a space for it to sit down.

Now every single troop was wary and eyed the giant instead of eachother.

Jack expected no less, 'I would be frightened too', he just grinned and entered the longhouse.

15 lords were already gathered and seated as he entered.

The table was filled with all the rarest and best foods the combined lords could procure.

Including glasswares filled with vine and flagons of beer.

Jack recognised only three of the lords seated at one end of the table.

Ramises and his handsome egyptian face. Blaze, or Brutus as his real name was, with his large solid body and sturdy face.

Then he guessed the name of the beautiful asian-looking female that had fought with him in Victory Hold.

'You must be Angelica...' He guessed it from what when he had seen this Angelica on the lord's chat.

They all stopped speaking as he entered.

"Jack! Finally, please sit down."

Ramises came and guided him to a chair beside Angelica.

"So, let's begin." Ramises sat down at the end of the table.

"Everyone seems to know Jack, so I will skip his presentation." Ramises began and the other lords simply acknowledged this.

"Brutus, Angelica, Jack and myself represents the trade alliance. In the other end of the table sits the core of the slayers alliance."

Jack looked to the end table and saw five lords with matching black tabards.

The one at the end of the table seemed to be the leader of the alliance, claiming the end-spot opposite Ramises, the leader of the trade alliance.

'He must be Kingslayer from the chat...' Jack wondered as Ramises continued.

"They are Vance, Alexia and Filipa, Rango and finally Do-yon. Thank you all for attending this meeting, slayers."

Ramises spoke with a clear voice, yet everyone could feel the tension when he had spoken Vance's name.

Vance was a blond man, tall and strong looking.

His blond hair was short and his expression was mischievous. He sat with his arms crossed and leaned back with a superior expression on his face.

Af if all this was beneath him and simply something that he had to get over with.

He seemed like a man who was used to getting his way, or take it for himself without squaler.

The two young females, Alexia and Filipa, looked very beautiful with slender bodies, firm proportions and seducing faces.

Their skin was sun-broen, old-earth Hispanic looking.

They looked very much alike. Twins maybe.

'How lucky are you to spawn so close to eachother on Prime'. Jack thought.

Rango was a tall and muscle-filled black man. He looked like a warrior by heart, and Jack couldn't guess much else about him.

The last one was Do-yun. He seemed to be out of place next to the other Slayer leaders.

He was short, asian, maybe old-earth Korean? And very thin. He was probably around 18 years old and looked like he didn't want to be here at all.

'It doesn't surprise me, the boy looks like he should be eating ramen and binge reading novels in his mom's house. Not sitting at a war-meeting on a hostile giant planet..'

Jack lost interest as Ramises continued.

"Next we have three lords representing the Free Cities Alliance and three lords representing the Island Coalition."

Jack had never heard about these before and listened with interes as Ramises began to explain with many words.

"Everyone knows that the trade alliance spans from the peninsula, Etal Empire, and a thousand kilometres up the coast. We also have lords deep inland in the hills and plains, spanning up to the jungle areas in the north."

Ramises watched as everyone nodded.

"There are still wild territories beyond the trade alliance territory, and beyond those territories are the Slayers alliance. Spanning from these wild territories and to the marshes in the east, stretching for many hundreds kilometres I'm told..."

Ramises stopped and looked at Vance who were smiling with a superior and confident grin.

"That brings me to The Free Cities Alliance. They are a group of lords who refuse to join either of our two big alliances. They are territories who also reside inside and between the alliances territories, including some who are still isolated in amongst wild territories."

Ramises looked at an old woman who nodded, Raises had spoken correctly.

"Helga, Moses and Diva have been selected to represent these free cities so they also have a voice in this meeting."

Jack looked them over.

Helga was the old lady. Short, plumb with gray hair and a confidently authoritative face. As if she was used to commandeer other people.

'Maybe she owned some kind of business or shop back on earth to gain such confidence in her high age.'

Moses looked middle-eastern. Common looking with a slender body with a black beard and hair.

Diva looked to be around 40. She was also common looking with brown hair and a body that told a story of having a couple of kids already.

However Diva also seemed to be very intelligent. Her eyes lingering on everyone present, clearly thinking and calculating.

"That leaves the last three lords. Leaders of the Island Coalition. We've just recently met as we've been exploring the seas with our ships. Apparently a few hundred kilometres off our coast, a large island group appears. Nubi, Chane and Alizo. However their presence here is not due to our struggle on the mainland, but their own struggle on the isles. Why dont we start the meeting with you?"

Ramises sat down and gestured for the three to stand up and speak.

Nubi, another black man with a big belly and bald head stood up after looking at the two others in turn.

Chane, a short and dense man with long, wild brown hair and beard looked like an old-earth man from the Russian or mongol steppes.

Alizo was a man clad in many furs and tattoos, maybe an amazon?

"It's true that we have no interest or picked any side in your... Conflict here..." Nubi began while looking at the two sides with annoyance.

"Our territories are indeed located on islands. There are thousands islands in the ocean. Many as large as a whole country and countless smaller ones. We come here today after many days of travel, not to interfere with your conflict, but to ask for help."

He let the words settle before he spoke again, as Vance had just snickered loudly, clearly stating that he had no interest in helping and thought that this was a waste of time.

Nubi just looked at him clearly annoyed before he continued.

"While you people are about to discuss the possibility of peace or a new war between humans, we at the isles are already at war!"

His voice had gained an ounce of force as he spoke.

"A race called Jeezi, thin and long-legged aliens with tree fingers, no bodily hair, pale white skin and slits for eyes are repeatingly attacking our towns and claiming island after island! They have more lords than us on the isles and if we do not get help, it's just a matter of time before they claim them all entirely!"

Nubi spoke as if the entire human races survival depended on this.

'It reminds me of the last battle with the reptilians. Their whole world is concentrated in and around those islands. For them, the human races future certainly is at stake.'

Jack understood their point of view, but was unsure weather he wanted to get involved at all.

'It all depends on what the slayers alliance will do. If we can have peace, maybe I can send a few ships to help. They are human after all...'

"Our plea is to ask for troops and resources in form of weaponry and food. If any lords will help us, we will forever be grateful! We don't have a lot of gold, but we've gathered enough to even hire some mercenary hero's if you have any such who are willing!"

Nubi sat down after this, his hopes almost vanished as he saw the other lords expressions, especially Vance who just looked at him with an indifferent expression. As if he was an insect who asked for his wealth. Not worth his time at all.

'They can clearly summon their own trash- and common ranked troops. But it seems they lack leadership and strong heroes to lead them.'

Jack kept silent and Ramises spoke again.

"I'm afraid, Nubi, that it doesn't seem like anyone can afford to help your people at this time. Maybe you can set up a stall and ask the many lords outside later. There might be one or two filling to help you."

Ramises looked at the three heroes apologetically.

"So let's continue the meeting. Slayers, will you begin?"

The talks lasted well into the evening before the topics finally reached a conclusion.
