Fu Yunshen suddenly pushed Shi Mu against the door and leaned in so closely their noses nearly touched.
"Why did you come to me?" he asked.
Shi Mu turned her head uncomfortably. "You're too close."
He chuckled. "Then tell me, why did you come?"
"I..." Shi Mu hesitated, then whispered, "I couldn't sleep."
Her voice was light, almost inaudible, but Fu Yunshen heard it clearly. A hint of amusement flickered in his eyes.
"So you came here in the middle of the night because you couldn't sleep?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "What if I had been asleep?"
"You weren't," she said confidently.
"And how do you know that?"
"Because... I just knew." Her voice faltered.
Fu Yunshen narrowed his eyes. "Are you sure you're not here for something else?"
Shi Mu stepped back instinctively, but the door was right behind her. Trapped, she could only meet his gaze.
"Move," she mumbled.
He didn't.
"Fu Yunshen!" she exclaimed, trying to push him away.
"You're too stubborn," he said softly, eyes scanning her face.
She looked away again. "You're being weird."
The tension was broken by a sudden noise from outside. Both turned their heads, startled. Shi Mu seized the opportunity to slip away.
Fu Yunshen didn't stop her this time. As the door clicked shut behind her, he exhaled slowly and leaned against it, hand covering his eyes.
"That girl..." he muttered to himself, a faint smile forming, "...is trouble."
