A swirling, colorful portal appeared out of thin air amidst the dense canopy of an unfamiliar forest. From it stepped a young man, around twenty years old, his sharp features shadowed by the fading glow of the dimensional gate as it quietly sealed behind him.
Nova took a cautious look around, his instincts immediately sharpening. The forest was dense, thick with towering trees and the scent of damp earth. Strange, distant sounds echoed through the foliage — the chirp of unseen insects, the rustle of leaves, and the occasional snap of a branch somewhere far off.
Not one to take chances, Nova reached into his system inventory and materialized a pair of customized handguns — trophies he'd claimed after mercilessly beating down criminals and saving people.
For the next half hour, Nova moved through the forest with practiced caution, his senses on high alert. He carefully scouted the area, marking notable landmarks and taking note of the local flora and faint tracks on the forest floor. Despite the eerie atmosphere, no dangerous beasts or threats revealed themselves.
Satisfied, Nova finally located a towering tree with a trunk as thick as a small car. He scaled it swiftly, his movements efficient and silent, until he reached a heavy, sturdy branch that could easily support his weight. There, surrounded by leaves and the distant glow of a setting sun, he settled down.
With a steadying breath, Nova opened his system interface. The translucent blue screen shimmered in front of him, illuminating his face in the growing twilight.
He tapped on the Identity Creation ability within the system, and almost instantly, a flood of memories surged into his mind — vivid, detailed fragments that didn't belong to the Nova who had stepped through the portal, but to Nova Ashbourne, the sole heir of a once-proud but fallen noble house.
As the last of the memories settled, Nova took a slow, steadying breath, Nova raised his hand and summoned one of the most important relics tied to this new identity.
With a radiant, multicolored glow, a thick, ancient-looking book materialized above his palm — its cover adorned with arcane symbols, and at its center, a gleaming four-leaf clover emblem.
His grimoire.
The Reality Wish Grimoire, a relic he'd received at the age of fifteen in this world's history.
In this world, grimoires weren't just magical tools — they were everything. A person's entire future could be shaped by the grimoire they received at their coming-of-age ceremony. Its thickness represented the depth of their potential, while the number of clovers on its cover marked their affinity with fortune and magic itself.
A three-leaf grimoire symbolized hope, faith, and love — the standard most people received. A rare four-leaf grimoire was said to be a blessing of unimaginable talent and destiny. But somewhere in the darkness… there existed a fifth leaf, one born from despair.
And now, Nova found himself in that very world — the world of Black Clover. A land ruled by magic, kingdoms, and status, where power determined worth, and titles decided fates.
He knew this world well, even before arriving here. A place with a hot-blooded, loudmouthed protagonist who screamed about becoming the Wizard King at every opportunity — a boy named Asta, who, despite being born without a single drop of magic in a society where magic was everything, never once gave up.
It was this very flaw — or rather, this fate — that allowed Asta to wield something no other could. The fabled five-leaf clover grimoire, in which a devil resided, granting the power of anti-magic.
Nova's gaze dropped to the glowing grimoire floating above his palm, its four-leaf emblem shining brightly in the dim forest light. He smirked.
Truth be told, Nova wasn't all that surprised to find himself holding a four-leaf clover grimoire. Considering his track record, it almost felt expected. After all, he'd been reborn into a new world, armed with a powerful system, and on top of that, possessed an incredibly rare mutant ability. If luck was a measurable force, he was practically swimming in it.
What did catch him off guard, however, was the sheer absurdity of the Identity Creation skill.
He'd initially assumed it was some minor utility feature — a way to forge background details and fake records. But after experiencing it firsthand, Nova realized it was something else entirely. This was a full-blown, reality-altering, world-integrated skill. One capable of rewriting his existence from the ground up, seamlessly blending him into any world's history with a complete set of memories, bloodlines, and social standing.
What made it even more intriguing was how it worked.
The identity created by the skill was technically random, but heavily influenced by the wielder's innate potential. In Nova's case, with his Wish ability and system-enhanced stats, the result was naturally exceptional.
He was certain that if his abilities had been something more mundane — say, a standard fire manipulation ability — he'd have ended up as a commoner, clutching a three-leaf clover grimoire and fighting tooth and nail for scraps.
The skill didn't just stop at background details either. It factored in other crucial variables — connections, influence, potential future opportunities, and most importantly, compatibility with his main profession: trading.
That was one of the major parameters the system prioritized when constructing his identity. No matter the world, Nova's priority is trading. And this new persona, Nova Ashbourne, was tailored to leverage that.
A fallen noble house meant old connections, hidden archives, forgotten legacies, and desperate debts — a perfect breeding ground for someone like him to rise.
Well — not exactly.
Nova wasn't some desperate heir weighed down by debts, nor did anyone owe him a fortune in favors. The identity the Identity Creation skill had forged for him was cleaner than that.
There were no lingering obligations, no vendettas, and no shackles tying him down. In many ways, it was the perfect starting point — obscurity, with room to grow.
But what truly made this identity worthwhile was the hidden archive.
Buried deep beneath the crumbling remnants of the Ashbourne estate lay a sealed library. A treasury of forgotten knowledge, rare tomes, and magic spells.
That, more than any noble bloodline or empty title, was real power.
And it raised an interesting point Nova couldn't ignore.
"Magic spells? In this world?"
In the Black Clover he knew, people didn't exactly learn spells from books. Grimoire pages manifested spells based on the wielder's latent magic and growth. Sure, there were theories, combat tactics, and enchantment knowledge, but structured spell-learning wasn't how the system worked. At least, not in the canon timeline.
Unless…
Either this was an alternate version of Black Clover where magic theory and learned spellcraft existed alongside grimoire abilities, or perhaps it was simply a detail the original Asta never encountered because of his unique anti-magic nature. After all, a boy born without a single drop of mana wouldn't exactly be handed spellbooks.
Nova wasn't complaining though. If anything, it played to his advantage.
Knowledge was a weapon, and if this world had libraries full of spells just waiting to be mastered, it meant even without relying on grimoire pages, one could broaden their magical arsenal through study and practice.
And that's exactly what he needs. Afterall his super power basically is reality altering as long as he knows the underlying logic and knowledge.
Nova opened his grimoire, the thick pages turning with a faint shimmer until they settled on the only spell it currently held.
Reality Script: Wishmaker's Command.
He read the name again, a slow smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. Now that sounds dangerous.
As his eyes scanned the spell's description, Nova quickly grasped its purpose.
"So basically… this lets me give a short command and force the world to follow it, within limits. Like making a wound close, snuffing out a fire, or turning a stone to dust — simple stuff for now. The bigger or crazier the wish, the more mana it eats up, and the harder it is to pull off. Also there is still the biggest limitation, his knowledge. To heal a wound, he needs medical knowledge, to snuff fire he needs knowledge of how to do it, etc But still… it's literally a reality-altering command spell."
The spell worked by either speaking, thinking, or writing a quick order — a command the world had no choice but to obey for a few seconds. It wasn't absolute; there were rules. Range, mana cost, complexity and knowledge. But even at this basic level, it was absurdly useful.
Nova chuckled under his breath. "This thing's basically a cheat code. It works perfectly with his refined reality altering mode. With the library full of magic knowledge and spells, his strength his gonna rise like a rocket."
He snapped the grimoire shut, the glow dimming as it floated back to his side.
