Chapter 14 - Chapter 12: Dr. Tianli

The night deepens, yet the study in the estate still glows warmly.

Since the original owner had no habit of reading, this study, connected to a secret chamber, was somewhat empty. Lin Lan simply had the attendants move the Molecular Reconstructor here.

The bookshelf slowly closed behind him. Lin Lan left the secret room, holding a sapphire-blue cube in his hand that emitted a gentle glow.

[Item: Civilian Model No. 09 Nuclear Battery]

[Quality: Blue]

[Function: Provides continuous and stable electrical output with an energy conversion efficiency of 20%]

[Description 1: Manufactured by Roser Technology Company, widely used in various electronic products]

[Description 2: Current battery remaining: 56%]

Lin Lan approached the Reconstructor and compared the battery to the notch on its surface.

It was a perfect fit.

Lin Lan let out a slight sigh of relief.

The moment he realized the 'Blood Plague Curse' had spread to Seagull Town, he felt a sense of urgency.

As a foreigner, Lin Lan naturally cared nothing for the so-called Lion's Heart Glory. With this 'irreverence' as a premise, the Blood Plague became an issue he had to resolve.

Although ignoring it and letting the Blood Plague ravage lives was currently the safest course, Lin Lan didn't intend to be an ostrich burying its head in the sand.

Wrath of the Former King? Scarlet Calamity?

Utter nonsense.

Even a fool could see that the Blood Plague was essentially a cruel means for the Lionheart Royal Family to eliminate traitors.

So one day, this thing would come for him.

It's never wrong to look for a cure in advance.

Fortunately, Brother Charles helped him at this critical juncture. The Deep Sea Treasures 'Molecular Reconstructor' used in the medical field might have a solution for the Blood Plague!

Lin Lan decisively pressed the battery into the notch.

In the next moment, the dim screen of the Reconstructor lit up.

'Compliant energy detected! Restarting the instrument's operating system for you!'

A buzzing sound instantly echoed in the room, carrying a peculiar rhythm and beauty. Whether it was an illusion or not, Lin Lan even caught a hint of joy from the machine's reboot sound.

It was as if thousands of electronic components were waking from silence, stretching out, and singing joyful songs in the process.

The machine spirit was delighted!

"You've really had it rough."

Lin Lan patted the machine's casing with a sigh.

It was clear this big guy had followed the wrong people before, using such precise machinery to forcefully create unformed weapons was a pure waste of resources.

Lin Lan was puzzled at another thought: the primary functions of the Molecular Reconstructor were in food and medicine, so how come it could also manufacture weapons?

He then saw the current formula displayed on the screen.

[Formula 001: A simple compressed biscuit]

Lin Lan was silent.

The divine weapon capable of severing a sea monster's claw was actually a freaking compressed biscuit?!

With a strange expression, he suppressed his urge to complain and continued reading.

[Formula Description: That's right, from now on, you can synthesize edible, digestible, and excretable healthy food from any material! Remember, any material!]

[People will always remember this mad, great, era-defying breakthrough from zero to one!]

[The employees of the company were once bound by the shackles of rules, it was He who altered the world's underlying logic for the company!]

[This is our most crucial step toward the stars!]

[Let us praise Him! Sing of Him! Worship Him! Everything offered to the omnipotent, supreme Dr. Tianli!]

The fervor within the words was overwhelming.

Lin Lan's pupils subtly trembled.

The company... world's underlying logic... from zero to one... He... Dr. Tianli...

Instinctively holding his breath, Lin Lan fixated on the words on the screen, as if glimpsing the tip of the iceberg of that mysterious era and the legendary...

——God.

"Dr. Tianli..." Lin Lan subconsciously muttered the name.

For a fleeting moment, the flickering fire on the wall froze, the silvery-white machinery trembled with fear, and the active electronics quivered silently, as if some indescribable presence glanced at the gray-haired youth through the screen.

Lin Lan shuddered slightly.

He snapped back to reality, feeling that the sensation he just experienced was strange and entrancing.

"Dr. Tianli?"

Lin Lan glanced around, then hesitantly asked again, "Is that you watching, Dr. Tianli?"

There were no supernatural phenomena around, the fire flickered normally, and the night was tranquil and profound.

He scratched his head and redirected his attention back to the words on the screen.

At first glance, Formula 001 seemed ordinary, but upon deeper thought, one could realize its defiance of the natural order.

In the eyes of Dr. Tianli, humanity would never again suffer the torment of hunger.

Lin Lan could not imagine the splendor of that era, with humans accompanying divine beings, and the company's ambition pointing straight at the stars in the sky.

Yet now, the Ideal City has become a desolate ruin, its past glory buried in the depths of time, even the concept of God gradually fading away...

Lin Lan fell into contemplation.

In the original owner's memory, the concept of God was not particularly distinct, though this world had a church, its presence was quite weak.

The faiths people held were merely rudimentary concepts.

For example, sailors would worship the sun, praying for good weather at sea, while a gravekeeper might worship death, wishing for eternal peace after death.

Churches established across various regions resembled welfare institutions for the aged and weak, with little influence, and people entering to pray would follow their own beliefs, with hardly any conflicts between them.

Lin Lan speculated that there might be more divine beings like Dr. Tianli in this world.

Where have they all gone now?

How bothersome, my head itches.

Lin Lan rubbed his brow, feeling as if this world was a labyrinth built upon countless puzzles. Holding his torch high, he saw only infinitely intersecting and extending black walls.

The only certain fact now was: this world was regressing at an exaggerated pace.

But a mere small lord had no power to intervene in matters that concerned the survival of civilization.

Lin Lan shook his head, casually took a book of Lion Heart praises from the bookshelf beside him, and tossed it into the opening of the Reconstructor.

He gently tapped 'synthesize'.

In the next instant, dazzling chaotic beams burst from the machine's seams!

The furnace, running at full power, was like a witch's cauldron. The materials thrown in were instantly consumed, decomposed, and transformed.

Before long, with a 'hiss', the lower tray of the Reconstructor popped out, presenting a square piece of brown biscuit.

[Formula 001 successfully created!]

[If the product is too hard, please use a hot beverage to soften it before consumption. Enjoy your meal!]

Lin Lan picked up the biscuit and tried biting into it, only to immediately wear a dismayed expression.

It was hard, dry, and tasteless, truly a terribly bland taste.

"At least it's better than a weapon biscuit made from iron ore; at least it's edible..."

Lin Lan muttered, munching the biscuit bit by bit, as his fingers moved across the screen, flipping through the directory of medical formulas.
