Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Wetland Lizard-man

Following the portly, round-faced Chairman Macken, whose eyes always held a smile, they entered the back hall.

This area was even more spacious than the front, with countless iron cages in full view.

Stacked three layers high.

However, the air here wasn't too foul; instead, it was quite refreshing, evidently a result of effort.

They bypassed each imprisoned slave, heading to the center area.

Twenty cages lay flat on the ground, one by one.

At this moment, these cages held the target of their journey.

Wetland Lizard-men.

Their bodies wrapped in thick scale armor, with defensive capabilities comparable to metal armor.

Scales glimmering green and grayish-brown, as a natural camouflage, facilitating stealth in the swamp.

Walking upright, their sturdy limbs with muscles taut, fingers like sharp daggers glinting with chilling gleams.

Heads those of lizards, amber eyes filled with fierce brutality, revealing razor-sharp teeth upon opening their mouths.

This is a group of fierce beasts, born killing machines!

As he stared, the panel flashed again in his mind.

Wetland Lizard-man

[Level]: Initial Tier Knight (Level 6)

[Potential]: 1 Star (Level Cap: Level 6)

[Racial Talent]: Amphibian Life, the unique lung structure of Wetland Lizard-men allows them to hold their breath for extended periods and briefly breathe underwater.

[Skills]: Scale Armor (1 Star, Passive) possesses defense akin to steel.

Brutality (1 Star) when receiving or initiating an attack, enters a brutal state, becoming intensely violent, unafraid of pain, relentless against enemies.

[Equipment]: None

[Evaluation]: Ferocious swamp life.

Lear felt somewhat surprised.

Potential... 1 Star? His potential is 2 Stars.

He hadn't heard of potential ratings before, clearly an intelligence system has quantified everything.

This way, he can have a clear understanding.

These swamp creatures have reached the pinnacle of potential, level 6!

It seems the intelligence system has a great deal of potential to excavate.

Seeing someone approach, those fierce beings shackled with heavy chains binding their hands and feet, even their necks tethered tightly, immediately became agitated.

"मतपाईंकोमेंदुलाई!!!"

"मूर्ख..."

"खानेछु!..."

They cursed sharply in Lizard speech.

Despite being caged, felt no fear whatsoever.

Some even charged directly at the cages, baring teeth and tearing at the iron bars, emitting shrill friction sounds.

Witnessing this scene, Macken's face turned grim.

"When they were captured last week, over three squadrons... a total of 342 people."

"But now, only a little over two squadrons remain, 203 people."

Macken turned to look at Lear.

"The Ring of Enslavement inflicts mental anguish on controlled slaves."

"No one can withstand the soul's agony."

"But these Wetland Lizard-men... remain insane even when controlled by the Ring of Enslavement."

His face looked unpleasant.

"In my twenty years of slave trading... such races that aren't afraid of the Ring of Enslavement are countable on one hand."

It's no wonder that even the Beast Fighting Arena refuses to buy these beings.

The Ring of Enslavement can directly transmit pain into the soul, even fierce Beastmen can't endure it.

Yet these beings forcefully resist... who can reason with this?

Lear's expression was profound.

Being attacked or initiating attack, these beings fall into a brutal state, fearless of pain.

This Ring of Enslavement, although a magical item, cannot suppress their nature.

That's the feature of Wetland Lizard-men.

If they are enemies, it's headache-inducing, but if they are subordinates... a group of killing machines unafraid of pain and fear.

Isn't this an immense blessing?

"Now, sir, do you still wish to purchase?"

"If you still need them, I can offer the lowest price to you."

Macken thought Lear would back out, but, unexpectedly, after hesitating briefly, he casually inquired about the price.

"What's the lowest price?"

Macken raised one hand, hesitated, then bent 3 fingers.

"20 Gold Coins!"

"My purchase price was 40 Gold Coins!"

This deal was a blood loss, as he bought them for 30 Gold Coins each.

But if not sold, he's unsure if any of these two hundred Wetland Lizard-men will survive until next week.

He urgently wanted to offload these unlucky beings; he really didn't want to see them anymore.

Selling them now at a loss is better than not getting a penny.

"10 Gold Coins!"

"I'll buy them all!"

"10 Gold Coins?"

Macken's plump face twitched, but seeing Lear's seemingly uninterested demeanor, he gritted his teeth.

"I... sell!"

At least these two hundred can recover two thousand Gold Coins cost.

If unsold, nothing would remain.

Those buying slaves aren't fools; Wetland Lizard-men have no market.

If he hadn't connections in the Beast Fighting Arena, he never planned to buy them.

Damn the steward suddenly being reassigned after the Wetland Lizard-men shipment arrived, causing no one to take over, directly dumping it on him.

Lear quietly spoke.

"Chairman Macken, there's a current issue... I've been buying resources extensively, only have 1000 Gold Coins left."

"Could I initially pay 1000 as a deposit, then pay the remaining 1000 Gold Coins three days later?"

Tomorrow, the intelligence will refresh; by then, operations can proceed, earning 1000 Gold Coins is probable.

If all else fails, borrowing is possible... Umm, borrow from Firina.

Everyone's familiar now, after meeting twice they're like old friends borrowing a thousand gold coins is not unreasonable... right?

Macken was about to speak when suddenly a piercing scream echoed.

Two Lizard-men went berserk, violently crashing against the cage.

Heads and claws frantically scratching, biting, throats releasing devastating and terrifying screams.

Their aggressive posture made jaws drop.

Macken turned to look, his face changed dramatically, before he could react.

*Bang bang*, two explosive sounds rang out.

The heads of the two frenzied Wetland Lizard-men burst like watermelons, blood spraying everywhere.

They died on the spot.

The Ring of Enslavement.

Once a slave controlled by the Ring of Enslavement fiercely resists, the Ring of Enslavement will explode the slave's head.

To reach this extent, one must endure extreme, soul-tearing pain... ordinary life can't reach this extent and would surrender.

But in recent days, Wetland Lizard-men had exploded over a hundred times.

Yet if not putting the Ring of Enslavement on these Lizard-men... they would be ten times a hundred times more frenzied than now.

Macken's face stiffened, worryingly looking at Lear.

"Sir, I..."

But just halfway through, *bang*.

Another explosion sounded.

The bloody smell thickened once more.

Macken completely broke down, hysterically roaring.

"Damn bastards, never again in life will I buy these scoundrels!"

They genuinely aren't afraid of death!

"Sir, 1000 Gold Coins, selling them all to you, now, immediately, take them away!"
