Right now, Sariel is scrambling in an extremely embarrassing state, while the chat group laughs at his misfortune without any intention of helping, pondering why the Black Dragon would appear.
As one of the Ten Lords, Sariel is equipped with Divine Artifacts that are almost untouchable, but after all, being a player, his level isn't high enough. He's not yet at a stage to go head-to-head with a god, let alone a god among the Black Dragons.
Perhaps using Divine Descent might allow him to escape, but the cost is too great. Maybe he could hold out until reaching the Mermaid, hoping for rescue, but the Mermaid left the sea and the Black Dragon God is still Uriel's mission. Meeting would definitely result in one party getting hurt, or even both suffering.
So, why not just give up and die? It's not like dying is unbearable. At worst, he can resurrect back on the ship and catch up with the Mermaid's team after resting.
