He looked down and saw a piece of cake sitting in a cardboard box on the ceramic-tiled floor, with a bite taken out of the cream sprinkled with sugar.
"It's not a good habit for children to lie," the man said with a forced smile.
The two little girls tilted their heads together, their large, watery eyes wide open, with two small, delicate lips, pure black hair draping down beside their ears, cut straight across like a watermelon rind, looking very cute; making it seem like they wouldn't lie.
"We didn't lie to you, uncle, there's really someone inside."
