The gods are incredibly fickle; when they encounter beautiful things they can't help but want to possess them. If others resist or humiliate them, the gods will destroy those beautiful things and mete out thunderous punishment.
But often after the destruction, they feel regret and rush to the Netherworld to retrieve souls or the like.
Such stories abound in Ancient Greece, so Athena believed she could protect Xue Dili, as long as he was willing to become her follower.
With such thoughts in mind, Athena went to Xue Dili's residence.
This was an abandoned temple, originally dedicated to a minor god such as the deceased God of Narcissus. Since the god had died, the temple was abandoned and now served as Xue Dili's home.
Peering by the window, Athena saw Xue Dili tending to his wounds.
From his rapid breathing and clumsy fingers, Athena sensed an overwhelming guilt.
