Chapter 6 - Chapter -6 Dangerously Close (Even with 100 Pillows)

Vikram was already at the office, sitting in his cabin. He dialed the staff at home.

"Get a large couch for my room. And where did the old one go?"

Staff: "Sir, Dadi ji said it didn't suit the room, so she had it removed."

Vikram sighed. "Fine. Do it. If she asks, tell her I ordered it." Click.

A knock came on the door.

"Come in," Vikram said.

"Good morning, sir," said the manager, smiling, holding up his phone. "About the Kang Tae-moo you asked... he's a fictional character from a Korean drama. My wife told me last night because I couldn't figure it out."

"K-drama?" Vikram frowned.

"Yes, sir. Korean dramas are very popular, especially with women."

Vikram stared at the screen again, muttering, "This guy's haunting my dreams..."

"Thank you. You may go."

Back at the Suryavanshi Mansion:

Tara had finished breakfast and gone back to her room. She called her mother.

"Hello, beta! How are you?"

"I'm fine, Maa. How's Suhani? And Papa?"

"He's still the same, beta. No major improvement..."

"Send Suhani for the Christmas party, okay? She'll enjoy it. And... I miss you guys."

"We miss you too. You take care, and bring Vikram ji to visit sometime."

(Internally: 'That monster? Never.')

"Sure, Maa. I'll try. Bye."

---

Meanwhile, four staff members were carrying a massive couch toward Vikram's room.

Dadi stopped them. "Where are you going with that?"

"Sir said it's for his room."

"Leave it here. I'll talk to him."

Later that afternoon, Tara came down and saw the new couch.

"Why is this couch here?"

Dadi: "For the living room, beta. The older ones are worn."

Tara, suspicious: "These look pretty new to me..."

"forget it. After lunch, help me plan the party. Tomorrow's the 24th—shopping day."

After lunch, Tara and Dadi spent hours chatting and planning.

From a distance, Dada ji whispered, "Parvati finally found a partner to keep her busy again." He smiled.

---

That Evening:

Tara went back to her room, trying to find a drama to watch but couldn't decide.

"Monster said he'd fix the sleeping arrangement... but nothing's changed. That couch must be for downstairs."

Vikram entered.

Tara: "Did you fix it?"

Vikram (already irritated): "Dadi got the couch removed. The new one was supposed to be for this room, but she kept it downstairs."

Tara: "Ohhh right. She saw me sleeping on the couch and asked about it."

Vikram glared. "This is your fault. You and your late-night K-dramas. If you'd woken up on time..."

Tara suddenly burst out laughing. "You... watch K-dramas too?!"

"I don't have time for that nonsense. And no—there's no couch. So yes, we have to share the bed."

"What?! I have to sleep next to you?!"

Vikram muttered, "I should be the scared one. You almost killed me in your sleep." He stormed into the bathroom.

Tara scowled. "HE rolled to my side, and I'm the one getting yelled at?!"

---

That night, Tara sneakily requested 2-3 extra pillows from the staff, lying that it was for leg pain. She built a mighty wall between them.

"Let's see him cross THIS. Sleep in peace, Tara. No monster can reach you now."

But of course... halfway through the night, she rolled over and kicked Vikram off the bed. He hit the floor with a loud thud and groaned in pain.

Back aching, he got up, sprayed his back, and lay back down.

"If I scold her now, she'll start barking again... Let her sleep."

---

Morning:

Tara woke up and found Vikram beside her.

"You're on my side again!!"

"If you sleep on my side and kick me off the bed, what do you expect?!"

Vikram winced in pain.

Tara: "Wait... what did you say?"

"I'm not fighting now. I'll fix this whole problem today—even Dadi won't stop me."

He got up, groaning from back pain, showered, had breakfast, and left for the office.

---

Office:

Sitting in his cabin, Vikram rubbed his eyes.

"One more night like this... either I'll be dead or insane. Two nights of no sleep... back pain... and constant stress. This woman is dangerous."

The manager entered. "Sir, you look... exhausted."

"Just say what you came to say."

"Just these signatures, sir."

Vikram signed them.

"Also, sir..." the manager smiled awkwardly. "Hope you don't mind me saying—newlyweds usually don't get much sleep. Don't stress about work too much... just enjoy your married life."

Vikram gave him a death stare. "Say anything like that again, and you're fired."

He immediately called someone.

"Get the biggest bed you have. Install it in my room when Dadi goes out shopping. Hide the old one in the lowest storeroom—she never goes there. If any staff tells her, they're fired."

---

Meanwhile, Tara and Dadi were out shopping.

Dadi picked out a stunning red long Anarkali for her.

"It's beautiful, Dadi, but expensive..."

"It's a gift. No price tags on gifts. Wear it tomorrow."

Back home, while Dadi remained clueless, the huge bed was installed.

---

Night:

Tara entered her room and gasped.

"Whoa... this is huge! Now that monster can't even try to come close!" She flopped down and rolled all across the bed.

Just then, Vikram walked in. Watching her roll around like a child made him smile.

"She's insane," he thought.

Tara noticed and froze, embarrassed.

They had dinner and went to bed.

Tonight, Tara was confident.

"No need for pillow walls tonight. He's not reaching this side of the bed."

She slept peacefully.

Vikram, however, silently built his own pillow line. "Better safe than sorry. My spine can't take another hit."

---

Morning:

Vikram opened his eyes... only to find Tara hugging him in her sleep again.

He smiled involuntarily.

Then... he hugged her a little tighter and fell asleep again.
