"Damn brat, I'm going to kill you!"
At this moment, the long-haired brute finally understood why Kinkaku had been so furious back then.
Facing an opponent like this, anyone would be enraged.
He had clearly held the advantage all along, yet somehow things kept going wrong.
He could now clearly feel the chakra in his body starting to spiral out of control. He had to end this fight quickly.
"Hell Stab: Three Fingered Assault!"
The long-haired brute gathered chakra into three of his fingers, attempting to pierce through the boy in front of him with sheer force.
This was the most powerful attack he could muster in his current state.
If it landed, the battle would be over.
"Koharu!"
Faced with the brute's oncoming attack, Renya shouted again.
Turning to him, Koharu instantly understood, gritting her teeth through the pain as she formed hand signs.
"Earth Style!"
This was a strategy they had discussed beforehand—one person would assist with ninjutsu to buy time for the others to strike.
The ground beneath the long-haired brute suddenly softened, turning into a thick, sticky swamp.
Although he immediately burst forth with chakra in an attempt to leap away, the growing instability in his chakra control caused a slight delay. The lightning surging from his fingers dissipated into sparks.
"Damn it, why now of all times?!"
He cursed in frustration as he looked down at his legs, now sunken in the mire.
Renya seized this fleeting moment. He caught the expression on the brute's face in full detail, a flicker of excitement flashing through his eyes.
It seemed the drug had fully taken effect.
Without hesitation, he gripped the Banana Palm Fan tightly and swung it with force. The fire that erupted from the fan was countless times hotter than before, coalescing into three ferocious fire dragons that lunged from different directions at the trapped brute.
Seeing this, Shimura Danzō immediately released a Wind Style technique to support him. Wind met flame.
Fueled by the wind, the three fire dragons instantly expanded into a flame storm that engulfed half the battlefield, swallowing the brute entirely.
"Did it work?" Koharu's face filled with anticipation.
But Renya remained on high alert, eyes locked onto the center of the inferno. Suddenly, his pupils shrank as he shouted a warning.
"Fall back, now!"
The raging firestorm was violently torn open from within.
The long-haired brute burst out, his body billowing smoke, the Lightning Armor on him tattered and revealing charred flesh beneath.
His eyes burned with furious flames, his fighting spirit growing even more frenzied.
Perhaps... retreat had never once crossed his mind.
"Uchiha brat!" Every word from the brute's mouth dripped blood. "I'm going to rip you to pieces!"
With his chakra in chaos and his body scorched by fire, every breath he took came with searing pain.
But Renya gave him no chance to recover. His Sharingan, with three tomoe spinning coldly, locked onto the enemy. In his hand, his katana gleamed with a deadly chill.
"Commander-sama, it seems your era is over." Renya's voice was calm but carried an oppressive finality.
Given the brute's current state, he had full confidence he could kill him.
A monster like this... was better off dead.
"Arrogant brat!" the brute roared, forcefully condensing chakra into his fist as lightning surged.
But this time, his movements were clearly slower.
"Still struggling at death's door?"
Renya's lips curled slightly. In a flash, he used Body Flicker Technique to appear beside the brute, katana sweeping out in a clean arc.
Clang!
The long-haired brute barely raised his arm to block, but with his chakra out of control, the defense of his Lightning Armor had dropped drastically—he almost failed to block it entirely.
Realizing this, he dared not take another blow head-on and quickly distanced himself from Renya.
That boy's blade was laced with poison. If even a scratch landed, it would be over.
Renya didn't stop. He slung the Banana Palm Fan over his back and quickly formed hand signs with his left hand.
After a prolonged battle, the fan was better suited for long-range combat—ninjutsu was more convenient in close quarters.
Since he could form seals with one hand, he could easily catch his enemy off guard.
"Fire Style: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique!"
Blazing fireballs shot from his mouth like a rainstorm. The brute gritted his teeth and dodged, but several fireballs still struck him, the scorching pain twisting his expression in agony.
...
In the distance, the transformed Kinkaku was violently suppressing Hiruzen Sarutobi, Uchiha Kagami, and Mitokado Homura. Six tails lashed about wildly, forcing the three to retreat step by step.
"Hahaha! You Konoha trash—today is the day you all die!" Kinkaku howled with laughter, the Nine-Tails chakra raging around him.
As expected, without that damned Uchiha, these people were nothing but weaklings—utterly useless in a fight.
It wouldn't be long now before he could kill a few of them, and then go hunt down that Uchiha to avenge his brother!
With how strong that brute was, surely by the time he got there, that brat would already be dead.
Instinctively, he glanced toward the other battlefield, wanting to confirm whether Renya had already been killed...
"What?!"
Kinkaku's pupils shrank sharply, and the smug expression on his face froze into a look of utter disbelief, as if he'd seen a ghost.
The fierce brute—his body now charred black, Lightning Armor shattered—was being completely overwhelmed by that Uchiha brat!
"Impossible!" Kinkaku was so shocked he nearly shouted out loud.
He had fought Renya before and knew the kid had gotten stronger, but never to the point where he could overpower the brute!
Something must've happened behind the scenes.
He didn't know that the brute's chakra had been suppressed by poison, but what he did know was this—if this continued, they were going to lose... again.
"Damn it!" Alarm bells blared in Kinkaku's mind.
Even though he'd recovered quite a bit, if this dragged on any longer and Renya finished off the brute, then joined the others to gang up on him...
He really might die here today.
This kind of scenario? He'd lived through it three times already—he knew the pattern all too well.
Now was the perfect time to run. If he waited any longer, he'd miss the chance!
The thought of retreat hit him hard.
Now that things hadn't reached the absolute worst yet, it was the ideal moment to escape!
If not now, then when?
And it wasn't like this was his first or even second time running away. He'd long lost any sense of shame over it.
He could always win next time!
Losing once brought anger. Twice was frustration. Three times—defiance. But the fourth time? Acceptance.
As long as he stayed alive...
"You Konoha trash, consider yourselves lucky!" Kinkaku growled, his six tails whipping out and forcing Sarutobi and the others back.
Then he leapt high into the air and charged toward the brute's direction.
"No! Stop him!" Sarutobi's face changed drastically, thinking Kinkaku was heading for Renya.
"Stop fighting—retreat!" Kinkaku roared.
The long-haired brute's eyes flashed with unwillingness. He clearly didn't want to leave.
"Stop fighting, stop it now! Retreat with me!"
Seeing the brute's hesitation, Kinkaku panicked.
"If you keep dragging this out, we're both going to die here today!"
