Chapter 13 - The Secret Close To The Heart

Kiya and the rest are seen walking behind the guard who told them to follow. As they followed the guard, they saw Hitleck and Thomas getting treated. Cameron was not saying a word. Kiya, noticing Cameron's silence, went over to Cameron.

"Hey, Cam… You okay?"

"…..Yes…. I'm….. I'm okay." Cameron said

Kiya nudged him his elbow making Cam lean to the opposite side for a moment.

"Hey, I'm your friend… Remember? And don't friends tell each other everything?"

"Yes… but… I'm okay."

"You can trust me, I won't make fun of you, I won't think you're lame, I won't change my views on you… So feel free to tell me anything."

"I…. It's just that… My friend died and his murderer's getting treated intensively. He is not suffering, he's not in pain. He is okay, I want him to die..." Cameron said as he clenched his fists hard.

"You know, He is going to get a fate far worse than what we could've gave him. His death is going to be caused by that Caged Demon or something. I think there is a reason they call him the Caged Demon."

"Yeah..."

Cameron stopped seeming to hide something.

"I feel like you haven't told me everything." Kiya said.

"It's just that… I see something…. Something behind you... I don't know what it is."

Although Cameron had an extreme degree of knowledge in martial arts, he knew nothing of the world around him. What that monster was, what that creature was. He never knew what it was.

"I…. Always could see something that the human eyes couldn't….. I never knew what it is…. But it seems that your shadow is possessed…. You shadow looks like a man….. A man with a knife…. I don't know what it is."

Suddenly, Kiya's face paled, his heart dropped and his eyes became dark. He looked back to see nothing but his own shadow.

'Damn, he wouldn't leave me alone even after his demise?' Kiya thought, stopping for a moment.

"Hey… you okay." Cam turned around and asked.

"Yeah,I'm okay. Let's go, we're falling behind." Kiya said

They ran lightly, behind the rest of the group.

"Hey, what were you talking about?" Genzo asked

"Not much, Cam was feeling a bit down, his friend was dead after all."

"True, poor guy."

"Yeah poor guy."

They finally reached the front table where all the guards sat. They told the group to sit on the ground.

"I guess we won't need the original plan after all." Fred said as he sat down.

"What?" Kiya asked

"We could simply defeat the Warden or the so called Caged Demon now."

"What? Do you really think WE could defeat A guy called Caged Demon?" Genzo asked, looking tired.

Frederick looked at the three of them. He looked around to see a lazy, which was an understatement and tired guy who was probably going to fall asleep the moment he blinks, a depressed guy, who did not care about anything anymore and a boy whom he heard laugh like an insane man just moments ago.

"Yeah." Fred said as he brought his thumb up and looked at them with sparkling eyes.

"Are you stupid." Genzo asked, still tired.

"No, but I heard that he could not get out of this prison."

"What?" Kiya asked, as he looked over to Genzo who was already asleep.

"The Warden, I heard he was enclosed here by some seal or spell. That means that the Warden cannot touch anyone who was out of the prison. We just need to reach the boundary, then we are free."

"But even if we get out, the guards are gonna catch us." Kiya said.

"That's why I said that my family was looking for me. It has been about five months after I got kidnapped, they must be looking for me. Maybe they couldn't get in because of the Warden."

"Hmm that could be true, but what if your family isn't here?"

"We release all the prisoners."

"What? Are you crazy?"

"What? Releasing men who want to get a piece of the Warden is crazy?"

"Noo, not that. You know that there is a 35 or something km gap between the Warden's office and the Prison block, right?"

"Yes, I'm aware."

"So if you're aware, why did you make a plan like that?"

"You have noticed that I can compete with Hitleck, right?"

"Yeaahhh, right"

"So that must mean that I have superhuman strength too, right?"

"No, that could just mean that you have really good stamina."

"I mean… I do have really good stamina, but I also have an advantage that keeps me from exhausting my stamina."

"And what must that be?" Kiya asked sarcastically.

"Blid."

"BLID? YOU HAD A BLID WEAPON AND NEVER TOLD ANYONE?"

"I do not have Melanix."

"What's a Melanix?"

"The term used for Blid weapons."

"Oh, right. So what do you have?"

"Like I said, Blid."

"What?"

Genzo woke up popping his sleep bubble after hearing Kiya scream.

"What the hell is happening, won't even let me sleep?"

"Fred has Blid and told no one." Kiya said

"WHAT? YOU HAVE BLID AND TOLD NO ONE?"

"Exactly."

"Ok, listen, I only have Blid, I do not have a Melanix."

"So why don't you turn it into a weapon?"

"I can't."

"Why?"

Suddenly, Genzo realised something.

"Wait." Genzo said.

"What?" Kiya asked.

"Is the Blid fused with you?" Genzo asked.

"Yes" said Frederick.

"How do you fuse with an unnatural liquid that LITERALLY gives you SUPERPOWERS?"

"Yeah, i don't know how it works though." Said Frederick.

"Yeah, I'm the same." Genzo said.

"I kinda knew that cuz you said it to me."

"But I know one thing, I can use an ability without a Melanix for the price of one year of my entire life."

"What?" Genzo and Kiya exclaimed.

"ONE WHOLE YEAR?" Kiya said in disbelief. "Does it like know how to measure one year or is there some other way."

"How do you know how to control it?" Genzo asked

"My mom taught me. I inherited her Blid." Fred said, remembering his moments with his mother.

"Oh, how'd your mom know?"

"I don't know but she taught me and told me to use it only to save your friends and family. She told me to use it, only to protect."

"So how does it work?" Asked Kiya.

"You'll see." Fred said with a wink.

"Alright, fiinee." Kiya said.

They rested for another minute, Genzo falling asleep. Kiya, Fred and Cam were drifting away.

They all slept, unaware of the rising tide. The monsters that roamed these lands were powerful, but those who were caged forcefully were there for a reason.
