Chapter 3 - Captured

"How is he doing?" Michonne asked while subtly glancing at Glenn, who was sitting against the barn wall with a dark look while staring at the ground.

Maggie looked at Michonne and everyone else who were huddled up after Rick interrogated Aaron.

They were all worried about Glenn; he was their moral anchor and was usually the most rational of the bunch.

So to see his outburst and mental change after having known how he used to be was hard for them to see, but they all understood.

Being out here, surrounded by the dead, took a toll.

"He'll be okay, he's just tired. We all are." Maggie said while looking at Rick

"We need to go see if Aaron is telling the truth, see if there are any cars," Maggie said to Rick, who shook his head.

"It's too dangerous."

"Rick, we have to find out what this is. We have to." Michonne nodded toward Glenn, and Rick glanced over, making him understand.

They had to find a place to settle down soon, even Glenn was reaching his limit.

Rick glanced at Judith, who was in Carl's arms, before sighing.

"Abraham," Rick called out, and Abraham nodded.

"Yeah. I'll go."

"Rosita?"

"Okay." Rosita nodded

"I'll go to." Glenn stood up and walked over.

Rick glanced over and checked him up and down.

"You good?" Rick asked. Glenn was like a brother to him.

Glenn nodded, but anyone could see the way his eyes were hardened and jaw clenched, but Rick didn't say anything.

It was just the way the world was now.

"Take this." Rick handed him the snub nose he had gotten from Aaron and Glenn shoved it into his waistband just in case shit went bad and he needed something extra.

Rick turned back around to talk to everyone at once.

"The walkies are out of juice. If you're not back in sixty minutes, we'll come. Which might be just what they want."

The group nodded before leaving the barn behind for Rick to guard.

Outside the barn doors, Glenn stopped and looked around before spotting a wide-open field in the distance.

Remembering his past life, he remembered Aaron talking about how Eric had watched them walk down the road from somewhere in the field.

If he could capture Eric now, things would be a lot smoother sailing toward Alexandria.

"Glenn, what's wrong?" Maggie and the others stopped after noticing Glenn hadn't been following them.

"Aaron said there was one other person. They've been watching us. I have a plan. You guys, go get the cars. Trust me." Glenn nodded before sprinting right into the treeline that ran along the open field.

"Glenn, wait!" Maggie called out, but Glenn was already gone.

Sprinting through the forest Glenn saw tons of trees on the ground that got knocked over during the storm.

He made sure to stay near the treeline of the field so he didn't get lost, but not too close to where he would be seen.

He was pretty sure Eric would be focused on the others all grouped up walking down the main road like they owned the bitch.

That had always been their main problem, it's what got him killed in the end.

His arrogance. He thought he had the luxury of someone who could afford mercy, but he was wrong.

He wouldn't make the same mistake twice.

Sprinting through the forest his steps were almost completely silent. His eyes scanned the entire forest, from the crushed walkers under the trees to the distant noises of stumbling walkers.

It was all instinct now after being out here for so long. He knew walkers the best, he knew how to scout a building, get in, and get out clean.

It was the people that became unpredictable. People you thought you had figured out could change in a heartbeat, and boom, you're dead.

After ten minutes of running Glenn could feel himself begin to grow a little tired. The days of no food were taking a toll on his body.

Coming up on the other side of the field he saw a lone tractor and hiding right behind one of the tires he spotted Eric who was peeking out and watching the others walking down the main road.

He wasn't worried that the others would ruin his stealthy approach, as they were already walking deeper into the forest where he knew they would find an RV and a car.

Crossing out onto the open field Glenn approached Eric from behind as quietly as he could.

His gun was raised, and his finger was on the trigger.

He wasn't taking any chances. Eric, despite having probably the most experience alongside Aaron outside the walls of Alexandria, still lacked a lot, as he seemed to forget to check his surroundings. He continued to watch the others walk away down the main road.

Glenn was quite happy Eric decided to get tunnel vision on the others he got a few feet away from him before stopping.

He knew never to get too close up. The person could always turn the tables by grabbing your gun and being in the range of a knife when you didn't need to be was a mistake he learned a long time ago.

"Hands in the air. I see you twitch your dead." Glenn called out and he visibly saw Eric recoil in surprise before turning around and glancing at him.

"Now!" Glenn called out sternly to snap him out of his surprise.

Eric seemed to wake up as he quickly put his hands up above his head.

"I don't want any problems. No one needs to get hurt."

"Took the words straight out of my mouth," Glenn said

"Now lay your gun and pack on the ground in a slow manner, if you so much as twitch too fast-"

"Yeah, yeah, you'll shoot me, I got it." Eric finished his sentence before slowly unbuckling his gun holster from his waist and laying it on the ground along with his bag.

Glenn knew Eric would most likely be cooperative as they literally had his boyfriend captive at that exact moment, but he still wasn't taking any chances.

"Now turn around and walk forward five feet, hands on your head."

Eric did as Glenn instructed before Glenn walked forward, took Eric's gear pulled out a zip tie, and grabbed Eric's hands before he zip-tied them.

"Is that really necessary? I'm unarmed. I assume you know im with Aaron and we are just trying to help you." Eric tried to convince him.

"Just shut up and walk." Glenn checked his surroundings and figured the others along with his wife had already found the RV and the car and were heading back toward the barn.

They could probably make it back to the barn by walking within twenty five minutes.

With Eric as a hostage Rick would believe Aaron was telling the truth about there only being one other person with him and he would be forced to tell them the entire route to Alexandria unless he wanted Eric dead.

Not that they would kill Eric over something so petty, but Aaron didnt know that.
