Chapter 1 - The Lost Sprout

It was July

In the town of Hertford, on the outskirts of London.

A muggy mist enveloped the area, making people feel as if they were baking in a steamer.

And with a bang from within the mist.

A lady in her fifties, wearing a patched-up pointed hat, rushed out of the mist.

If any Hogwarts student were here, they would surely be surprised to find that.

Professor Pomona Sprout, the Dean of Hufflepuff, who had always been as calm and gentle as the land she tended, was showing unprecedented excitement.

"Robin, my poor brother."

"If Dumbledore hadn't told me that the Book of Admittance had written down a name called Aiden Sprout."

"I once thought my whole family had perished at the hands of Death Eaters."

"Merlin, Aiden, that child—"

"The bloodline of the Sprout family lives, he's still alive!"

Professor Sprout panted rapidly, her eyes filled with intense guilt and remorse

.

For so many years, she couldn't imagine how a child had survived.

As his only relative, she had failed to fulfill her duty to raise him.

Then, Professor Sprout's expression became resolute.

She must bring this child back to the magic world and use all her abilities to compensate him.

Immediately, she hurried towards the location recorded on a piece of paper.

"Lister Plantation..."

"The address in the Book of Admittance is here."

Professor Sprout waved her wand.

The mist in front of her seemed to be grasped by an invisible hand, parting to both sides.

Revealed within the mist was a slender figure.

Upon seeing that figure, a sense of blood connection instantly resonated in Professor Sprout's heart.

But when she saw what the child named Aiden Sprout was doing.

Her face suddenly turned pale, and her eyes showed pain and self-reproach.

At Lister Plantation at this moment.

Aiden was holding a shovel, digging the soil one scoop at a time.

Even though the plantation was much muggier than outside, his expression showed no slack, but was fully focused on the task of digging.

Until a neat pit was dug out.

Aiden then carefully planted a cotton seedling.

Only then did a hint of joy appear on his face.

"Done!"

In his vision, which only he could see, a line of text appeared on the newly planted cotton seedling.

[Successfully planted cotton x1]

Then, a faint ball of light also appeared on the cotton seedling.

[Planting Reward - Extremely slight increase in heat resistance (in gestation)]

[Upon plant maturation, the reward will upgrade to - Slight increase in heat resistance, extremely slight increase in drought resistance]

Aiden looked at the neat rows of cotton seedlings in the plantation, his eyes showing anticipation.

"Once this batch of cotton seedlings matures, and I harvest one last crop."

"My heat and drought resistance will probably be enough to plant trees in the Sahara Desert without breaking a sweat."

That's right, Aiden was a transmigrator.

In his previous life, he was an agricultural graduate student, researching new crops in experimental fields deep in the mountains.

As a result of a heavy rain, he encountered a landslide.

When Aiden opened his eyes, he found himself in London, Britain, in the 1980s, transmigrated as an orphan.

Fortunately, he still had his memories from his previous life.

Relying on planting techniques ahead of this era, he was finally able to make a living on the farm.

It was from the moment Aiden personally planted the first plant as a demonstration.

He discovered that he could see text and light clusters appearing on the plants.

At that time, he once thought he was hallucinating.

It wasn't until he personally touched the light cluster and truly gained some benefits from it.

Only then did Aiden understand that this was his golden finger after transmigration.

He called it—the Planting System!

As long as Aiden personally planted a plant and ensured the planting conditions were suitable.

Then he could receive a certain related reward.

If he waited until the plant matured before claiming it, the reward would also upgrade significantly.

Simple and direct.

It wasn't as overpowered as systems like Stat points adding system or heaven-defying comprehension system.

Instead, it perfectly embodied the principle of 'you reap what you sow'.

Perhaps others might find the process of planting, waiting for maturity, and harvesting too dry and boring.

But for Aiden, who was an agricultural student in his previous life.

Getting rewards just by planting plants, and more rewards by planting more, this system was truly amazing.

After all, in his previous life, planting a new type of crop didn't necessarily guarantee a paper that would let you graduate.

If he encountered hail or strong winds.

Even worse, some old women would sneak into the experimental field in the middle of the night to pick half an acre of fruit, and then complain it was sour.

That moment would definitely make an agricultural student spit out three liters of blood.

Thinking of the nightmare of his previous life, Aiden shivered, then picked up the shovel again.

"You scared me."

"Let's plant another cotton plant to calm my nerves."

"Speaking of which, Mr. Lister is really a good person."

"He's willing to risk violating the Child Protection Act just to give me a whole plantation to farm rewards."

"And he pays me wages."

"If it weren't for him, how could I accumulate these rewards so quickly?"

"This little life, it's so comfortable!"

In the muggy plantation.

Aiden tirelessly swung his shovel, planting cotton plants one by one.

This scene, however, was like a knife twisting in Professor Sprout's heart.

She had originally thought that her nephew, who had been displaced to the Muggle world, might at worst be adopted by an orphanage.

But she never expected that in 1991, Britain would still have cotton plantations.

Her nephew, a child of only eleven, had fallen so low as to be forced to labor like a slave in a plantation.

No, slaves at least had food and wage.

She had watched Aiden work for so long, and he hadn't even had a sip of water!

Professor Sprout drew her wand and pointed it at Mr. Lister, the plantation owner, her expression rarely seen in such fury.

"Vampire!"

"No, even a Vampire is more benevolent than you!"

Mr. Lister's face was pale, and he was sweating profusely.

Before he could explain anything, he was knocked unconscious by a Stupefy from Professor Sprout.

Professor Sprout took a deep breath.

In that instant.

She even wanted to cast a Crucio on Mr. Lister!

But now.

She had to take Aiden away from this deranged plantation.

Striding into the plantation.

Professor Sprout's footsteps also caught Aiden attention.

"Madam, are you...?"

Aiden's face was full of confusion.

Professor Sprout, on the other hand, flushed red.

"Aiden."

"From today onwards, you don't have to work in the plantation anymore..."

Upon hearing this, Aiden's heart instantly sank.

Bad news.

He studied agriculture, not economics.

He didn't know what the world economy was like now.

But from the looks of it, it should be an economic depression, right?

Otherwise, why would someone come to take his job when he was doing so well?

He hadn't even harvested this batch of cotton yet!

But fortunately, Aiden had been planting plants for so many years.

With the accumulation of various rewards over time, his endurance for thirst and hunger had already surpassed ordinary people.

He could even feel refreshed just by basking in the sun.

His sleep time could be greatly reduced.

Otherwise, how could he independently manage a plantation?

Aiden looked at Professor Sprout with a firm expression.

"Madam, if you want to take my job, I advise you to consider carefully."

"I can work without wages, without food, without water, and even without sleep."

"Can you?"
