Chapter 228: The S-Rank Knowledge Inheritance of the Chinoike Clan!
'Hidan the Immortal's mysterious forbidden jutsu, Death Controlling Possessed Blood!'
Keisuke looked at the A-rank technique [Summoning: Blood Source Curse] on his panel, and the name of another special jutsu instantly surfaced in his mind. 'And... this seems to be the original version.'
Hidan's technique, after obtaining an enemy's blood, forcibly "shared" all damage he inflicted on himself with the victim. It was an atypical "damage reflection" jutsu, or rather, "damage sharing." The problem was, it didn't prevent Hidan himself from taking the damage. However, due to his unique "immortality," he could completely ignore the self-mutilation effect. What was originally a "one-life-for-one-life" suicide move became, in his hands, an S-rank forbidden art of "blood for a life."
Hidan didn't fear being stabbed through the heart or beheaded, but a normal ninja certainly did. In theory, he could use this jutsu to curse and kill almost any ninja in the world. Unfortunately for him... Hidan's intelligence was probably lower than even Uchiha Kenji's. His god-tier ability never reached its true, terrifying potential.
And this A-rank technique, [Blood Source Curse], was functionally identical to his. It was a damage-sharing jutsu that used blood as a medium.
'The S-rank [Blood Pond], the A-rank [Blood Source Curse], the B-rank [Blood-Colored Contract]... these three techniques, when combined, seem to form the basis of Hidan's ritual. The only question is, the future Hidan gained his immortality through a Jashin cult experiment. These Chinoike Clan jutsu have no mention of such a thing... so where did his immortality come from?'
He quickly reviewed the other jutsu. The A-rank [Blood Dragon Technique] used the Ketsuryūgan to manipulate blood into a giant dragon. The B-rank [Exploding Blood Technique] used the Ketsuryūgan to inject blood and Yin chakra into an enemy to control their mind and turn them into a human bomb. The B-rank [Blood Transformation] used Yang chakra to convert different types of blood cells to heal oneself or others. None of them mentioned immortality.
'Then there are only two possibilities. Either the Jashin cult had another breakthrough later, or they successfully completed the S-rank [Blood Pond] jutsu, and from that, created the immortal Hidan.'
If it was the latter, considering when Hidan appeared, it was likely the Jashin cult had spent nearly twenty years perfecting the jutsu.
'Completing the [Blood Pond] is meaningless to me. The correct path is to use its principles to create a true 'cloud storage' jutsu for myself. But...' He looked at the description for [Blood Transformation] again, then thought back to another S-rank jutsu. 'Why is this so similar to the second effect of my [Art of Cellular Regeneration]?'
'A coincidence? Or did Orochimaru also have contact with the Chinoike Clan? Through Oyakata En, perhaps?'
He couldn't find an answer and pushed the thought aside. Of the six jutsu he had just looted, the ones he valued most were undoubtedly [Blood Pond] and the [Blood-Colored Contract]. The rest, he would just add to his collection.
"Captain," Shisui's voice echoed through the valley as he finished the interrogation and flickered to Keisuke's side. "According to the prisoner, the mysterious masked man has been in contact with this cult for a very long time. The reason this Yugakure ninja founded the Jashin cult was partly because he was dissatisfied with his own village's passivity in the war, and partly because he was 'guided' by the masked man. Those scrolls weren't given to him three days ago; he's had them for years."
That makes more sense. There was no way the priest could have mastered the A-rank Blood Dragon Technique in just three days.
"When was the cult founded? Early in the Third War?" Keisuke asked.
"Yes. Only a few of his followers were from Yugakure; most were war refugees he lured in," Shisui reported, his voice calm, but the three tomoe in his eyes spinning restlessly betrayed his inner turmoil. "With the masked man's help, the priest formed a blood pact with the so-called 'Jashin,' gaining the ability to control blood and minds... and then guided his followers to slaughter each other. In his words, this was 'offering everything to Jashin'!"
"This 'Jashin'..." Keisuke frowned. "Under your genjutsu, did he still insist it was real?"
"Yes."
"He didn't break the illusion?"
"...I don't think so."
"Then what is Jashin?"
"According to him, the 'god' is hidden within this blood pool," Shisui said, gesturing to the pond. "The 'Blood Dragon' was just his own A-rank jutsu. He couldn't describe Jashin's specific form, only... 'a pair of giant, constantly bleeding, hate-filled eyes'."
Giant eyes? An aggregation of Ketsuryūgan? Runaway Yin chakra from too much blood? Keisuke shook his head and fiddled with the kunai in his hand. "What about the masked man? Did he give up any more intel?"
"No," Shisui shook his head. "The contact was always one-way. Even the priest couldn't contact him. This recent attack was a mission that was suddenly dropped on him without any warning."
"Did he say why the masked man guided him to create the cult? What was his true motive?"
"No..." Shisui said, frustrated. "Captain, my genjutsu, 'Shiranui,' is powerful for interrogation, but it's also very damaging to the subject's mind. He couldn't hold out for very long. If you want more detailed information, I suggest we find a Yamanaka."
"Forget it. Too troublesome," Keisuke said, gripping the kunai like an ice pick. "Let's see if he dies first..."
He knelt and stabbed the kunai into the blood-soaked earth. A complex web of black symbols spread out from the blade, rushing towards the blood pond and forming a sealing array on its surface.
Four Symbols Seal!
The ominous, hateful chakra that had filled the valley was instantly locked away. Keisuke pushed the kunai deep into the ground, concealing it. "For now, that'll do. Let's go check on that guy. If he's not dead—"
Before he could finish, Shizune's voice cried out from the Shadow Creature. "Captain! The priest... he just died, for no reason!"
"Captain," Retsu's voice followed. "I saw the last of his chakra being absorbed into the blood pool from a distance."
So that's an effect of the [Blood Pond]?
Keisuke leaped onto the Shadow Creature's back and looked at the withered corpse. "Dying saves us trouble. Let's go back and report the mission."
After handing the priest's body over to the camp's corpse-disposal unit, Keisuke settled the S-rank mission.
