Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The First Mission of Jake Hatro

After the Hatro family meeting, Mr. Sdreous — Jake's teacher — walked into his private room filled with old books. He flipped through one after another, searching carefully. Hours passed. Then finally, he stopped.

> "Yes... this is it," he whispered.

"The Black Sun and the Great Light Star. That's why the Hunter of Black Magic and the Defender of Light return after 5000 years…"

A few days later, Jake Hatro woke up in his luxurious room decorated with paintings of old kings and warriors. He stretched and muttered:

> "Another boring day…"

Outside his room, a servant stood ready with a glass of juice. Jake took it and began walking to his private swimming pool. After swimming for a while, another worker approached.

> "Sir, breakfast is ready. Your father is waiting."

Jake dried off, dressed in fresh noble clothes, and walked to the large dining room. The table was filled with food, but only three people were present: his father House Hatro, Mr. Sdreous, and himself.

> "Good morning, Father. Teacher," Jake greeted.

House Hatro turned to Mr. Sdreous.

> "I want you and Tole to visit the City of Albertos. Try to find information about the Hunter."

Jake perked up.

> "Can I go too?"

Mr. Sdreous smiled.

> "It would be a good idea, sir. He'll learn more that way."

Hatro nodded.

> "Fine, Jake. But don't cause any trouble."

Jake smiled wide.

> "Thank you, Father."

> "Make yourself ready," Mr. Sdreous said. "We leave this morning."

Jake quickly packed a small bag with everything he needed. Soon, he joined Mr. Sdreous and Tole Khan. They saddled their horses and began their journey. It was Jake's first time leaving the capital, and he admired the beauty of the land — green jungles, high mountains, peaceful rivers.

> "We have a beautiful country," Jake said.

> "Yes," Sdreous replied. "And the world is full of wonders."

> "Someday… I want to see all of it."

A few hours later, Tole pointed ahead.

> "We're close. That's the Princess's city."

But when they arrived — it was chaos.

Knights were rushing through the streets. Fire and ice had both torn the city apart. Mr. Sdreous turned to Jake.

> "Stay close. But look carefully."

The city was frozen. Bodies of nobles were trapped under layers of ice. Poor villagers were trying to break through with bare hands. Jake sat silently on his horse, dressed in fine noble clothes, watching in silence.

Then… something caught his eye.

He saw the place where Azazel had supposedly emerged from the earth.

> "That's the spot. I saw it in the book… Azel came from there when the Hunter appeared. That means… the Hunter survived the battle."

Suddenly, Jake heard a small voice.

> "Please! Someone help! My grandmother is trapped in the ice!"

A small boy cried to the knights — but they pushed him away.

> "Get lost, street rat! Your life has no value."

The knight raised his sword to strike the boy.

But before he could — the blade froze in the air.Jake had raised his hand, releasing a magic force that stopped the weapon. He walked forward.

> "Knight," Jake said coldly. "What is your role?"

The knight stepped back, realizing Jake was a noble.

> "To… protect the people, sir."

> "Then why are you doing the opposite?"

> "He's nothing, sir. A beggar!"

Jake clenched his hand — the knight's arm snapped with a crack.

> "Then go do your job. Save the people."

Jake turned to the boy.

> "Where is your grandmother?

The boy pointed to a frozen house. Jake walked toward it.

> "By the gift in my blood," he whispered. "Melt."

A circle of water formed around the house as the ice turned to steam.

Inside, he found the old woman lying unconscious.

> "Healing Light," Jake said softly.

She woke up, weakly opening her eyes. She saw her grandson and whispered:

> "Are you there, my son?"

He hugged her tight.

But then, she looked at Jake and gasped.

> "Please, sir! Don't kill us!"

Jake stepped back.

> "I… I would never do that, lady."

He offered her food, but she crawled backward in fear.

Jake said nothing, placed food on the table, and quietly left.

Later, the old woman came back.

> "My grandson told me what you did. I'm sorry for what I said earlier."

Jake nodded.

> "You don't have to apologize. But why did you think I'd kill you?"

She lowered her head.

> "Nobles killed my son and his wife… for fun."

> "For fun? Why?"

> "They said our lives meant nothing."

Jake asked,

> "Who were the nobles?"

> "No need. He died in the fire the Hunter created."

Jake's eyes widened.

> "The Hunter? You saw him?"

> "Yes. He was about your age. Green eyes, black hair. His clothes were covered in blood."

She explained more:

> "The commander said they had cut off his head. But his body stood up again… and he became stronger."

> "What kind of healing magic is that?" Jake whispered. "Even the strongest only use two types…"

> "He created demons of fire using dead knights. They attacked the nobles — but they didn't harm the weak. And then Azel appeared."

She continued:

> "The Hunter saved a boy from Azel's flames. Then he fought using ice magic. He froze the entire city… and disappeared."

Jake was stunned.

> "Fire… light… ice. Three kinds of magic?"

The old woman nodded.

> "If you want to know more… go to the jungle."

Jake handed her five gold coins.

> "Thank you."

Then he entered the jungle alone.

The air was thick with death. Rotting bodies, burned trees, and dark whispers.

Jake walked ahead, looking around carefully. But there was nothing special—just destruction and the broken remains of bodies, with birds circling and landing to feed on the dead.

He kept walking, his eyes scanning everything, until he reached the place where Sirab had slaughtered the king's soldiers and their hunting dogs.

Jake froze.

"I... I can't even look at this place," he whispered. "How could he do all this? If he's the same age as me… how is he this powerful?"

Just then, he heard a voice behind him.

… hundreds of them.

> "Save us…"

A cursed creature made of meat, born from dead knights, rose before him.
