Chapter 26 - 26. SIEGE

The halls shook with gunfire, the pounding boots of enforcers echoing like war drums. They sprinted down the corridor, slipping in blood, the air thick with smoke. Iris never faltered, her eyes fixed ahead, jaw clenched tight. Jonas wheezed behind them, face pale as death.

They ducked into an old storage room, slamming the door shut. Iris flipped a table to block it, while Ava checked the ammo in her rifle. Two magazines left. Enough to carve a path through hell.

Jonas slumped to the floor, clutching his wound. "We can't keep running… they'll find us…"

Ava snarled, grabbing his collar. "Then we make them bleed first."

Suddenly, the door rattled, fists pounding against the metal. Iris lifted her blade, eyes gleaming. "They're here."

The door burst open and chaos exploded. Gunfire roared, sparks flying as bullets tore through the air. Ava fired back, cutting down three enforcers. Iris leapt into the fray, slashing throats, blood spraying the walls.

Jonas screamed, crawling under the table as bodies fell around him. Ava grabbed a fresh magazine, slamming it into my rifle, moving with cold precision.

When the last guard fell, the room was silent except for the ragged sound of their breathing.

Iris wiped her blade on a dead man's uniform. "We're not done."

Ava nodded, pulling Jonas to his feet. "Security Hub. Now."

They moved through the halls like wraiths, leaving a trail of bodies in our wake. Ava kicked open the Security Hub door, bullets ripping into the ceiling as guards scrambled for their weapons.

Iris threw a flash grenade, white light searing the room. Ava dove in, firing, feeling the rifle buck in her hands. Screams filled the air, blood spraying across the consoles.

Jonas collapsed behind a desk, clutching his head, whimpering. Iris tore through the room, blade flashing, every movement a dance of death.

When the smoke cleared, they stood alone among the dead. Ava kicked the console, screens flickering to life. Security feeds showed chaos ,fires, bodies, enforcers scrambling like rats.

Ava grinned. "Time to lock the doors."

She slammed her fist on the panel, sealing the sector tight. The Circle was trapped with them now and they had nowhere left to run.

The heavy doors slammed shut behind them, cutting off the hallway like a steel coffin. They could hear the Circle soldiers on the other side, pounding and shouting orders, their boots thundering on the floor. The security screens flickered with static, showing smoke-choked corridors, flickering emergency lights, and the wild, terrified faces of men who had once called themselves untouchable.

Iris wiped blood from her cheek, eyes blazing. "Let them claw at the walls," she whispered. "Let them choke on their own fear."

Jonas whimpered from where he sat slumped against the wall, eyes glassy. "This… this is madness… they'll kill us all…"

Ava ignored him, turning to the console and scanning through the feeds. The east wing was already engulfed in flame, black smoke rolling down the corridors. Gunfire rattled from a sealed door where enforcers fired uselessly at reinforced steel. They had nowhere left to go.

She pressed the intercom button, letting her voice echo through every speaker. "This is what you wanted. Blood. Fire. Now drown in it."

Iris let out a bark of laughter, kicking over a chair. "What's the plan?"

Ava grinned. "We hunt them. We tear them down room by room until no one is left breathing."

A bang echoed from the hallway. Jonas screamed, covering his ears. "You're monsters!" he sobbed. "All of you…"

Ava leaned close, her voice ice. "That's exactly what they made us."

Iris hefted her rifle. "Then let's finish what they started."

The walls shook with distant explosions. Flames roared through the vents. They stepped out of the Security Hub together, moving like wolves into the chaos. This was their fortress now and they would turn it into their graveyard.
