At Kikyo Pass, within the secret encampment of Sunagakure.
Rasa was presiding over a meeting. The tent was packed with numerous shinobi, all of whom were the Jonin of Sunagakure the village's top-tier power.
"We have received word that Iwagakure has begun their offensive against the Land of Fire. This is our chance," Rasa said, looking down at the assembled crowd.
"Iwagakure has finally attacked the Land of Fire." A ripple of joy spread through the Sand Ninja.
They were well aware of the alliance between Sunagakure and Iwagakure, but the Stone Ninja had remained idle for a long time. They had even begun to suspect that Iwagakure intended to tear up the treaty.
Though the shinobi of Sunagakure did not fear Konoha, they had to admit that Konoha's overall strength was superior. Had Konoha not held back the majority of its power to guard against potential sneak attacks from other villages, the Sand Ninja would be having an even harder time than they already were.
"Now, let us discuss the recent developments between Konoha and Sunagakure, as well as the combat preparations we may need to undertake. One thing is clear: Iwagakure's offensive will inevitably cause the shinobi here to grow restless. When that happens, Sunagakure might finally secure a brilliant victory," Rasa said slowly.
After some time, once the distributions and arrangements for the subsequent stages of the war were settled, most people left. Only a few remained behind. These individuals were the true high-ranking officials of Suna.
Chiyo was among them.
"Everyone is likely aware of the current state of the war. There is one person who has caused us staggering losses something even Jiraiya and Orochimaru found difficult to achieve," Rasa stated.
"Are you referring to that Konoha genius, Tianyuan?" one middle-aged Sand Ninja asked.
"Yes, him. He has inflicted massive damage upon our forces, so we must consider how to keep him on this battlefield permanently." Rasa's gaze swept across the map of the front.
"I have looked into Tianyuan's strength," Chiyo said slowly. "Ordinary shinobi can hardly hope to detain him. Even the Kazekage or myself would find it difficult. Therefore, we must utilize a specific power the power of Shukaku."
"The power of Shukaku." The words sent a tremor through the hearts of the other Sand Ninja. This Tailed Beast was Sunagakure's strategic asset. Since the death of the previous Jinchuriki, the beast had remained in a state of seal.
"Shukaku?" Rasa fell into deep thought. Ever since Sunagakure had been attacked, he had brought Shukaku along, hoping for the day he might need it.
He hadn't expected that day to arrive so soon.
"That won't be a problem," Rasa nodded. "Furthermore, we must maintain a grasp on Tianyuan's movements. Using Shukaku alone to attack him is risky; the beast does not distinguish between friend and foe. We will likely need to set up a barrier to trap them both inside."
"That is feasible," another Sand Ninja added. "A barrier capable of withstanding the power of a Tailed Beast for a short duration only requires a coordinated effort from our shinobi."
"Good. Then let us plan exactly how to deal with this Tianyuan." A cold sneer tugged at the corner of Rasa's mouth.
Having been defeated directly by Tianyuan within his own village, Rasa had lost significant face and had wanted to eliminate him ever since. Not to mention, Tianyuan was currently a massive threat to Sunagakure in this Great Ninja War.
Tianyuan was naturally unaware of these schemes, but even if he knew, he would not be afraid. If they truly intended to use Shukaku to attack him, he would welcome it.
Konoha Encampment.
Tianyuan was discussing the mission arrangements for the following day with Jiraiya and the others, as well as the specific areas they needed to scout.
Outside, the sky was gradually darkening.
Tianyuan walked through the Konoha station with a young girl following beside him—his acquaintance, Kurenai. Having become a Chunin, Kurenai had also joined the war effort. During this time, she had matured rapidly.
"Kurenai, have you been doing alright lately?" Tianyuan asked, looking at her face, which was tinged with the scent of gunpowder and smoke.
The shinobi world was cruel; children were forced onto the battlefield at a young age. Kurenai was relatively lucky, as she was already in her teens and a Chunin by the time she was deployed.
During the Second Shinobi World War, some were sent to the front lines the moment they graduated. In this world, there was no distinction between children and adults only the difference in strength.
"I'm fine, Tianyuan. Thank you," Kurenai said, shaking her head. Tianyuan had helped her a great deal recently, not only by instructing her in Genjutsu but also by having her join his squad. By keeping her in his own unit, Tianyuan could protect her more effectively.
"Tianyuan, with Kurenai again? Are you trying to hit on her or something?" Kushina Uzumaki arrived, acting in her usual boisterous manner.
"Lady Kushina!" At those words, Kurenai's face flushed red, and she stole a bashful glance at Tianyuan.
"Kushina, if you keep talking like that, don't blame me for what happens next," Tianyuan said, looking at her speechlessly. Does she have to be so blunt?
"Oh, I'm so scared! I'll be going then. Kurenai, keep working hard!" Kushina teased, giving the girl a wink.
"Kurenai, let's go," Tianyuan said. "Rest early; we have a mission tomorrow."
"Yes, I understand," Kurenai nodded, her cheeks as red as apples.
The next day.
Tianyuan led his squad to search a specific area, scouting for any hidden Sand Ninja. His squad numbered around a dozen people, which was quite a substantial force.
"Hmm." Tianyuan's gaze shifted toward a certain direction, and he paused.
"What is it, Tianyuan?" Kushina asked from beside him.
"I think I've found something." Tianyuan let out a small smile. "Kushina, take these subordinates and notify Jiraiya and Orochimaru. Tell them to head this way. We might have a big fish on the hook."
"Then what about you?" Kushina asked, startled.
"I'm going to scout ahead. Besides, you know I have the Flying Thunder God Technique. Don't worry about me," Tianyuan said.
"Fine, but be careful. I'll go notify them now." Kushina then led the subordinates away.
Tianyuan watched them leave before whispering to himself, "The signal for an ultra-clear video is truly a rare find."
