Dr. Alistair Finch stood in the doorway with his mouth hanging open. Behind him, Dr. Marcus Webb wore an expression of pure disbelief. The other medical staff who had gathered to witness the emergency treatment stared at me like I had performed actual magic.
"Nine Deaths Powder," Dr. Finch whispered. "You identified Nine Deaths Powder just by examining him?"
"I've never even heard of it," another doctor muttered from the back of the room.
I kept my hands pressed against Patrick's chest, maintaining the flow of True Qi that was keeping him alive. "It's an ancient poison formula. Most modern physicians wouldn't recognize it because the ingredients haven't been used in traditional toxicology for over a century."
"How do you know about such an obscure poison?" Dr. Webb asked, his scientific curiosity overriding his shock.
"My master taught me many things that aren't found in modern medical textbooks," I replied simply.
