"Get out!" Bella Morgan's voice cracked like a whip through the marble foyer. "How dare you show your face here after what you've done to our family!"
I stood calmly as she stormed down the remaining steps, her face twisted with rage. Behind her, Clara Morgan appeared at the top of the staircase, equally furious.
"You have some nerve coming here," Clara spat, following her sister down. "After humiliating us in front of the entire city!"
The commotion drew Felix and Helena Morgan from the sitting room. Felix's face darkened the moment he saw me.
"Security!" he bellowed. "Get this peasant out of my house immediately!"
Helena pointed a trembling finger at me. "You destroyed our reputation! Our engagement announcements became a laughingstock because of you!"
"I came here to help Arthur Morgan," I said simply. "I heard he was critically ill."
Bella laughed harshly. "Help? You? A mountain bumpkin who probably learned medicine from watching YouTube videos?"
