Chapter 65 – Dai Mubai Tries to Steal Love

Zhu Zhuqing had known Zu Zong for a long time. Her journey to Shrek Academy wasn't to find Dai Mubai—it was to find her boyfriend.

From Yu Xiaogang's explanation, everyone concluded: the one trying to steal love was Dai Mubai, not Zu Zong.

"Master, could you tell us more about Zu Zong?" Ning Rongrong's eyes lit up.

She was curious to know what kind of person this gifted youth really was.

Technically, she'd only met him twice—once because of his looks, and the second time because of his power.

Especially after hearing he reached Soul Elder at just eleven years old, she had been shocked.

Yu Xiaogang nodded and said seriously, "We have to go back six years. I had taken Xiao San to the Soul Hunting Forest for his first soul ring."

"Unfortunately, we were chased by a nearly 400-year-old Mandala Snake. We would've died... if not for Zu Zong and the dean of Nuoding Academy."

"Zu Zong had just obtained his first soul ring, but still managed to subdue the Mandala Snake. The dean then killed it. If they hadn't helped us, Xiao San and I wouldn't be here."

"Isn't that a good thing? Then why does Xiao San hate Zu Zong?" Meng Yiran asked.

She became especially attentive whenever Tang San was mentioned.

Ning Rongrong suddenly recalled something. "Wait, didn't Zu Zong say yesterday that Tang San still blames him for the first soul ring?"

Yu Xiaogang's face turned stiff. After a long pause, he said, "That's... my fault."

"Zu Zong and the dean were only trying to help. But they struck too hard and killed the Mandala Snake. As you all know, a soul master has to personally kill the beast to absorb the ring."

"The Mandala Snake was perfect for Xiao San. When he found out it was killed, he assumed Zu Zong ruined it on purpose."

Yu Xiaogang gave a bitter smile. With his stiff face, the smile looked worse than a cry.

"And that wasn't the end of it," he continued. "Zu Zong and the dean offered to help Xiao San find another beast."

"But I was still affected by Mandala Snake poison, a bit delirious. By the time I noticed, it was too late—Xiao San had already absorbed a soul ring from a 'Sticky Snake'."

"Sticky Snake?" everyone exclaimed.

Flender finally understood. "No wonder Tang San never uses his first skill. I thought you didn't let him use it because it was too strong."

"But a Sticky Snake? That's one of the most useless, disgusting soul beasts! Still, Tang San shouldn't blame Zu Zong—he helped him!"

Yu Xiaogang sighed. "Maybe that's why Zu Zong never wanted to come to Shrek. He has unresolved tension with Xiao San."

Zu Zong (rolling eyes): Wrong. I just think Shrek is a dump.

Everyone sighed.

So Tang San was the one being unreasonable. Honestly, if anyone deserved the blame, it was the so-called theory master.

Of course, no one dared say that aloud. If Flender heard it, there would be consequences.

Only Meng Yiran's eyes flashed coldly for a second.

She thought to herself, "I need to keep Xiao San away from that master."

Soto City, near the Rose Hotel, in a breakfast stall—

Zu Zong, Xiao Wu, and Ye Lingling were enjoying their morning meal.

Slurp slurp slurp—Xiao Wu quickly finished a large bowl of carrot porridge.

Zu Zong glanced over: four carrot buns, a bowl of porridge, and a fresh carrot.

This rabbit girl really could eat. More than him, even.

And that flat stomach—what the hell? Some kind of alternate-dimension stomach?

She looked like she hadn't even started eating.

Sure enough, after finishing, Xiao Wu called out, "Boss! Another bowl of carrot porridge! More carrot, less rice!"

"Got it!" the boss replied.

Zu Zong rolled his eyes. "Young lady, be mindful of your image. Eat more like a proper girl. Look at how refined Lingling is."

"I don't care! I'm hungry, so I eat. Besides, I've already stuck to you—getting married doesn't matter anymore."

Xiao Wu had no shame.

Ever since she took that strange "candy" from Zu Zong, her soul beast aura had vanished and her cultivation sped up rapidly.

The only downside was her doubled appetite.

But she found that no matter how much she ate, she never gained weight. Everything turned into soul power.

The more she ate, the faster she cultivated. So of course she ate without restraint.

Ye Lingling smiled faintly as she watched Zu Zong and Xiao Wu bicker.

She thought to herself, "Those two really are a pair of clowns when they're together."

"Still eating?" a crisp female voice called out—familiar.

Zu Zong looked up.

It was his little kitty. But why was Tang San with her?

He patted the seat beside him and smiled. "Zhuqing, eaten yet? Come sit."

Zhu Zhuqing didn't refuse. She sat next to Zu Zong and accepted the teacup he passed her.

"I've already eaten," she said, taking a sip.

Zu Zong pointed to the door. "And that guy out there who looks like a background NPC—what's his deal? Why's he here?"

Zhu Zhuqing rolled her eyes at Zu Zong. She had always known this guy was cunning and unserious, but she didn't expect him to be this shameless.

Who just casually calls someone a "background NPC" in front of others?

Her face flushed. She leaned closer to Zu Zong and whispered a few words softly.

Pfft—Zu Zong spat out the tea he had just sipped, barely turning his head in time to avoid spraying it on Ye Lingling.

He truly hadn't expected this.

The fire poison he planted in Dai Mubai yesterday had already taken effect. That guy couldn't hold back and went off to the brothel that very night.

His life might still be intact, but that part of his body... was probably nothing but dead flesh now.

Xiao Wu leaned in curiously. "Xiao Zong, Xiao Zong, what did Zhuqing say to you? It sounds juicy—tell me too!"

Zu Zong's eyes flashed with mischief.

Dai Mubai's part being ruined was one thing—but this could be turned into leverage.

For example, making him sign a marriage annulment agreement with his little kitty.

With that in mind, Zu Zong pulled Xiao Wu's head close and whispered the Dai Mubai story into her ear.

Her face turned beet red. "Tch! That 'Evil-Eyed Pervert Tiger' got what he deserved!"

Zu Zong then shared his idea with Zhu Zhuqing.

She was deeply moved.

That engagement with Dai Mubai had been like a nightmare lingering over her for years. It brought her nothing but torment.

Now that there was a chance to be free—even if only in name—it still meant everything.

Following Zu Zong's cue, Xiao Wu explained the situation to Ye Lingling.

Ye Lingling blushed slightly and said calmly, "You've trained me. I owe you. Whether I agree or not—it's your call."

Zu Zong nodded.

In that case, it looked like he'd have to pay a visit to the so-called Shrek Academy after all.
