Chapter 60: The Miserable Dai Mubai

"Zhuqing, do you know him?" Ning Rongrong pointed toward Zu Zong and asked Zhu Zhuqing.

"Mm." Zhu Zhuqing gave a slight nod, her cheeks once again tinged with a soft blush.

Ning Rongrong looked back and forth between Zu Zong and Zhu Zhuqing, and everything suddenly clicked. So her best friend's little boyfriend was someone she herself also knew—and he was strong enough to flatten Dai Mubai in just a few moves.

No wonder Zhuqing would reject Dai Mubai. Honestly, if she were in Zhuqing's place, she wouldn't look at Dai Mubai either!

In just a few moments, Zu Zong had reached them.

"Zhuqing, you left too quickly just now. I forgot to give you something."

Zhu Zhuqing glanced at the others from Shrek. At this point, there was no point in hiding her relationship with Zu Zong anymore. She simply reached out and took his hand openly, smiling as she said, "Let's go over there."

Dai Mubai's face twisted with fury. Just moments ago, the two had been chatting happily in the Spirit Arena—and now they were holding hands in public? In his mind, Zu Zong was the same kind of person he was; the guy had shown up last time with two girls at his side—how could Zhuqing fall for him after just a few days?

"Zhu Zhuqing, don't forget your identity."

Zhu Zhuqing shot him a cold glance. "My affairs are none of your concern."

"You—!" Ever since Zhu Zhuqing came to Shrek Academy, Dai Mubai had been holding back, tolerating her aloofness. But now, the proud and arrogant Dai Mubai could no longer suppress the burning fury in his heart. "Stop right there!"

Zhu Zhuqing didn't even acknowledge him. Instead, she pulled Zu Zong along and quickened her pace.

"You…" Dai Mubai suddenly raised his right hand, a strong white light pulsing from his palm. He'd never been known for patience—in fact, his temper was worse than most.

Just as he was about to strike Zhu Zhuqing, he realized—no matter how much strength he put in—his fist couldn't move forward at all. It was being restrained.

Zu Zong had grabbed his wrist.

With his left hand still holding Zhu Zhuqing's, Zu Zong's right hand now clamped tightly around Dai Mubai's arm.

Dai Mubai's pupils contracted. In his fury, he hadn't even considered Zu Zong a threat. But now, he felt like his wrist was being crushed by iron pincers—the pain was unbearable.

"Let go," Dai Mubai growled.

Zu Zong ignored him. He tightened his grip slightly, and the sound of bones cracking followed.

"Ahhh!" Dai Mubai howled in pain.

Zu Zong smiled faintly. "You dared raise a hand against my girlfriend? Who gave you the guts?"

"Let him go!" Ma Hongjun shouted, stepping forward protectively. Oscar, though clearly terrified, also forced himself to stand in front of Dai Mubai. This time, he was sure—this man was the same Uchiha Zong who'd wrecked Dai Mubai in the Spirit Arena.

Tang San and Meng Yiran also stepped up, ready to fight. At this moment, Tang San couldn't be more excited. He had been itching for a reason to go after the guy who had humiliated him—now the opportunity had fallen right into his lap.

"Stop it, Zu Zong!" a voice suddenly called out.

It was Ning Rongrong. She had spaced out for just a moment and didn't expect things to escalate so quickly.

Zu Zong raised an eyebrow. He had only met Ning Rongrong once before and remembered teasing her about skipping class.

He asked, "Well then, what advice does Miss Ning have for me?"

Ning Rongrong paused, realizing that Zu Zong thought she was trying to defend Dai Mubai. She quickly clarified, "Dai Mubai was in the wrong for raising a hand against Zhuqing. I'll report this to the dean when we get back. But he's still a Shrek student. You may be strong, but if you attract Dean Flender's attention, you won't have an easy time. So... just let it go, okay?"

She kept her tone as gentle as possible.

Zu Zong nodded inwardly. Seems Ning Rongrong isn't unreasonable. He then looked toward Zhu Zhuqing and asked, "What do you think?"

Zhu Zhuqing didn't care for Dai Mubai at all, but knowing the dean might make things difficult for Zu Zong later, she said, "Rongrong's right. Dean Flender is protective and a rank 78 Soul Sage. I don't want you getting into trouble because of this. Just let it go."

Zu Zong nodded. As expected, the little wildcat cared most about him. "Next time, keep your eyes open. I can't stop you from liking Zhuqing—she's exceptional, after all—but if you lash out just because you can't win a girl's heart, then you're not a man. Now get lost."

With that, he released Dai Mubai's wrist, then raised his size-40 foot and sent him flying with a kick. Fortunately, Ma Hongjun and Oscar caught him, or Dai Mubai would've landed face-first like a dog eating dirt.

Zu Zong then looked toward Tang San and Meng Yiran, a little surprised—he hadn't expected Tang San to lose Xiao Wu and still end up with a new girlfriend. Feigning friendliness, he asked, "Oh, it's Xiao San! This must be your little wife, then?"

"L-Little wife…" Meng Yiran's face flushed crimson. It was true she and Tang San were dating, but to have it announced publicly by a stranger still made her shy.

Tang San glared at Zu Zong. Clearly, this fight wasn't going to happen today. He replied coldly, "It has nothing to do with you."

Zu Zong shook his head in mock solemnity. "Ah, so you're still blaming me for that little first soul ring incident."

Look at that expression, that tone—anyone who didn't know better would think poor Zu Zong had suffered some deep injustice at Tang San's hands.

Saying nothing more, Zu Zong turned and walked away, hand in hand with Zhu Zhuqing.

Leaving behind a group of utterly bewildered Shrek students.

Meng Yiran turned and asked, "Xiao San, you two know each other?"

Hearing her voice, Tang San's expression softened visibly, even taking on a rare tenderness. He replied gently, "I'll explain everything when we get back."

Meng Yiran nodded. "Mm."

As they watched Zu Zong and Zhu Zhuqing walk away together, Dai Mubai gave a bitter, self-deprecating laugh. In that moment, he truly felt like a clown.

Once upon a time, he had stolen more than one man's fiancée with ease.

And now, not only had he been humiliated in front of the entire arena, but he could only stand there and watch his own "fiancée" be taken away by another man.

Was this… karma?

Suddenly, Dai Mubai's eyes narrowed. A thought struck him like lightning—Uchiha Zong… Zu Zong… could they be the same person?

"Boss Dai, I'm heading to the dean's shop tonight. You coming?" Ma Hongjun said suddenly, a gleam of excitement in his small eyes.

Seeing Dai Mubai's vacant gaze and his alternating expressions of grief and fury, Ma Hongjun realized the guy had been through a rough day—humiliated and beaten. As his best bro, he figured it was time to take him out for some "relief" and soothe his wounded pride.

Having been a frequent flier himself, Dai Mubai immediately understood the invitation. He was about to refuse—but then Zhu Zhuqing's face flashed in his mind.

Fueled by petty vengeance, he decided he wasn't going to be picky tonight. He'd spend some extra coin and find someone worth the money. Might as well savor the brothel scene in style.

"Alright. I'll go with you."
