Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!
A flurry of slaps echoed through the air.
The students who had gathered to watch suddenly felt as though their own cheeks had been struck.
A hot, stinging pain spread across their faces.
『Students』: "Ah!"
Many clutched their cheeks, groaning in shock.
Then, almost instinctively, they glanced around
Only to find that nearly everyone else was doing the same.
It looked like few had been spared.
They stared at one another, dazed.
They had only come to watch the commotion
So why had they all been slapped?
But these students weren't fools. They had some idea of what had just happened.
Thinking back to the scene before them, they quickly pieced it together.
The one who slapped them could only be the man standing there—Superman.
Of course, being struck out of nowhere wasn't something anyone could just brush off.
Normally, if someone dared slap them, they would've fought back immediately.
Unless the one doing the slapping… was a school tyrant.
Someone like Eugene.
Eugene's reputation at school was infamous.
Not in a good way—his classmates feared him.
If he slapped someone, most wouldn't dare to resist.
Not because they didn't care
But because they didn't dare.
He was tall, strong, and a player on the school team.
No ordinary student could stand up to him.
And if they tried, they risked getting ganged up on by his buddies.
So they swallowed their pride.
And now
Carl was different, but the result was the same.
He wasn't just a school tyrant. He was Superman.
Of course they couldn't fight back.
Even if the pain was sharp and humiliating, none of them dared raise a voice.
If they feared Eugene, how could they not fear Superman?
Still, not everyone had been slapped.
After all, not every student had been jeering or egging things on.
Carl had only targeted those who stirred the crowd and shouted the loudest.
The ones who had just passed by, or ignored the ruckus altogether—he spared them.
With super-hearing, super-sight, and a super brain, Carl had no trouble picking out the culprits.
After finishing, he was ready to leave.
But then
『Unknown Student』: "Superman, what right do you have to hit us?!"
Another voice immediately followed
『Unknown Student』: "Yeah! Why? Just because you're Superman?!"
『Unknown Student』: "That's not fair!"
The crowd fell silent again.
Though most didn't speak, their expressions shifted.
They were thinking the same thing.
What right did he have to hit them?
Superman was supposed to fight criminals, not slap ordinary students.
They weren't villains.
Many of the boys clenched their fists, hearts burning with indignation.
Superman was their idol, yes.
But now that idol had struck them.
That wasn't easy to forgive.
And yet, after that slap, none dared raise their voices.
Carl turned his gaze, instantly locking onto the speakers.
Two boys—one black, one white.
Both classmates.
And both familiar.
Carl recognized them at once.
They were Eugene's lackeys.
The same ones who had held Gordon down when Peter was bullied.
In another life, Carl had seen them in Spider-Man.
Always the ones jeering by Eugene's side.
He noticed the blonde boy clutching not one but two schoolbags.
The extra one almost certainly belonged to Eugene.
『Carl』: "Heh."
A soft chuckle escaped his lips.
In the next moment, he appeared before them in a blur.
Without a word, his foot lashed out
Crack! Crack!
Both boys collapsed instantly, clutching their legs and howling in agony.
Their bones shattered like twigs.
The others had only been slapped for cheering.
But these two?
They were accomplices.
Eugene's shadows.
They had bullied others for far too long.
Carl would not let them go.
『Carl』: "I almost forgot about you two."
『Carl』: "But since you came forward, don't blame me."
『Carl』: "If I ever hear you're bullying again, I'll come back. And it won't end with just broken legs."
The two boys writhed on the ground, their screams sharp in the air.
Carl ignored them and turned to the rest of the crowd.
『Carl』: "My name is Carl."
『Carl』: "Most of you already know me. If you don't, it doesn't matter."
A faint smile tugged at his lips.
『Carl』: "If you're unhappy about today, come find me."
『Carl』: "I own a bar in Queens. It's called the Smith Bar."
『Carl』: "You're welcome to show up anytime, ask me face-to-face."
His smile faded into steel.
『Carl』: "But if you really do come—don't expect things to end so easily."
And with that, Carl's figure vanished into thin air.
Leaving behind a stunned silence.
The students clutched their stinging cheeks, glancing at one another in disbelief.
They had never expected Superman to act like this.
But they weren't foolish.
They weren't about to go looking for trouble at Smith Bar.
They had only been slapped—nothing life-threatening.
To push it further would only bring disaster… on themselves.
Still, his parting words stung like salt on their wounds.
Not only had they been slapped, they had been threatened.
Yet none of them reflected on how their jeering had fanned Eugene's cruelty earlier.
…
Only a few students felt differently.
After all, Carl hadn't laid a hand on them.
One of them was Gordon—the boy Eugene had humiliated earlier.
Of all the students present, no one admired Carl more.
Eugene had forced his head into greasy takeout in front of everyone.
The shame, the anger, the helplessness—Gordon had been drowning in them all.
And now?
Eugene lay broken.
His lackeys, too.
Justice had come, swift and brutal.
For Gordon, it was nothing less than catharsis.
His heart felt lighter than it had in years.
