Watching Clark and Tony leave, Thor could only stretch out his hands and sigh.
After leaving Stark Tower, Clark rushed toward the massive Leviathan beasts. Because the portal had been opened for some time, even though Clark had immediately shut it down after arriving, a large number of Chitauri and several Leviathan monsters had already come through to Earth.
These monsters varied in size, but even the smallest were several hundred meters long. The largest, Clark estimated, was over 500 meters in length.
Naturally, he went for the biggest first.
Clark flew directly over the enormous Leviathan as it continued launching missiles from its armored belly, flanked by Chitauri soldiers in full combat gear.
Facing this 500-meter beast, Clark punched it in the head—hard. To avoid getting splattered by brain matter, he used a magical force field to channel the impact.
The punch dented the creature's head, and under the force, it was sent flying and crashed onto the road below.
However, due to its sheer size and reinforced Chitauri armor, the monster didn't die. Instead, it roared in pain, then got up and charged back toward Clark.
Clark was surprised. That punch had used close to 20 tons of force, and he hadn't held back. Even with his strength partially spread across the force field, he didn't expect the Leviathan to survive.
Perhaps it was just too massive—its head alone was 30 meters tall—and its armor absorbed some of the blow.
Shaking off the thought, Clark summoned more of his inner energy and delivered another powerful punch to the beast's skull.
This time, something changed.
The difference wasn't just strength. As Clark channeled energy through his body, the power of the two Infinity Stones within him also surged into the attack.
As his fist struck the monster, golden lines of power spread across the Leviathan's body. A deep roar erupted—and then, the beast shattered into pieces.
Staring at his glowing gold-and-blue fist, Clark was stunned. He hadn't expected the Infinity Stones to amplify his power this much.
He didn't know whether it was due to the low magical resistance of the Leviathans, or a unique reaction from the two Stones combining. After all, he had used the Tesseract's energy during his assault on Ronan's fleet, but nothing like this had happened before.
Whatever the cause, the result mattered more.
He had discovered that even 10% power punches—when enhanced by the Stones—were enough to kill these beasts.
So Clark went to work, hammering them one after another.
Every Leviathan that crossed into Earth's skies was shattered under his fists.
With the beasts down, Tony and Steve finally breathed a sigh of relief. Even Diana—perhaps the second strongest among them after Clark—had struggled with the Leviathans.
Her sword, no matter how sharp, was little more than a toothpick compared to those monster's thick hides. And her other attacks barely left a dent.
These weren't the small Leviathans sent to Earth in earlier invasions. This time, the Chitauri had dispatched super-massive models.
After all, the Chitauri army—one of Thanos's two elite legions—was said to be the strongest military force in the universe. Perhaps that was exaggerated, but clearly they were formidable.
While Clark was dealing with the Leviathans, back on the Helicarrier, now with communications restored, Nick Fury received a video call from the World Security Council.
He entered the command room, where five screens flickered to life. A man seated at the center spoke up:
"Director Fury, the Council has decided. We're launching a nuclear strike on Manhattan. Your carrier is closest—dispatch the warhead immediately."
Fury's face darkened.
"Sir, this is Manhattan! My data shows over 150 million people in that area. You're just going to kill them all? My team's still in there!"
He wondered if these politicians had lost their minds.
Not long ago, they were begging for peace with the alien fleets. And now they wanted to nuke one of Earth's most populated cities?
"Director Fury, if we don't stop the aliens there, they'll spread. The entire world could fall. Can you live with that? And before the strike, we still need your team to hold them off as long as possible."
Fury laughed bitterly.
"So that's it? You're planning to take Clark out with the bomb too?"
He knew what this was really about.
As Clark's strength grew—especially after single-handedly destroying an alien fleet—the Council had started to fear him. Fury saw it in every decision they made.
Whether it was their reluctance to let Clark fight in space, or now their eagerness to nuke Manhattan—this wasn't just about the Chitauri.
This was a test.
They wanted to see if a nuke could hurt Clark. If yes—problem solved. If not, well, they'd say it was "necessary precaution."
Fury knew these political games all too well.
He wasn't about to let them use the Avengers—his hard-won team—as expendable assets.
Not today.
