Chapter 317 - DSMW [317]

Speed Spell Cards—Spell Cards exclusive to Turbo Duels.

As for why they're exclusive, Miles recalled from his memories of Turbo Duels that because of the Field Spell [Speed World], regular Spell Cards could generally not be used.

Miles murmured to himself, deep in thought: "So in this world too, Turbo Duels also have exclusive Speed Spells…"

With Turbo Duels and Speed Spells both existing, the only question was what kind of Speed World this continent used.

The Field Spell [Speed World] was unique to Turbo Duels. Different versions of Speed World had different rules and effects, inevitably influencing the outcome of duels.

"Lost, about Turbo Duels…"

"Pfft!" Lost laughed openly, cutting off Miles before he could ask more about the rules of Turbo Duels.

"Talking about Turbo Duels? I bet you guys don't even have Duel Runners. Get a D-Wheel first, then think about Turbo Duels, alright?"

"I won't deny it—we don't have D-Wheels yet." Miles twitched at the corner of his eye, annoyed as he retorted, "But even without D-Wheels, can't I at least learn the rules? Or are you saying, without a D-Wheel, we're not allowed to duel at Synchron Academy?"

After all, they were here as exchange students. Synchro might be Synchron Academy's specialty, but did not having D-Wheels mean Fusion Academy students had no right to duel here?

Lost suddenly grew serious: "Aisha Carlos, do you know what happens to someone without a D-Wheel at Synchron Academy?"

"What happens?"

"They get… bullied! Like this."

Pulling at her delinquent coat with exaggerated gestures, Lost began acting out a flamboyant performance to demonstrate what school bullying looked like in this free-spirited nation.

"Yo, we're about to hold a super cool Turbo Duel but, yo there's one little guy who can't join. Guess who it is? Yo, it's you, unlucky brat because you don't have a Duel Runner!"

Lishia twitched at the corner of her mouth, whispering: "Senpai, foreigners really are weird, huh."

Irena's expression was just as exasperated: "Told you, the weird one isn't 'foreigners'…"

As everyone struggled with how to deal with this bizarre delinquent girl, an angry shout, accompanied by the roar of a magitek engine, grew louder as it approached.

"Lost Vira—!"

"Huh! That voice…"

For once, the fearless delinquent Lost showed a hint of panic upon hearing the sound.

"Krista? Wait… Ahhh!"

With impeccable flair, a D-Wheel slammed into her, sending her flying. The coat emblazoned with "Red Dragon Archfiend" traced a graceful arc in the air, depositing Lost straight into the roadside bushes.

The Fusion Academy group's faces all froze into deadpan expressions.

( ̄ー ̄)×4

After everything they'd seen in Axet so far, their nerves were already numb.

No matter how weird things got next—even a helmeted girl sending Lost flying ten meters on a motorcycle—they could only smile vaguely and act like nothing had happened.

The girl removed her helmet atop her D-Wheel, shaking loose her shoulder-length black hair, her diamond-like violet-blue eyes glaring furiously at Lost.

"Is this how you treat guests, Lost?!"

From within the bushes, with her upper body buried in greenery, Lost's muffled voice emerged to prove she was still alive.

"Is this how you drive a bike into someone, Krista? If it weren't me, the consequences would've been serious."

"Your only redeeming trait is that tough body of yours. You'll live. What about the promise you made me before? Why'd you leave Aoyao alone to greet them?"

"She said she wanted to practice her social skills herself…"

The Fusion Academy students quickly realized this Krista, though her entrance was bizarre, was at least a normal person they could communicate with.

As team leader, Irena asked politely: "Excuse me, when will we depart for Synchron Academy?"

Hearing her voice, Krista reined in her temper. This wasn't the time to scold an idiot.

"My apologies. On behalf of Synchron Academy, I sincerely regret the poor welcome you received."

With a smile like spring sunlight, Krista spoke warmly to Irena—so different from the one berating Lost just seconds before that she seemed like a different person entirely.

Her tone exuded calm, friendliness, and reliability.

Normal!

It was such a normal interaction that the Fusion Academy group was moved by how refreshingly ordinary it felt.

So, not everyone at Synchron Academy was a weirdo.

"You can depart now. The Academy has prepared temporary dorms, fully furnished and ready. Also, the exchange students from XYZ Academy have already arrived ahead of you."

Finally boarding the magitek car arranged for them, they left the airport and headed toward Synchron Academy. At magitek car speeds, it took only twenty minutes.

It was Aisha's first time riding in a magitek car, and like with the magitek airship, her excitement had her practically glued to the window.

However, this time, her excitement didn't last long.

The reason being—

"Ugh! Ooof, I think I'm dying…"

She was horribly carsick.

Barely five minutes into the ride, Aisha felt miserable. By the time they reached Synchron Academy, she couldn't walk on her own. Ren carried her the rest of the way to the dorm.

"Good thing you're here, Ren-chan."

"No worries, Little Ai, you're so light you're like a little critter. Heave-ho, off we go!"

Though she said it was easy, the first thing Ren did upon reaching the dorm was drop the half-dead Aisha onto the bed.

"I'm wiped too. Guess us country bumpkins can't handle high-tech transport."

She collapsed onto her own bed right after. Though not as bad as Aisha, Lishia had joined the "carsick duo," completely drained.

Irena comforted them: "The exchange program doesn't officially start until tomorrow. There's no schedule for today. You're free to rest."

"Great. Then let me sleep until evening."

Relieved, Aisha sighed.

Miles said then: "We can't stop here, Aisha. Didn't we say we'd check out the shop Alester mentioned?"

Before leaving, Alester had told them about a shady magic workshop in the nearby city, one that supposedly sold high-quality D-Wheels, essential for Turbo Duels at Synchron Academy.

Miles, who had always dreamed of dueling at high speed, wasn't about to let a little motion sickness stop him.

"I really can't move, Mr. Miles. If you want to go so badly, take my body and do as you like…"

The Millennium Puzzle glimmered faintly, and with her body wrecked from carsickness, Aisha surrendered, switching places with Miles.

But once inside Aisha's body, Miles too felt dizzy and nauseous.

Turns out even swapping souls couldn't cure her motion sickness. This pineapple body was useless.

Ren, sharp-eyed as always, noticed the swap and stretched with a sly smile, gazing out the window.

"Lovely weather. Since we're in Axet, it'd be a waste not to explore the nearby city. I wonder if anyone will join me?"

Classic layered ploy of a girl.

The carsick duo clearly weren't leaving. Irena, as team leader, had paperwork to handle for the exchange. That left only Ren—and the Millennium Puzzle-wielding Miles.

Then, she said in a monotone voice:

"Eh? No one wants to come? I'm just a girl in a strange place. Isn't it dangerous? If only someone reliable came with me…"

What danger could she possibly run into? If anything, it'd be dangerous for anyone dumb enough to mess with her.

Ren smiled: "You agree, Little Ai? You know who's dying to go out right now, don't you?"

And truthfully, Miles felt the same way.

"If it's just to look at D-Wheels, it doesn't matter who goes with me."

"Fine, fine. Just to look at D-Wheels!"

The trap was sprung. Ren had successfully maneuvered herself into an outing with Miles, inheriting the Millennium Puzzle from the bedridden Aisha.

Sure, it's to see the workshop's D-Wheels… but what happens along the way isn't up to Little Ai.

"Huh, going out?"

Unexpectedly, Lishia, though carsick, was tougher than Aisha.

"If we go out, there'll be Axet street food, right?"

"Lishia!"

Not wanting her first outing with Miles ruined by this clueless girl, Ren gripped her shoulders, crimson eyes blazing.

"Listen, Lishia! You're really sick, so sick! Rest well, and I'll bring you back tons of food!"

"Y-yes, Ren-senpai…"

Utterly cowed, Lishia's teeth chattered.

"Ah, I feel faint again…"
