Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: Psycho? Hal Jordan!

Dante and Bruce Wayne slept in the same large bed for a night.

There was no anxiety or tossing and turning.

Both experienced warriors knew the importance of resting and recuperating.

The next day, after waking up, the two walked out of their room and saw Selina Kyle clumsily making breakfast.

Dante watched with interest for a while, then turned to Bruce Wayne and whispered:

"Hey, if she tries a bit harder, do you think she could set the stove on fire?"

"Stop with the sarcastic remarks."

Bruce Wayne said, rolling up his sleeves, and stepped forward to take the spatula from behind Selina Kyle.

"Let me do it."

"Oh, thank you so much." Selina Kyle looked at Bruce Wayne as if he were a Savior. "I've never been good at anything related to food preparation since I was little."

Dante unceremoniously sat down at the dining table and started talking to Selina Kyle.

"Miss Selina, are your parents still alive? It feels a bit awkward to temporarily stay in their bedroom."

"My parents passed away many years ago."

"I am very sorry."

"It's alright, it was a long time ago." Selina Kyle also sat down. "Although I miss them very much and have always kept this room clean, I think they would also be very happy to help two people who temporarily need a place to stay."

Dante nodded.

All aspects of his life experience were completed.

Of course, it's hard to say whether the "Robin Hood" in the fairytale actually had parents or not.

But whether it's a reality bender or certain reality-altering items taking effect here, it is temporary.

Modifications to reality are constantly updated.

For example…

After chatting with "Robin Hood" Selina Kyle for a few sentences, he looked back, and a few photos appeared next to the previously empty fireplace.

There were photos of her parents, and also a family photo of the three of them.

That was quick!

From the photos, Selina Kyle's "father" was the most common Robin Hood image, while her mother looked like…

The Evil Queen from Snow White?

So the reality distortion in this place has been going on for a long time, and Selina Kyle, who was just assimilated, was not set as a fairytale character, but as the next generation of these fairytale characters.

Dante was even more certain of his guess.

Are they really just patching things up at any time?

"Alright, stop asking so many questions."

Bruce Wayne placed the crispy bacon and toast on the table, interrupting Dante's questions.

"Oh, oh, your cooking skills are truly excellent." Selina Kyle exclaimed upon seeing the simple food in front of her. "Let's eat, I still have to go to the town's police station for work later. You two can wander around the town, but…"

"But what?"

"Ah, it's nothing, it's just that there's a mentally ill person in town who believes the entire World is fake and often grabs people in town to complain. If you meet him, please don't hurt him, he's also a pitiful person."

Selina Kyle sighed with a look of pity, then began to eat breakfast.

Upon hearing this, Dante gave Bruce Wayne a look.

Believes the entire World is fake?

A madman?

Not necessarily.

Perhaps it's a BUG that appeared due to the distorted reality?

Breakfast was quickly finished. Selina Kyle put on her police uniform jacket and left the house with Dante.

However, the two did not go with Selina Kyle; the road to the police station was in the opposite direction.

"I wish you a pleasant time in Storybrooke Town."

These were Selina Kyle's last words before she left.

Dante and Bruce Wayne smiled and waved goodbye, then turned around, their expressions simultaneously becoming cold and calm.

"It seems that only those who were initially pulled into this reality-distorted space are fairytale characters, like that dwarf yesterday, who was clearly one of the Seven Dwarfs. And your wife was assimilated into the second generation of fairytale characters, and even inherited the identity of her father, Robin Hood…" Dante analyzed, "If we two were also assimilated, we would probably have similar identities."

"Moreover, the person who distorted this reality… seems to be trying every possible way to maintain the stability of this current 'reality' and make it more reasonable."

Bruce Wayne nodded, then he and Dante began to wander around this "Storybrooke Town."

Although the people of Storybrooke Town cannot leave this town, they are not surprised by outsiders.

It's as if they are a group of people normally connected to the outside World.

And along the way, familiar fairytale characters kept appearing.

Snow White as a teacher, Princess Aisha as a cold drink shop owner, Princess Pea at the fruit and vegetable store, the Seven Dwarfs as security guards…

And at this moment, the one staring wide-eyed at Dante is…

Little Red Riding Hood.

But unlike the imagined little girl, the Little Red Riding Hood in front of him was clearly an adult female.

"I haven't seen you two before."

"My brother and I broke down while on a road trip, just as we were passing through Storybrooke Town, so we could only come to town to get the car repaired."

"I see…" Little Red Riding Hood nodded thoughtfully, "You two aren't bad people, are you?"

This way of speaking doesn't sound much like an adult, does it?

However…

Dante could feel that beneath the red hood, there was a very strong power.

Of course, this "strong" is relative to ordinary people.

For example, Bruce Wayne next to him, just looking at the panel data, would probably be pressed to the ground and easily rubbed by this Little Red Riding Hood.

"We heard there's a mentally ill person in town who believes this World is fake." Dante nodded to Little Red Riding Hood, "Wouldn't you say it's a coincidence? My brother and I are both psychiatrists, so we can just help you see if he can be treated."

Having a local lead the way is much better than two outsiders stumbling around blindly, right?

Little Red Riding Hood looked like an adult, but clearly, inside she was still a little girl, which made her easier to fool…

Sure enough, Little Red Riding Hood nodded and said somewhat happily:

"Really? Are you two really psychiatrists? That's great, that big brother is so pitiful. He's so handsome, but unfortunately, his mind isn't quite right…"

Then Little Red Riding Hood walked in front to lead the way, taking Dante and Bruce Wayne behind a laundry shop, arriving at the edge of the forest.

And a makeshift camp came into their view.

Dante took a glance and saw that although the camp was dilapidated, the builder had clearly learned wilderness survival skills.

"It looks like a camp built by someone from the U.S. Military. Those knots clearly show standard procedures taught by the Military."

And at this moment, a handsome brown-haired man in ragged clothes crawled out of the shack.

"Whoa! He's out! I'm leaving first."

Little Red Riding Hood had probably been pestered by him a few times and immediately ran away.

Dante and Bruce Wayne walked forward.

The handsome brown-haired man's eyes lit up the moment he saw the two, but very quickly, that light of "hope" dimmed.

"I actually saw Bruce Wayne here… I must be hallucinating."

When Dante heard that, there was no doubt.

This guy hadn't been assimilated either.

"You're not hallucinating, he is Bruce Wayne, and I am FBI agent Dante. Do you… need help?"

"Wh-what? The real Bruce Wayne!? And the Federal Bureau of Investigation!?"

Hearing Dante's words, the man lunged directly at the two of them…

Then he clung to Bruce Wayne and started wailing.

"Oh My Lord! A relative!"

"Finally, a normal person appeared!"

Dante pried the man off Bruce Wayne while saying:

"Hey, hey, hey, let's talk nicely. Why are you hugging and touching him… Holy crap, your snot got on him!"

Dante finally managed to pry the brown-haired man off Bruce Wayne without hurting him.

Bruce Wayne didn't say anything, though.

He just expressionlessly took off his jacket and threw it aside.

Dante clearly saw the proportion of the "disgust" option gradually increasing in the fan-shaped diagram in the other party's eyes.

"Alright! Stop wailing!" He reached out and gave the brown-haired man a big slap. "Who are you? Why are you here and not assimilated?"

After receiving a big slap, the brown-haired man was a bit dazed at first, but he quickly calmed down.

He scratched his long-unwashed brown hair, took a few deep breaths, and then said:

"My name is Hal Jordan. You can just call me Hal."

Bruce Wayne showed no reaction to this name.

But under Dante's equally calm facial expression, there was a shocking surge of surprise.

Who?

Hal Jordan?

How did this guy end up in Storybrooke Town?

Why would an Air Force pilot inexplicably appear here?

As for why he wasn't assimilated, Dante didn't even need to guess.

As "the greatest Green Lantern," his willpower was even higher than Batman's.

Since Dante and Bruce Wayne were not assimilated because their willpower was strong enough, then Hal Jordan naturally wouldn't be assimilated either.

"Alright, Hal Jordan…" Dante nodded. "Then can you explain why you appeared in this town, which has been distorted by reality?"

"Reality distortion?" Hal Jordan repeated the term he didn't quite understand with some confusion, then began to explain, "I am a major pilot in the U.S. Air Force, tasked with a secret order from my superiors to transport classified items to the FBI Headquarters in Washington."

"But after flying near here, the plane crashed directly without any damage or abnormality."

"Although I parachuted in time, I was affected by the explosion of the crashed plane after landing, and then I passed out."

"When I woke up again, I was in this place called 'Storybrooke Town,' and all the people around me had turned into fairytale characters from another World…"

"But I clearly remember that I passed out in a forest with virtually no human traces."

"That is to say, simply during the period of unconsciousness, a small town and its residents appeared out of thin air."

Bruce Wayne listened to Hal Jordan's description and nodded.

"So, you crashed and parachuted first, and then this town appeared, right?"

"Excluding the possibility that you are a reality-bending ability user, the appearance of Storybrooke Town is probably related to the classified items you were responsible for transporting…"

As expected of the "World's Greatest Detective," he went straight to the core of the problem.

Something that could make the U.S. Military temporarily put aside historical conflicts and send to the Federal Bureau of Investigation…

"What exactly is this thing? Why is it being sent to the FBI Headquarters?" Dante asked, pressing on Hal Jordan's shoulder, "Did you really not open it and take a look?"

"I already said it's classified; I'm just the one responsible for the transportation mission!" Hal Jordan sighed helplessly. "Sigh, I've been missing for so long, what will my girlfriend do? She must be worried sick."

"You don't have to worry about that."

Dante squeezed his shoulder slightly, "comforting" him:

"People who enter a reality-distorted area will most likely be temporarily and completely erased from reality. Don't be afraid of making your girlfriend worry; you should be afraid of whether she will change her mind because you, as a person, no longer exist…"

"Holy crap!"

Hela, Goddess of Death, came to the Headquarters alone.

She could now confirm that she was affected by reality distortion, but she had no idea how she was affected?

Was it an item or a person that was taken from her life?

With the blessing of divinity, she could only vaguely remember that it was an important part of her life.

She wandered aimlessly through the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The surrounding Agents had long since grown accustomed to it.

Hey, it's just a God.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation even had two!

It was no longer a rarity.

As for the energy detectors installed inside the Federal Bureau of Investigation, they had already been modified to change their alert method, so they no longer flashed blindingly like a white-lightning-struck computer screen.

Hela finally arrived at the Scientific Research Department.

She heard that the smartest group of people in Midgard worked here.

Although Hela believed she was wise enough, even the wisest Sage King would need the advice of wise counselors.

Because they had just experienced the battle to lure HYDRA, many facilities were still undergoing inspection and reconstruction.

Fury simply gave all the scientific researchers a holiday.

Anyway, research couldn't be done in this environment.

But there are always exceptions, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation had one such scientist who wasn't so demanding about the research environment and wasn't too interested in holidays.

He was the only one in the entire Scientific Research Department.

Hela walked forward, and the other party just happened to turn around.

The ruby pendant on his chest still shone as brightly as new.

"I remember you, you are that… Dr. Jack Bright?"

"Oh, isn't this the Death Goddess?" Jack Bright didn't seem surprised by her arrival. "It seems the Death Goddess has already sensed it. Although essentially an alien, you possess divinity, so you have some resistance to reality distortion."

"You can feel it too?"

"Ever since my soul entered this thing… reality distortion can no longer affect me. I have already become one of the Constant of the Universe."

Dr. Jack Bright touched the SCP-963 on his chest and then teased:

"You have forgotten the person most important to you."

"He is the one who holds the honored position at your right hand. He is the one who will share the Asgardian kingship with you in the future…"

"He is your Queen, your lover, the guide of the stars, Dante."
