Chapter 5 - Chapter five

Jessy ran to the far end of the table, and I chased after him, finally plopping down opposite him, still breathing heavily.

"Hey, the next time you make me chase you like this, it won't end with just a run." I glared at him, chest heaving.

"Lucy, I think you should try exercising more to build muscle for balance. You almost fell at the door just now," he said, giggling.

I rolled my eyes. Then again, what was I expecting from a lunatic like Jessy? I gave him a death stare… until I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Hey, Lu."

I looked up to see Jenny smiling at me, Max and Chanel beside her. I jumped up and hugged her immediately.

"J! I don't know why Jessy is after my life. I swear, I'll kill this twin of yours one day." I finished, spinning around to glare at Jessy — only to see him devouring pizza like he hadn't eaten in days.

"Jessy, seriously, when did you even order that?"

"When you were busy whining to Jenny," he replied without looking up. Max grabbed a slice, and Chanel did the same, while I just stared, confused.

"Lu…" Jenny gestured for me to sit beside her and handed me a slice of pizza.

I sat down, smiling at her. "It's only Jenny who takes care of me," I said, glaring at Jessy. He just looked at me and continued eating. Honestly, I could never figure out what that boy was thinking — he's a complete psychopath.

"Hi, Jessy. We haven't been properly introduced. I'm Chanel." She extended her hand with a radiant smile.

"Jessy," he said simply, shaking her hand. After a moment, Max took her hand.

"Max," he smiled.

"Yeah, Max," she returned, smiling.

"You have a very pleasant smile," Max added.

"Thanks," Chanel replied politely.

I made eye contact with Jenny and snarked, "I turned to Max — how do you like our school? You enjoying it?"

"Surprisingly fun, especially with you and Jessy. I mean, you guys would make a great couple." He smiled.

"What?!" I exclaimed, shocked. Jenny chuckled while Jessy sat there, completely absorbed in his pizza.

"Never just look at him eating like he had anything better to do before coming to school," I muttered, shaking my head.

"I'd be so pleased to have you as a sister-in-law," Jenny said, draping her arm around my shoulder.

"Cut it," I glared at her.

"Lu, what's up with the application form?" Jenny asked.

"I've decided to drop it. I mean, I can't be having fun and running school too," I said, smiling.

"Awww, that's a nice choice," Jenny said, hugging me. Jessy chuckled from across the table.

"Hey, what's your problem?" I shot back.

"I mean… you wouldn't even win if you ran for it. The best option is to chicken out before it's too late," he smirked.

"Says the dumbass loser," I fired back.

"You guys are so funny," Max said, grinning. Chanel seemed pretty entertained too, smiling at the little show.

"Max, you find this funny?" I glared.

"No!! I mean… Jessy, remember I have to register for the basketball team before the break ends. Let's go." Max left with Jessy without looking back. Jenny burst into laughter.

"Babe, I mean, you scared him," she said, still laughing.

"I didn't mean to," I admitted, joining in.

"We should head out too," I said to Chanel.

"Yeah, let's go."

We left the cafeteria. Chanel and Jenny headed to class while I went to tell the principal I was dropping out of the student union elections.

"Hello, Miss Lucy. Are you here to submit?"

"No, sir. I'm here to decline my interest in the student union election," I said politely.

"Hmmm… Miss Lucy, you're a brilliant girl. I trust you have another plan?"

"Not really, sir. But I might try again next time," I said, smiling.

"Of course you can. It's always open for you."

"Thank you, Mr. Principal."

"You're welcome, Miss Lucy. On your way out, call Jessy for me."

"Jessy?" I asked, concerned.

"Yes, Miss Lucy, Jessy Anderson," he replied.

I left for the basketball changing room. Upon entering, I was greeted by six-packs and half-naked men everywhere. I wasn't expecting anyone to be changing today, but I couldn't help enjoying the view — until someone yanked a cloth over my head and dragged me out.

"Who the—? Remove this cloth!" I struggled, but a soft, familiar voice stopped me.

"Lucy, calm down. It's Max." He removed his shirt, and the scent made my head spin. My eyes widened as I noticed the tight sleeveless white top showing every muscle and the shorts revealing his toned legs.

"I want to eat you," I said, smiling devilishly.

"What?!" Max exclaimed, clearly confused, his eyes wide.
