Chapter 84 - The alpha lore

The moment morning sunlight hit, I called Linda. I needed to know about alpha pokemon.

Alpha Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus are oversized, powerful, and aggressive variants with glowing red eyes that are tougher than normal Pokémon but offer great rewards, indicated by a red "Alpha" symbol on their health bar and summary screen, and they often know unique moves, making them challenging but valuable additions to one's team, especially for research tasks.

Whereas, in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Alpha Pokémon are massive, hyper-aggressive versions of regular Pokémon, identifiable by their larger size, glowing red eyes, and often appearing over-leveled with powerful, species-unusual moves, making them tough but rewarding challenges found in Lumiose City's wild zones and rooftops. They typically have perfect IVs in key stats and a special red skull icon on their status, offering a significant power boost to your team once caught.

But it didn't necessarily mean that they were better than normal pokemon and the gap of strength was to wide to bridge. In the real world IV's and EV's did not exist as ca;culating a pokemon stat in number is practically impossible.

Level calculation is easier as its just the ammount of total core energy converted to numerical form but for IV much more needed to be calculated and plus it can show error sometimes as one would say that this pokemon has high speed IV since it is running fast but change the terrain and the result could change.

So the concept of IV did not exist simply because they could not be calculated, but yeah speed factor and all did exist. Though luckily it all aligned to a pokemon potential and so the more the potential, the more the IV. Though potential and IV are not the same but Iv's come under a pokemon potential itself.

And so according to this world, every other characteristics about alpha pokemon is same as game just that they have a higher potential than normal. Plus there physical strength and stamina were much higher than normal pokemon. So naturally any move they perform have more power, for example lets say gust. To perform gust attack a flying pokemon need to exert both, its physical strength and its inner core strength to perform the move.

The inner core strength is determined by a pokemon potential. But the same thing can't be said for physical strength. That depends on a pokemon physiology. Well its same as how some humans are naturally stronger than others. Of course one can be stronger with training but why not catch a physically stronger pidgey too and then train it.

Wait. Did I sound like Paul just now.

Well. His idology was not exactly wrong. Just he should not treat them bad and abuse them. Hated him for that really. First trainer in anime who actually is battling competitively only to turn out to be a pokemon abuser. Why? What did the anime directors wanted to portray. Playing competitively means you are abuser!

Anyway, going back to alpha pokemon, like explained before an Alpha Pokémon is not necessarily better than a normal Pokémon in the long run; they merely have a head start in terms of initial potential and moves. In the endgame, any normal Pokémon can be trained and enhanced to match or exceed an Alpha's stats.

So I was explaining everything that happend to Linda and boy was she shocked.

"So you mean to say that you caught an alpha pokemon!" I didn't know that someone pitch could be that high but here we are.

"Um yeah, and I plan to train it to be the strongest pidgeot ever." I said with a grin. The league may have some grievances but sorry. I am not letting you all reap the fruit for my hard earned work.

"I thought so." Linda said with a sigh. She clearly understood what Regina meant but its not like the league can actually take the pokemon, at most they can make a request. Unless the trainer is deemed too weak and the pokemon very dangerous the league has no right to take others pokemon.

Of course the league too is corrupted but deeming there own champion as weak would be the most stupid move. Rather it would be same as undermining there own authority as there authority among the federations was determined by how strong there champion and elite four were.

"Anyway, Professor do you maybe have a guide or any information about previous trainers who have caught alpha pokemon. Would have made things easy for me so..."

"Well the records are guarded heavily by the league and even if you are champion you need to complete at least three minimum missions to be able to access that." Linda said.

"Is there really no other way. No other places with sources for alpha pokemon and how to raise them."(Author note: See what I did there. If you do not get it then hint-Harry Potter world)

"Well give me a few days. There must be some records the previous professors left." Linda said. We talked a bit more before Linda cut the call as she had to head back to her research. Huh. uess I too should head back for my journey anyway.
