I had reached the finals, both my onix and scyther were tiered as I had used them for more of my battles compared to poliwag. I mean what do you expect from me, the challengers were w=either using flying types or dark types. Some did use fire types too so poliwag did work hard too but compared to other pokemon he had less chance to show off his skills.
It is also strange considering the fact that this is an Island and water pokemon were more expected but apparently some kind of ocean day happen in the arena a few days ago and so everyone's water type pokemon are either tiered or injured so yeah...
My final match was right now against a girl with alias: Bianca. Reminds me of percy jackson book series.
"Go houndoom." Bianca said. This pokemon would have fit book bianca too now that I think about it.
[Houndoom-lvl 36-elite]
"Go poliwag"
[Poliwag-lvl 32-psudo elite]
The battlefield crackled with tension as the two trainers stepped forward, the air thrumming with heat and mist. Dust rose around the worn arena floor, and sunlight filtered through the trees in sharp beams. Every spectator felt it — the pressure of two powerful Pokémon ready to clash at full strength.
Houndoom snarled, flames dancing at the corners of his fangs. Across from him, Poliwag stood firm, its spiral glimmering as droplets of water hovered around its body. They were polar opposites in type and in energy — fire against water — yet neither looked ready to back down. Poliwag though unevolved and weaker in potential had learn from champion level pokemon like blastoise, kingdra and golduck. It was not losing.
Bianca: "Houndoom! Start strong! Flamethrower!"
Regina: "Poliwag! Meet it head-on! Bubble Beam!"
Houndoom unleashed a roaring torrent of flames, the heat blasting across the field. Poliwag fired a high-pressure stream of shimmering bubbles that collided with the fire mid-air. The burst sent a steamy explosion ripping outward, pushing both Pokémon back a step. Neither gained ground. Both held steady.
The crowd gasped. Equal power. Equal intensity.
Bianca: "Close the distance! Bite!"
Houndoom dashed forward, fangs bared. Poliwag hopped sideways at the last moment, narrowly dodging the ferocious snap.
Regina: "Counter with Water Pulse! Don't let him get close!"
Poliwag launched a ripple of swirling water that slammed into Houndoom's shoulder. The dark-type staggered — but only for a heartbeat. With a growl, he shook off the hit and pushed forward again.
Both Pokémon were already breathing heavily, but the fire in their eyes only grew sharper.
Bianca: "Houndoom, Shadow Ball! Don't let it recover!"
Regina: "Deflect it! Double Slap!"
Houndoom hurled a swirling orb of dark energy. Poliwag leapt toward it, spinning mid-air, slapping the Shadow Ball aside with quick, precise strikes. The orb burst harmlessly to the side, but the impact sent Poliwag tumbling. It landed hard, skidding across the dirt.
Bianca: "Keep pushing! Flame Charge!"
Houndoom burst forward wrapped in blazing fire.
Regina: "Poliwag, brace yourself! Then water pulse Slow him down!"
Both were equally hurt.
They were battered, exhausted, but their determination was unmatched.
Regina: "Now! Water Gun, maximum pressure!"
The jet of water blasted Houndoom across the arena, but even in his dazed state, he refused to fall. His paws dug into the ground, claws ripping through dirt.
Bianca: "Houndoom! Snap out of it! Dark Pulse! Give it everything!"
A wave of dark energy exploded outward, striking Poliwag squarely. The tiny water Pokémon slid across the floor, body trembling, breath short.
The crowd leaned in.
Poliwag tried to stand… and collapsed again.
But then — its spiral glowed.
Its body trembled.
A surge of energy erupted from within.
The ground shook with a deep rumble as Poliwag's silhouette expanded, bright light exploding outward.
'Just in time.' Regina thought.
Everyone shielded their eyes.
When the glow faded, a new form stood in Poliwag's place — taller, stronger, fists clenched with power.
Poliwhirl.
The air vibrated.
Regina: "…You're not done yet. Poliwhirl! Finish it with Focus Punch! Let's end this!"
Poliwhirl's fist drew back, glowing with raw fighting energy.
Bianca: "Houndoom! Dodge it! Move!"
Houndoom lunged sideways — but he was too worn, too exhausted.
Poliwhirl vanished in a blur. The punch connected with a thunderous crack.
A shockwave tore across the field.
Houndoom flew backward, skidding to a stop.
Silence.
Then—
Houndoom fainted.
Poliwhirl stood victorious, chest heaving, but triumph blazing in its eyes.
Poliwhirl had won.
"You did wonderful poliwhirl. And my are you looking tough or what." I praised him with happiness.
"Poli-whi(Yay I evolved.)" Poliwhirl.
Then only we heard someone clapping. We turned to see Blake coming towards us. We both shook hands.
"Congrats on winning R." Blake said. 10,000 poke dollars and 10 rare dark gem. They were not premium like I prefer but something is better than nothing right.
"Um can we battle now." I asked. He was suprised that I immediately asked for a battle instead of resting a bit.
"How about after lunch we battle." He said with a chuckle. I nodded at that.
