Chapter 66 - — Trials (2)

After his interaction with the woman, whom he forgot to ask the name of. He immediately dove back into his library of memories. The idea of the world sapling had planted a seed of curiosity. As the book of what he was looking for immediately popped up in front of him. Simply dubbed, "The World Tree". Arthur opened it and took a look inside. A lot of pages were blank, obviously there would be gaps, as the books were only the accumulated knowledge of the dragons, if they didn't know something, there would be gaps in the pages.

The only thing the book talked about was Aria. Goddess of light and life, he, who had met her in person, didn't think she matched the description of how she was wrote about. They described her as graceful and kind, blessing the world with miracles. But to him, she was ruthless, her blade held loneliness and a kind of darkness. In fact, Thanatos seemed to hold an aspect of light within him as well.

'I wonder if all the gods are so strange...'

He shook away the thoughts and kept reading. Aria had created the world tree from its sapling, but it was described as a kind of mercy and blessing. And not foretelling the very doom and destruction of the world. But that's where the book ended. The rest of the pages were blank. Ready for someone new to bring them forbidden knowledge.

He dismissed his library and got back up from the straw bed, his head hurt a little more, as he got up. It was now pure day outside. Damon was standing in the center of the fort. Holding something in his hand. A clear stone, with an odd pattern around it. He was staring down at it. And let out a sigh as Arthur approached.

"Are you ready, nephew?"

Arthur looked at the stone. It wasn't like anything he had seen before, and it seemed to contain an immense amount of mana.

"What, is that, exactly?"

"It's a trial stone. Some kind of ancient relic or whatever. I never understood myself, but once you infuse your mana into it. You'll be taken to its trial. Which, aren't exactly easy. Many have died attempting the trial of the royal guard."

'Sounds pleasant enough...what could go wrong inside a magic stone?'

He took the stone and wasted no time infusing it with his mana. And then, he couldn't exactly explain it, he was just somewhere else.

Arthur was standing in the middle of a vast wasteland. Dust clouds covering parts of it. And in front of him, there was a system window. It was gold, not blue. And held only a few words.
