Chapter 48 - chapter 48

Dyna didn't watch the Quidditch match where Snape refereed. It was between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, and it ended in record time—so fast that nobody in Hogwarts remembered a quicker finish. Harry caught the Golden Snitch at astonishing speed. In fact, from Malfoy and Weasley's arguing to the final whistle, the match didn't last even a full minute.

Harry and his teammates celebrated in the locker room. The victory took him above reproach; even the skeptics would be silenced now. But Ron, always the companionable buzzkill, broke in:

"Harry, you know what? Aimery didn't come to watch your match. He probably thinks he's too pro now and doesn't care about House Cup games!"

Harry replied diplomatically, "Dyna's busy with his studies—he's not that kind of person." But only Harry knew what he was really thinking.

As for where Dyna was… he was in the Hebridean Islands, far northwest Scotland. It was the weekend, the perfect time to inspect his new territory—Hebridean Black Dragon habitat, long held by the MacFusty family.

Arrival at Coll Island

"Dak Duntis" arrived on Coll Island, eager to view the castle that now belonged to him. Zylardo MacFusty, last heir of the MacFusty line, had sold everything—castle, land, and dragon-breeding secrets—to Dyna. The castle was old and imposing: multiple fortified towers, with a tall black central building that had once been a stronghold against the medieval Church. Even Confundus and Muggle-Repelling Charms couldn't hold back those forces.

Dyna gave the castle a cursory look over before heading to meet the MacFustys' few remaining captive dragons. Wild Hebridean Black Dragons were everywhere—on forty large islands and hundreds of small islets—while domesticated ones had dwindled as the family declined.

Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes agents were always working here, erasing memories from Muggles who glimpsed dragons beyond enchantment reach.

First Encounter

A contingent from the Ashwinder gang greeted Dyna with bowed heads as he approached a massive chained black dragon. Over thirty feet long, male, and majestic—even its purple eyes gleamed perceptively. Its black scales rippled in a soft rustle as it flexed.

"Boss, be careful! This one's irritable—should be in heat," cautioned an Ashwinder employee.

Before he could finish the warning, Dyna vanished into blue light, entering the dragon's body—his mastery of a powerful Possession Charm.

Transformation

Emerging moments later in full dragon form, Dyna's wings unfurled. The wind pressure from his flight buffeted the Ashwinder men, scattering them back.

He soared. This marked the official addition of Black Dragon to his transformation repertoire—Merlin's Metamorphosis enabling perfect animal replication. Magic power within stays consistent at first, but soon the creature's own magic infuses the body, elevating it fully.

Black dragons are magical powerhouses—soaring a several-ton body is no joke. A fire dragon is formidable; a black dragon, intelligent and powerful, is truly terrifying. Only wizards on Dumbledore's level could handle them—otherwise, they couldn't even scratch their scales.

Struggle for Supremacy

In dragon form, Dyna had the ability to level the Avery manor with a single breath—but that would make him no better than Salley Avery or John Flint.

He glided between islands, magic power flooding into him until he topped out. Then he unleashed a Wanton roar, fury incarnate. Nearby wild dragons stirred, drawn out by the challenge.

Among them was Big Butt, a massive black dragon with scales darker and more imposing. Zylardo had named it that, but Dyna sensed its regal aura—it was the true king, the apex male with mating rights above all others.

Big Butt took offense at Dyna's intrusion. Despite its bulk, it shot forward with stunning speed, led by a single thought: crush this upstart.

Dyna deftly avoided the charge, pivoted in mid-air, and kicked Big Butt's back with a hind claw. The massive dragon faltered, wings frantic in mid-air to regain balance.

Then Dyna dove, back-slammed, twisted, and released a breath strike—pinning Big Butt into the sea in a display of deadly grace.

Ruler Ascendant

Big Butt surfaced, furious purple eyes flaring. Broken scales hissed steam into the salty air—yet the dragon, proud and defiant, tried to rise again. But Dyna, now master of his magic, kept pouring energy into flight and form.

Around them, wild dragons hovered, their interest caught. They sensed the shift in power.

As Dyna thundered again, runes of ancient magic flared midair—a large-scale magic circle derived from a Hogwarts library tome he'd studied. Even a dragon-level magic burst could project such power once the energy threshold was reached.

Big Butt, dazed, struggled upward—but Dyna's red beam descended like thunder, hammering the sea. An explosion threw fish and shrimp sky-high, scattering life across the brine.

The battered dragon floated face-up, unconscious for a moment. When he clamped him in claws and lifted him to a cliff, Dyna roared yet again—this time, as a king triumphant.

The wild dragons circled above, eyes wide and wings vibrating, signaling a new alpha.

Big Butt, battered but unbroken, stirred. His gaze found Dyna's scarred back. With a trembling submission, he lowered his head and lay down.

In dragon society, strength is reverence. Bloodlines or titles mean little—only power matters.

Power and Responsibility

At that moment, Dyna stood as the undisputed Dragon King of the Hebrides. The wild dragons respected his strength; the Ashwinder gang bowed in awe. The title wasn't just symbolic—he embodied the unchallenged top of this ecosystem.

Yet with that status came responsibility. Dominance demanded vigilance: fending off challengers, maintaining the hierarchy, and managing both wild and domestic dragons. Dyna's mind buzzed with possibilities: breeding plans, territorial expansion, relations with magical authorities, and the wizarding world's reaction.

In Merlin's Metamorphosis, becoming a creature meant more than emulation. In time, the magic power within evolves to match the creature's true potential. For Dyna, this meant absolute mastery—not just over the form, but its essence.

And so, atop that rugged cliff in the Hebrides, he roared once more—not solely in triumph, but as a declaration of guardianship: this domain belonged to him.
