Before Grey could complete his sentence, a shrill cry rang out. When the Wolf King heard it, he stopped in his attack. Grey looked up with a blurry vision and saw the image of the Wolf King shivering.
It seemed to be considering whether to continue to attack Grey, but decided not to. And ran away as fast as it could. The remaining wolf packs also retreated with fear on their faces.
They didn't spare Grey a second glance and left as soon as the shril cry rang.
'What is happening?'
Grey wanted to stand up, but felt a pain in his leg that he gritted his teeth and almost cursed out loud.
"Dammit! "
Grey then heard the shrill cry again and his body shivered uncontrollable. He coughed out another mouthful of blood and his face turned pale.
'Hell no! '
Despite his injured leg, he tried to stand up but failed. When he fell down, he took a glance behind him and saw the dark forest that seemed to loom before him.
He then began to crawl away with his hands. The shrill cry rang out again and this time to seemed to be getting closer and closer. Grey spat out another mouthful of blood and his face turned even paler. Right now he looked so pale and miserable that you could mistake him for a corpse.
But even with the pain in his body and his broken leg, he still continued to crawl. Crawl away from that forest and from that shrill cry.
He had crawled all the way to the boulder that had given him shelter from the rain and laid down tiredly by the side.
He wanted loudly and hardly as he gritted his teeth to ensure the stinging pain. He took out several small Pills and swallowed them.
The shrill cry rang out again and this time, Grey's vision darkened for a second after coughing out a mouthful of blood.
The creature that made this cry seemed to be getting closer and closer until it finally came out of the forest.
Grey saw a pair of gloves and a rusty steel helmet floating as they came closer to Grey. The shrill cry seemed to be coming out from the rusty helmet.
'A bizarre existence!'
This was his third time encountering a bizarre existence and this time, it seemed like he would really die.
The purple crystal in his chest was letting out waves of energy as it healed him. But the wounds were too deep to be healed quickly.
As the bizarre existence drifted closer to Grey, the boulder he was leaning on seemed to tremble and a dark gold aura covered it.
Grey who was leaning against the boulder felt the dark gold energy aura but couldn't feel where it came from. When he turned his neck, he saw a figure covered in dark gold energy come out from on top the boulder.
It seemed like he was made of the dark gold auar as his figure was slightly obscured in Grey's eyes. The dark gold figure held a dark gold sword that let out a piercing sword intent.
The sword intent was directed at the bizarre existence that was casually drifting towards Grey. The bizarre existence stopped and the helmet turned towards the dark gold figure before drifting off towards it.
It's speed was much faster than when it was coming towards Grey that he could only see it teleporting.
Grey could not see the face of the figure in Dark gold light but could feel his disdain when the bizarre existence drifted towards him. He raised his dark gold sword towards the sky and slashed down.
That one strike seemed to shake the world! That one strike seemed to cut the world apart! That one strike seemed to tear the sky asunder! That one strike seemed to be able to pierce the heavens themselves with it's domineering nature!
When compared to that one strike, the bizarre existence seemed to be ordinary. A dark gold illusionary sword appeared over the Dark gold figure's head and slashed at the bizarre existence.
That one slash, was enough to make Grey's heart tremble. Despite the dark figure not targeting him, he still felt small and helpless like a bug under a microscope.
The bizarre existence wasn't faring any better as it tried to escape from the illusionary sword, but it seemed no matter where it ran to, it couldn't escape the sword.
Then after a short time had passed, the rusty helmet of the bizarre existence seemed to become even rustier and the gloves floating fell out and began to burn with a strange dark gold flame.
In the next moment though, the helmet shattered and a shrill cry rang out as a fiendish spirit flew out. This was the core of the bizarre existence.
The fiendish spirit tried to escape as it flee away at a fast speed. But no matter how fast it ran, it couldn't escape the illusionary sword. In the next moment, the illusionary sword fell down and slashed the spirit.
The spirit let out a shrill scream as it sword slashed at its very Existence and cut through it. The fiendish spirit then dissipated in the next moment.
The shattered pieces of the rusty helmet then turned to dust and the gloves scattered in the wind. A bizarre existence that scared off the seventh level Qi accumulation Wolf King, had been dealt by this figure in Dark gold light.
The scene of that one slash kept on replaying in Grey's head. That one slash that seemed capable of cutting Existence itself. A bizarre existence stood no chance against it and was ended shortly.
While Grey was still stunned, the dark gold light and aura around the dark gold figure seemed to be dissipating. It was clear that this scene only happened once in a long while if certain requirements were met.
The purple crystal which had silently healing him suddenly began to react and let out waved of energy.
The dark gold figure who seemed to be receding back into the boulder turned towards Grey with a strange expression on his obscured face.
It raised the sword in his hand, ready to slash down again when the purple crystal let out another wave of energy and a quarter of the dark gold aura that was receding back into the boulder floated towards him instead.
The dark gold aura under the guidance of the purple crystal, fused into his shadow. The figure obscured in Dark gold light seemed to be as confused as Grey and tried to slash down, but his aura, having been absorbed by Grey began to dissipate and soon he was forced to go back into the boulder.
The dark gold aura then disappeared and everything returned to normal. But only his shadow was letting out a faint dark gold aura.
"What the hell just happened!?"
The purple crystal went back to being dormant and continued to silently him him. Grey was very confused but still sat down and continued to heal himself.
After the death of the bizarre existence, the corrosive substance in the air seemed to have tripled and Grey swallowed many more small pills.
After the time taken for five candles to burn out had elapsed, Grey opened his eyes.
His wounds had been fully healed by the purple crystal. He stood up and went to take a better look at the boulder.
He had been suppressing his curiosity for far too long. As he went out from under the boulder, he looked up but couldn't see the top of the boulder and shifted back until he could see what was on top.
On top of the two meter tall boulder, stood a one point five tall statue. This statur had the same appearance as the man in Dark gold light and even held his sword the same way it did.
"Now I know where he came from." Grey said quietly as he stared at the statue. Luckily, it seemed to have run out of power and didn't come out again.
"I guess that only happens once in a while..." Grey muttered. The image of the descending illusionary sword was still fresh in his mind.
"I wonder why the purple crystal reacted that way?" Grey had not seen the purple crystal take a silver of the dark aura and put it in his shadow, so he didn't know what happened to it.
Because of the dense corrosive substance, Grey had to swallow medicinal pills every few minutes. "Over three hours had passed and signs of night are approaching. It's best if I leave before something else that I can't face arrives." Grey said and started to speed away.
He could say his gains this time had been good. He had gotten a good grasp of his strength and just needed a bit more practice to be well proficient. Fighting the wolves and Wolf King had further tempered his body and sharpened his mind.
And without him knowing, he had already begun to formulate a battle style quite like the Captain. But his was more fluid and unpredictable.
And then there was the experience with the bizarre existence and the figure in Dark gold light. Both had opened his eyes to the true terrors that reside in the corroded zones and taught him never to overestimate himself, like he had with the Wolf King. Any mistake would have easily cost his life but with factors like the purple crystal, he could afford to make some mistakes.
Right now, he was really thankful for the fact that he found the purple crystal right after he transmigrated. If not, he feared by now he would be dead.
