Chapter Fifty: The Argument
So, when the door opened Isabelle, sat upright in the hospital bed and stirred her tea with a plastic spoon.
Her heart skipped for a second when she saw Reign walk in.
He stepped inside like a stranger that had no warmth and the softness from the previous time was gone from his face.
She remembered the last time he came into the room, when he thought she was asleep. Isabelle remembered when his voice started trembling as he spoke to her.
All that confession, weird regret ans the kiss he placed on her hand.
But now? He barely even looked at her.
"You're awake," Reign said flatly.
Isabelle blinked. "That's your greeting?"
"You were asleep yesterday," he replied, walking toward the small chair in the corner. He didn't sit. He just decided to stand next to it like he wasn't sure he should even be here.
"I was also hit by a car," Isabelle raised an eyebrow. "But let's not make it about me."
