Chapter 65 - Chapter 65: Harley Quinn Is Not Worthy

Would he think she and Fu Jue were off having fun again?

Whatever. Let him think what he wants.

In his eyes, she was just a troublemaker—nothing more.

What she really needed to worry about was the fact that she was being forced to act as a stand-in again tonight. Her month-long "relationship" with Fu Jue hadn't officially ended yet, and once again, she was being dragged into someone else's mess.

It was getting harder and harder to keep playing this role. What if… what if he tried to push her into "fulfilling her wifely duties" again?

"Second Brother, the presidential suite is ready—Room 6901. Don't stay up too late," Zane Song said.

Room 6901.

Just hearing that room number sent a tremor through Celia's spine.

A low, magnetic voice echoed by her ear, "Alright."

And with that, he walked off.

"Ci Ci, let's go too. I'll drive you home," Fu Jue said, gently leading her away.

Once they left, Zane muttered to Wen Shaoqian, "Do you think Second Brother really likes that clown girl?"

Zane never liked Celia. With that scar on her face, he found her completely unworthy of Nathaniel Fu. A man like Nathaniel deserved a goddess, not a backwater girl with a reputation for causing trouble.

Wen Shaoqian raised an eyebrow. "I saw the way Nathaniel looked at her just now. I've never seen him look at any woman like that."

Zane scoffed. "She's hideous. She must be scheming—using tricks to seduce him. I honestly don't understand why he'd even support her."

Wen Shaoqian chuckled, "Maybe he wants to be seduced by her. He's been surrounded by beautiful women his whole life, and none of them could keep his attention. But this girl… well, let him do what he wants. It's his money."

With that, Wen Shaoqian left.

But Zane still wasn't convinced.

He wandered down the corridor, just in time to run into someone he recognized—Vanessa.

Vanessa, as always, looked stunning. She was dressed to the nines and wore a subtle smile on her red lips. "Mr. Song," she called sweetly, "is Mr. Fu willing to meet me?"

Zane and Vanessa were already acquainted. He was a well-known thrill-seeker, especially when it came to racing. About a year ago, he'd been in a serious crash during a race abroad. Vanessa had just happened to be nearby and was the one who rushed him to the hospital.

The doctors later told him that if he'd arrived any later, he might've been paralyzed.

Zane had tried to repay her at the time, but Vanessa had simply smiled and said, "It's my duty to help someone in need." That had left a deep impression on him.

Since then, Vanessa hadn't contacted him—until recently, when she'd asked him to introduce her to Nathaniel Fu.

So, Zane had brought it up earlier in the private room. But clearly, Nathaniel hadn't shown any interest.

"My second brother isn't seeing anyone tonight," Zane said, trying to be polite. "I'll try again another time."

Vanessa looked disappointed for a second, but quickly masked it with a gentle smile. She knew exactly how to handle such moments. "I understand. Please don't trouble yourself. I really just admire Mr. Fu."

Zane liked her a lot. To him, someone as kind and graceful as Vanessa was truly worthy of Nathaniel.

Unlike that clown-faced girl.

"I'll keep an eye out for the right opportunity," he promised. "Oh, and I heard you're aiming to be the face of Fu's Jewelry campaign? Don't worry. That spot is yours. No one else can take it."

"Thank you, Mr. Song."

"I'll be heading out now."

Zane walked away, and Vanessa watched his back with a sly smile playing on her lips.

A moment later, her two supermodel friends came hurrying over.

"Vanessa, didn't you say you were going to the restroom? What are you doing out here?"

"Oh, I went already. Just stepped out for a moment."

"It's such a pity we didn't get to meet the mysterious head of the Fu family."

"Let's be real—someone like him is way out of our league," one of them said with a sigh.

Vanessa listened to their chatter, the corners of her lips curving slightly in disdain.

They really think they're in the same league as me?

None of these people were her true competition tonight. The only one that had caught her attention… was that so-called "clown girl" from the countryside.

Curious, Vanessa stepped outside the Song Hotel—and that's when she saw her.

Celia.

She was standing by the roadside, speaking to a pot-bellied, middle-aged man.

Is that the big shot she managed to hook?

Vanessa narrowed her eyes, took out her phone, and with a soft click—snapped a photo.
