Chapter 245 - The Man-Eating Oni

Chapter 13 – The Man-Eating Oni

Watanabe Miki stared down at the girl in her grasp—Yukinoshita Yukino—with a twisted look of satisfaction on her face.

It didn't matter that Yukino was the second daughter of the prestigious Yukinoshita family. Right now, in Miki's eyes, she was nothing more than a helpless lamb awaiting slaughter.

No strength to fight back. No escape. Just like how Miki had once felt—when she could do nothing but watch as her family crumbled before her eyes.

"Yukinoshita Yukino… the beautiful princess of Sobu High… the Ice Queen herself… How does it feel now? Scared, aren't you? Hahahaha~~"

Miki's laughter echoed through the apartment, high-pitched and filled with cruel delight. Her grip on Yukino's face tightened, fingers digging into soft skin.

Pain flared, and Yukino winced. But she couldn't move, couldn't fight. The force restraining her was far too overwhelming—inhuman even. The sheer abnormality of the situation, the mirror, the transformation—everything pointed to one conclusion.

The being before her was no longer human.

Possibly… a ghost?

"Keep squirming, Yukinoshita Yukino. Trash like you—ah, watching you struggle only makes this more enjoyable. But don't worry… I won't kill you too quickly. No. I'm going to eat you… slowly. Bit by bit. And I'll look you straight in the eyes while I do it."

Her voice dripped with sadism as she grinned, revealing rows of sharp, predatory teeth.

Those weren't human teeth. They looked like fangs—beastly, jagged, and terrifying when set in the face of what was once a normal woman.

Yukino continued to struggle, but her energy was draining fast.

Fear turned into despair. That cold, creeping sense of helplessness began to consume her from within.

All of this… was beyond anything she could comprehend. Watanabe Miki—this monster—wasn't just an enemy from her past. She was something else now. Something dark and cruel.

"I'll start with your arm. You'll get to watch as your flesh is torn apart—bit by bit. The pain, the fear… oh, I can't wait."

Still grinning, Miki grabbed Yukino's right wrist with her other hand and slowly guided it toward her open mouth—those glistening fangs awaiting their first bite.

"No… please… someone… anyone… help me…!"

Desperation filled her voice. She cried out with every ounce of strength she had left—not because she believed someone would hear, but because deep down, every human clings to hope.

Not out of faith in miracles, but from the desire to be saved.

And yet, her voice was unanswered. Her body refused to obey her will. Her hand—small and delicate—was slowly moving toward those monstrous jaws.

BAM!

A thunderous crash tore through the room.

Both Yukino and Miki froze.

Especially Miki.

That sound—someone had broken in.

Tap… Tap…

Footsteps approached, calm and deliberate.

Miki's face darkened, and her eyes flicked toward the source.

From the shadows, a figure slowly stepped into view.

She recognized him instantly.

Her expression twisted in disbelief. She hadn't expected him of all people to show up.

Yukino looked toward the figure too, dazed, her vision blurred from fear and exhaustion.

It wasn't her older sister.

It wasn't her mother.

The one who came to her rescue—

Was a boy she had mocked and belittled for years. The one she had dismissed without a second thought.

Yukinoshita Akira.

Moments earlier, Akira had sensed something was off.

A foul, rotting stench tickled his senses—not a literal odor, but something deeper. A primal disgust, a spiritual repulsion.

And that "stench" was coming from Yukino's apartment.

Driven by instinct, Akira broke in.

What he saw inside exceeded even his darkest expectations.

The proud Yukinoshita Yukino—held captive by a woman, or rather, a creature. One hand gripped Yukino's face, the other her wrist.

"…This smell… Don't tell me… you're an oni?"

His voice was cold, eyes sharp.

He wasn't asking out of curiosity. It was a confirmation.

The word "oni" here didn't refer to folklore spirits.

He was referring to the flesh-eating demons of the Demon Slayer world—beings created by Muzan Kibutsuji's blood. Creatures with monstrous strength, regenerative powers, and an insatiable hunger for human flesh. Many wielded unique powers known as Blood Demon Arts.

Akira stared at her with clarity. Deep in his heart, he already knew.

As a successor of Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the legendary Demon Slayer, his instincts were as keen as ever.

His nose never lied.

"…So, you know about oni?"

Watanabe Miki's voice trembled. Her mocking tone was gone.

She was shocked.

Oni weren't supposed to be known in this world. No ordinary person could recognize one. Those who did… were silenced.

"You really are an oni then," Akira muttered. "Seems this world isn't as simple as it looks."

He let out a quiet chuckle.

But it wasn't amusement—it was the thrill of a hunter spotting prey.

He wasn't Yoriichi, nor an official member of the Demon Slayer Corps. He had no vendetta against demons.

But if slaying an oni would awaken more of his inheritance…

Then this was a hunt worth taking.

"Yukinoshita Akira? Why are you here?"

Miki snapped. She couldn't understand why he, of all people, would come to Yukino's rescue. They hated each other, didn't they?

"Because your stench disgusts me," he replied simply. "So I came to take out the trash."

"…Disgusts you?"

That single word pierced Miki's pride.

No woman could accept being called disgusting.

Especially not one who believed she had transcended her humanity.

"…Then die!!"

With a furious roar, Miki hurled Yukino aside like a ragdoll.

Her eyes locked onto Akira—burning with hatred.

To her, both Yukino and Akira were just tonight's prey.

The order didn't matter.

One would scream.

The other would bleed.

And she would devour them both.
