Chapter 273: Tang San—Finished in One Punch
Slaughter City.
Leaving the Hell Killing Field, Qian Renchuan walked slowly back to his lodging. Since he survived that ambush of over two hundred people after one of his fights there, nobody in the Slaughter City dared to catch him off guard in that same manner again.
Well, almost nobody. Someone lurked in a corner—a person who planned to strike from the shadows: Tang San.
Recently, Tang San had encountered Qian Renchuan multiple times in the Hell Killing Field. Without fail, Qian Renchuan always unleashed a chilling killing intent toward him.
From the Tang Sect's Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record – General Rule Three: if an adversary is an enemy and shows signs of wanting to kill you, do not spare them. Otherwise, you're asking for trouble.
They were irreconcilable enemies. Since Qian Renchuan would inevitably target him sooner or later, Tang San reasoned he should strike first.
But his foremost concern was that Qian Renchuan, like himself, possessed twin spirits—and even had better ring configurations than his previous life. Last time, Tang San had been recognized by the Sea God. If in this life, the crucial Asura God inheritance that saved him ended up favoring Qian Renchuan…all would be lost.
No matter what, Qian Renchuan had to die!
Tang Sect's number-eight hidden weapon—Phoenix Launching Nine Hatchlings!
A purple light flickered—the weapon's payload was laced with deadly venom. Nine near-invisible projectiles launched from behind Tang San, fanning out like a young phoenix's tail feathers. They dropped from overhead, surrounding Qian Renchuan.
Phoenix Launching Nine Hatchlings possessed two main advantages: it was incredibly hard to detect upon firing, and it could unleash nine projectiles at once—each with tremendous power and speed, coated with potent poison. In the Slaughter City, this was a terrifying killer move. Once deployed, it almost invariably claimed nine lives.
Tang San himself wasn't sure how anyone could defend against all nine at once in the Slaughter City.
"Qian Renchuan, die!"
Tang San's pupils glowed purple as he watched the nine violet projectiles about to punch a dozen holes through Qian Renchuan. His gaze lit with excitement.
Soft Bone Rabbit soul bone skill—Invincible Golden Body!
A burst of golden light. In an instant, a transparent golden shell enveloped Qian Renchuan. The nine projectiles struck the Invincible Golden Body and were all deflected.
Qian Renchuan's eyes turned a purple-gold hue, seething with killing intent. He looked toward where the hidden assailant lurked in darkness—the one who had dared strike at him from the shadows.
Tang San cursed inwardly, his heart brimming with rage. That was Xiao Wu's soul bone skill! This bastard!
Having suffered multiple defeats now—and seeing the Tang Sect hidden weapons fail again—Tang San dared not engage Qian Renchuan head-on. He slipped away, weaving through alleys, hoping to flee. He recalled all too well Qian Renchuan's fearsome, almost demonic melee prowess, first witnessed at the Soto City Great Spirit Arena, and again during the advancement matches in the All-Continent Advanced Spirit Master Academy Tournament, where Qian Renchuan had KO'd Dai Mubai with just two punches.
Shing–shing–shing!
Streaks of cold light flew, employing the Batwing Reincarnation hidden-weapon technique. Thanks to his Purple Demon Eye, Tang San spotted that these were Blue Silver Grass leaf blades. He vaulted, planting one foot on the wall of a narrow alley to dodge.
Shing–shing–shing–shing–shing–shing!
More blades whirred toward him, again following the Batwing Reincarnation pattern. Tang San kept sprinting, ducking aside, while his eyes frantically scanned for Qian Renchuan. He wanted to discern the opponent's firing position so he could respond. But he couldn't find it at all.
The enemy was in the shadows; he was out in the open. The rhythm was entirely under Qian Renchuan's control, employing Tang Sect hidden-weapon techniques against Tang San himself.
For Tang San—once the pinnacle of hidden-weapon masters and a control-type spirit master—this was humiliating and infuriating to the extreme.
"A dead-end alley!"
Tang San arrived before a cul-de-sac enclosed by three walls over ten meters high. At last, he realized that Qian Renchuan's plan was to force him into this spot, cornering him with no escape.
"Get out of here! Don't you see this granddaddy's busy?!"
Three fallen ones were here, assaulting a woman who was stripped naked. The sight was so repulsive it turned the stomach. In different circumstances, Tang San would have killed these degenerate animals, but now he just wanted to leave. He turned to go, but before he could move, someone stepped into the passage.
He was tall, clad in blue-gold combat attire, handsome of face, with flowing blue-gold hair trailing down his back—murder in his eyes.
"Are you deaf? Didn't you hear this granddaddy tell you to scram?"
One of the fallen, his face puffy with fat, stopped in mid-act without even pulling up his pants. Seeing how strikingly good-looking the newcomer was, his fierce expression faded into blank astonishment. "Shura King!"
The other two, still in the midst of "action," also froze.
"Shura King!"
"Shura King! We—we're leaving, right now."
Pants half-down, they abandoned the woman and fled.
Qian Renchuan felt a surge of disgust. Ordinarily, he'd kill these three for cultivation "resources," but his target was Tang San—armed with Tang Sect methods and hidden weapons. His Invincible Golden Body could only be used three times a day, and each time counted. He wouldn't waste it.
As for the woman—who knew how many men had violated her? She no longer had the strength to dress or protect herself, collapsed limply on the ground.
Tang San raised the Clear Sky Hammer in one hand, his other gripping a Zhuge Divine Crossbow, eyes riveted on Qian Renchuan. Tension coiled in every muscle.
Qian Renchuan sneered. His legs tensed, stepping into Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track. In a flash, he vanished.
"Too fast!"
With the thirty-thousand-year head bone Tang Xiao gave him, Tang San could barely track Qian Renchuan's movements, but he had no time to prepare further. Eager to conserve his hidden weapons, he fired three bursts from the Zhuge Divine Crossbow—forty-eight bolts in total.
Qian Renchuan let out a cold snort. Wings sprouted from his back—once snowy white but now tinged with red—the Two-Winged Angel. His speed redoubled, and he disappeared entirely from Tang San's view. The sheer coldness of his killing intent hammered Tang San's heart.
"All in One, Kill!"
Tang San planted his feet, twisting at the waist to unleash the Clear Sky Nine Absolutes: the "Kill" technique. His body seemed to split into six, each swinging a Clear Sky Hammer. The combined force encased him in a 360-degree layer of hammer strikes.
One of those hammer sweeps clipped the helpless woman. Her arm burst apart, half her life gone in an instant.
Boom!
There was a deafening impact. Qian Renchuan halted right in front of Tang San, body arched like a drawn bow, his fist radiating snowy-white light. He punched straight through one-sixth of the Clear Sky Hammer's force and struck Tang San's face.
