Chapter 244: Dark Heaven Wave Eye!
Snap!
The gate of the Demon-Sealing Tower swung open.
A golden chain shot out, lashing at the incoming wave slash like an iron whip.
In an instant,
the slash was shattered, its wave energy dispersed and absorbed by the golden chain, then dragged into the tower as nourishment.
"It's the Demon-Sealing Tower! The Marines' golden-tier reward!"
Beckman's expression turned grim.
The aura emitted from that golden chain was terrifying—just being near it evoked a fear that stirred from the depths of the soul.
That was the tower's skill:
Demon-Locking Chains.
The bane of all evil beings—
the stronger one's malicious thoughts, the stronger the chain's suppression.
No one's heart is completely pure.
Even Shanks, though noble, wasn't without flaws: anger, jealousy, doubt—all gave rise to evil thoughts.
Compared to true villains like Blackbeard, his were faint,
but still enough to be sensed by the chains.
And now—
the Asura Evil Light Slash that had drained most of Shanks' energy had been destroyed and consumed,
its wave energy turned into fuel for the Demon-Sealing Tower.
Inside was a Purification Pool,
where all captured villains and absorbed attacks were converted into pure energy streams—
essentially, experience points.
With this ability, Marine Headquarters could rapidly train new players.
"What a great item. It would be perfect for the Whitebeard Pirates."
Whitebeard stared jealously at the towering golden structure, the envy nearly pouring from his eyes.
The Whitebeard Pirates and the Revolutionary Army, having retreated,
immediately began blocking reinforcements after hearing the eastern line had fallen to Shanks.
Vice Admiral Tsuru paced anxiously, but had no immediate solution.
If the Navy's forces focused too much on Shanks,
Whitebeard or the Revolutionaries might seize the chance to break through another wall.
"If we had enough reward points, the first thing to do would be upgrading the family wall…"
Tsuru groaned, a trace of regret in her heart.
If only some reward points had been saved for wall upgrades,
they might've held off the other two factions long enough to annihilate Shanks.
But now—
the fragile wall couldn't buy them that precious time.
"The Game Intelligence Division must recruit the Navy's sharpest minds to analyze all data on the Reincarnation Game!"
She rubbed her temples.
Taking advantage of the Marine Giant Corps, she continued pushing back Whitebeard's crew,
slowly limiting their movement.
Whitebeard's crew avoided direct confrontation,
dragging the fight out to delay any support from reaching Kizaru.
The Revolutionary Army used the same strategy—
driving Garp into a rage.
Tsuru frowned with worry.
"If we had prioritized the wall's importance, we wouldn't be in this vulnerable position. Let's hope the Demon-Sealing Tower can hold off Shanks."
Always the master strategist,
she was now paying the price for not fully understanding the Reincarnation Game.
Hence, the Intelligence Division had to be elevated in priority.
"Should we retreat, Captain?"
Breaking through the tower's defenses would be extremely difficult.
Still,
the Red-Haired Pirates had proven their strength.
Even if they didn't destroy the Marine family, they were the first to breach a Level-2 family's defenses.
Not even the Revolutionary Army or Whitebeard had managed that.
Shanks shook his head. "Not enough."
"Captain, what are you trying to do?"
Beckman couldn't understand.
They weren't the type to chase glory. They pursued freedom—so why was Shanks being so stubborn?
Shanks said firmly,
"We haven't shown the world enough."
Even if they broke the eastern line,
the Marines remained mostly unharmed.
Damaged walls could be repaired with materials and reward points.
If that was the outcome, then all they had done was meaningless.
"Captain, sometimes I really want to crack your head open and see if it's made of paste or seawater."
Beckman clenched his jaw, biting his cigar in half and swallowing the scraps.
"But if that's the captain's order… then we'll follow it."
"Buy me some time."
With those words, Shanks stood motionless.
A faint wave energy circled around him,
as if he were charging a powerful ability.
"It's weak, but… there's something dangerous about it. Is he preparing a powerful move?"
Kizaru sensed the shift in Shanks' aura.
In the One Piece world, there were also charge-type abilities—
like the King of Prodence, who could unleash the mighty King Punch after gathering power.
Of course, "shaking the world" was an exaggeration.
Still, the longer a move charged, the more destructive it became.
"What a pain. Can't let you succeed."
Kizaru dropped his teasing attitude, removed his tinted glasses, and carefully pocketed them.
He turned into golden light, blasting toward the unmoving Shanks.
"Don't move, Kizaru!"
Beckman, coated in Armament Haki, tried to intercept the golden flash.
But it passed through him.
"Impressive Haki, but too bad—what I'm using now isn't just the Glint-Glint Fruit.
It's a magic lancer's technique!"
Kizaru's glowing figure reformed.
He gripped his golden spear tightly.
With a sweep, he launched a strike from ground to sky—
the golden blaze mixed with shattered rocks rained down on Shanks.
"You've got guts, charging straight into the Red-Haired Pirates alone."
Limejuice used his hair-manipulating powers to form a shield, blocking the attack for the captain.
Boom.
A high-caliber explosive shell hit Kizaru in the chest.
"Gunner?"
Kizaru winced.
He raised his spear just in time.
The explosion blasted him back dozens of meters, breaking his golden spear in two.
Some Marines had taken the Gunner class—
a long-range specialization with ridiculous firepower.
Their weakness?
They were vulnerable up close.
Even so,
Kizaru wasn't distracted. A seasoned admiral wouldn't fall for such tricks.
Falling Hawk.
Golden flames engulfed him as he soared high—
then crashed down like a meteor aimed at Shanks.
"Not good!"
Beckman leapt after him, trying to intercept.
Kizaru had high mobility and top-tier speed.
He couldn't be stopped so easily.
"Whatever that move is… let's end it here. Enough trouble!"
The golden meteor plummeted.
But just before reaching Shanks—
a sudden burst of wave energy tore it to shreds.
Shanks' eyes were still blindfolded.
And yet—
The wave world, normally visible only through Mind's Eye, appeared in the real world.
From Shanks' position,
a surge of incredibly dense wave energy spread outward—
like a black veil blanketing reality.
