Chapter 116 - CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN: The Curse Of Ile-Ife

When they emerged on the other side, they found themselves standing in a desolate landscape. The air was thick with an eerie, oppressive darkness that seemed to cling to their skin. The ground beneath their feet was dry and cracked, and the sky above was a deep, foreboding grey. In the distance, they saw the outline of a city, its towers and spires shrouded in shadow.

The group gazed around, taking in the bleak surroundings. Mike's eyes narrowed, his face set in determination. Amina's expression was grim, her eyes scanning the horizon for any signs of danger. Gidado's grip on the Dark artifact tightened, his eyes fixed on the city in the distance.

The sorceress's voice echoed in their minds, "You have reached Ile-Ife. Now, go forth and fulfill your destiny. Use the artifacts to bring light and hope to it people, and to free the king from his curse."

With a sense of purpose, the group set off towards the city. As they walked, they noticed the signs of despair and darkness that seemed to permeate every aspect of the landscape. They saw the remnants of buildings, worn down by time and neglect.

"We have a long way to go," Mike said, his voice filled with resolve. "But we're ready. We've come too far to turn back now."

The group nodded in agreement, their faces set with determination. They knew that their journey was far from over, but they were ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

As they approached the city, they saw that it was surrounded by high walls, with guards stationed at the gates. The group's eyes locked onto the guards, their faces set with a mix of caution and determination.

"What do we do now?" Amina asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

"We need to get inside the city," Gidado replied, his eyes fixed on the gates. "We have a king to free, and a people to help."

As they approached the city gates, the group's eyes locked onto the guards, who eyed them warily. The guards stood tall, their tattered uniforms hanging loosely on their gaunt frames. Their faces were etched with exhaustion, their eyes sunken and their skin pale. The group's footsteps echoed off the walls as they drew closer, the sound seeming to reverberate through the desolate atmosphere.

The guards stepped forward, their hands resting on the hilts of their swords. Their movements were slow and deliberate, as if they were conserving energy. One of them growled, his voice rough from disuse, "Halt! Who are you?" His eyes narrowed, his gaze flicking between the group members.

Mike took a step forward, his eyes locked onto the guards. His face was set with determination, his jaw clenched in resolve. "We're travelers," he said, his voice calm and measured. "We've come to help the people of Ile-Ife." Amina stood beside him, her eyes scanning the guards with a mixture of caution and curiosity. Gidado's face was set in a determined line, his grip on the Dark artifact tightening as he stepped forward.

The guards exchanged skeptical glances, their faces reflecting a mix of doubt and curiosity. One of them repeated, "Help?" his tone dripping with skepticism. "What could you possibly do to help us?" Their eyes seemed to bore into the group, as if searching for any sign of weakness.

Gidado stepped forward, the Dark artifact glowing softly in his hand. His face was set with conviction, his eyes locked onto the guards. "We have the power to bring light and hope to this land," he said, his voice filled with determination. "And we're here to free the king from his curse." The guards' eyes widened as they took in the sight of the artifacts, their faces reflecting a mix of fear and wonder.

One of the guards, Chimobi, stepped forward, his hand extended. His face was gaunt, his eyes sunken, but his expression seemed to hold a glimmer of hope. "I'm Chimobi," he said, his voice a little softer. "I've been stationed here for months. We've had... strange occurrences happening within the city. People going missing, strange noises at night... We've tried to investigate, but it's like the darkness itself is working against us."

Amina's eyes narrowed, her face set with concern. "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice low and urgent. Chimobi hesitated, glancing around nervously, before leaning in closer. "I think it's the curse," he said quietly. "It's spreading, infecting the city." The group's faces set with determination, their eyes locked onto Chimobi's. They knew that they had to act fast, before the curse consumed the entire city.

"We need to get inside," Gidado said, his voice firm. "We have to find a way to lift the curse and free the king." Chimobi nodded, his eyes locked onto the group's. "I can help you," he said. "I know a way into the city, a secret passage that will avoid the main gates. But you have to be careful. The city is full of dangers, and the king's guards are not what they used to be."

The group exchanged looks, their faces set with resolve. They knew that they had to trust Chimobi, and that they had to act fast. "Let's do it," Mike said, his voice filled with determination. With Chimobi leading the way, the group slipped through the secret passage and into the heart of the city.
