I don't know what gave us the courage to do what we did, but we did it. We insulted Cooper. After ending the call with him, I felt a surge of joy within me.
Ruby started to laugh, and I joined her.
"They'll kill you tomorrow," she giggled.
"You're not safe either," I retorted as we laughed.
"Oh, Willa is coming," I noticed Willa approaching.
"She probably got a call from Cooper. Does she want to take us to him?" Ruby gasped.
I gasped as well.
"Let's escape; we can't let her find us."
"Yes." I grabbed my purse, and she held her handbag. We sneaked out through the opposite side and ran toward the roadside.
A taxi stopped just in time for us, so we rushed inside.
"Where to, ma'am?" the driver asked.
"Just go; take us away from here," I urged him.
The driver started the cab and drove for five minutes before stopping.
"Where would you like to go now?" he inquired.
"We..." Ruby and I exchanged glances, trying to think of a destination.
