Chapter 338 - Chapter 338: Back Office

In the Xianglutan villa, Chen Mo, his parents, Xiao Yu's family, and a family of three—ten people in total—sat around a round table, having breakfast together.

It had been four days since the attack. Thanks to Xiao Yu's body being enhanced through the potential agent, her recovery was remarkably fast. Just yesterday, she had been discharged from the hospital and was now recuperating at home under the care of private doctors and nurses.

Chen Mo had chosen not to return to his previous villa. Too many people knew that address—reporters had been lurking nearby, making it unsafe and inconvenient. This new location offered complete security: intelligent and manual patrols, discreet domestic staff, intelligent robots, and a quiet environment—ideal for healing.

Xiao Yu's wound was recovering well. Although not completely healed, she was already in stable condition. Her complexion had returned to normal, save for the gauze still wrapped around her arm.

Seeing Xiao Yu's recovery, the family members finally felt relieved.

"Xiao Mo," said Chen Shanhe during breakfast, "now that Xiao Yu's doing better, your mom and I feel reassured. We've been here long enough. A bit bored, too. Today, I'll head back to Huacheng with Xiao Yu's dad, and your mom will come along. I'll restock the seafood supply and send some over later to help Xiao Yu recover."

"Dad, we're not short on money. You've already handed over the supermarket to others to manage. You don't need to worry about that," Chen Mo replied. He wasn't entirely at ease—the attackers had come for him. There was no telling if someone might target his family next.

"I've been busy my whole life. Doing nothing now would make me sick," Shanhe said with a chuckle. "If you and Xiao Yu would just give me a grandchild already, maybe then I could finally relax."

Everyone around the table burst into laughter. Chen Mo and Xiao Yu exchanged helpless smiles. They knew his words came from love, and any protest was pointless.

Chen Mo took out the three black access cards and keychains Li Chengzhi had given him. "These are for the residences in the Huacheng Military Region compound. Go back and move in. It's a safe and comfortable place."

The homes inside that compound were highly sought after—not something money could buy.

The three men exchanged glances, then accepted the keys and cards. After what had happened, security had become a priority. With Chen Mo's current status, there was always a chance someone would try to exploit his loved ones to get to him. So they understood his intentions and didn't argue.

"I'll stay a few more days to help take care of Xiao Yu," said Shao Xuemei. "Once she's fully recovered, we'll return."

Chen Mo nodded. "Alright."

After breakfast, Chen Shanhe, He Zhenhua, and Zhang Yang headed back to Huacheng. Zhang Xinxin returned to school. Chen Mo's mother, Xiao Yu's mother, and Xiao Man stayed behind to look after Xiao Yu.

"Mo Ge, we've identified the attackers," came Mo Nu's voice.

While the family chatted in the living room, she appeared and informed Chen Mo of the news.

At that moment, a flicker of cold light passed through Chen Mo's eyes. His expression darkened instantly.

"Chen Mo, what's wrong?" Xiao Yu asked softly, noticing the sudden shift in his mood.

"Nothing." Chen Mo forced a relaxed smile. "Something came up at the company—I need to step out for a bit."

"Go on," Xiao Yu said gently. "Don't hover over me all day. Mom and Xiao Man are here, and some of our friends might come by too. I won't be bored."

"Alright, but don't go out yet—the sea breeze won't help your recovery."

"I know." Xiao Yu smiled, glanced at the two mothers who were focused on the TV, then quickly leaned forward and kissed his cheek. "Go do your thing. I'll be good."

"Sis, is my brother-in-law's cheek sweet or what?" Xiao Man grinned, flopping onto the couch beside Xiao Yu with a bag of snacks, reaching over to pinch her sister's face.

"You were peeking?" Xiao Yu laughed.

"Nope. I watched openly."

When Chen Mo arrived at the Marching Ant Company headquarters, the employees were visibly delighted to see him and greeted him warmly.

Over the past few days, Chen Mo had stayed completely out of the public eye. Despite Zhao Min's statement that he was safe, rumors had continued to swirl—was he injured? In recovery? Under police investigation?

Now, four days after the attack, Chen Mo's return shattered those doubts.

He was the spiritual pillar of the Marching Ant Company. His accident had thrown the entire company into unease. Now that he was back, morale surged. Internal company chat groups lit up with the news, and cheers spread across branches and subsidiaries.

Unaware of the uplifting effect his return had caused, Chen Mo had just entered his office when Zhao Min arrived with Wang Hai, Black Hawk, and several bodyguards in tow.

"Boss," Wang Hai greeted, bowing his head in guilt. The others followed suit like scolded children.

They hadn't been able to protect Chen Mo or Xiao Yu. In their eyes, it was a failure.

"How's Pearl doing?" Chen Mo asked.

Over the last few days, he had visited the injured and the families of the deceased. Anan had taken two bullets but was recovering well. White Pearl, however, had taken a shot near the heart and had been unconscious even after passing the critical stage.

"She just woke up this morning. The doctor says she's in good shape and recovering well," Wang Hai replied.

Their potential-enhanced bodies gave them higher resilience. That was the only reason White Pearl had survived.

"This incident is my fault," Wang Hai said seriously. "I failed to protect you and Miss Xiao Yu. I take full responsibility."

"You did everything you could. None of us expected that fire to be a trap. Don't blame yourselves," Chen Mo said, shaking his head. He turned to Zhao Min. "What about Awei's family? Were the arrangements completed?"

Zhao Min nodded. "Following your instructions, each family received eight million yuan in compensation and a job placement."

The bodyguards nearby bowed deeply.

The fallen had been their comrades and brothers. Knowing their families had been taken care of gave them immense gratitude—and peace of mind should the same fate befall them.

"Alright, return to your posts. I need to speak with the president privately."

Wang Hai and the others bowed again before quietly leaving the office.

Zhao Min stayed behind.

"The factory side has been taken care of—medical expenses and compensations all sorted," she reported. "Also, the police informed us that they identified the suspect who started the dormitory fire—Yan Wenbin, the head of a production line. He was tempted by a debt payoff and has been charged with intentional homicide. Our legal team is already on it."

Chen Mo's face darkened at the news, but he merely nodded.

Zhao Min had never seen him this furious. His anger simmered silently with no outlet.

"How's Xiao Yu doing now?"

"She's recovering well. Should be completely healed soon."

"That's good. I'll visit her after work. I'll be heading back for now."

"Alright."

After Zhao Min left, Chen Mo finally sat down at his desk.

From the moment the attack occurred, he'd had Mo Nu investigate the attackers. The information had come in quickly—but today, the results were finally conclusive.

He was done waiting.

Chen Mo's eyes sharpened, voice cold.

"Mo Nu, pull up their full identities."
