Chapter 314: Graduation
At this moment, Bróg, the leader of the Dunlendings, looked like a child who had made a mistake, his face flushed red with embarrassment.
"I'm sorry, my lord. I was in such a hurry that I forgot."
"Alright, make it again. I'll watch you do it." Kael wasn't angry. He simply waved his hand, summoning a spare cauldron and another set of potion ingredients.
He wanted to see if Bróg could brew even a simple potion correctly.
After half an hour, everyone else had already finished their potions. The quality varied, but they all barely met the standards. Kael looked at the potion Bróg had made the second time: a pungent, yellow-green liquid that looked decidedly wrong.
He took a deep breath and asked quietly, "Bróg, can you tell me what this is?"
Bróg looked at his seemingly calm lord, sensing something dangerous, and carefully ventured, "A Boil-Cure Potion?"
Kael's temple twitched.
He finally understood Snape's feelings. If anyone had to deal with students like this repeatedly, they too would become irritable and grim-faced.
But seeing Bróg's anxious expression, Kael could only sigh and wave his hand. "Alright, that's enough. Just remember not to blow up the cauldron in the future, or you'll have to buy your own."
Kael had given up. He had watched Bróg follow his instructions step by step. Yet the final result was a pot of unknown, pungent liquid. This could only mean one thing: his subordinate, Bróg, leader of the Dunlendings and the strongest warrior, had no talent for Potions.
The only comfort was that, apart from Bróg, everyone else made no major mistakes. The potions they produced had many impurities, but they were still considered successful.
Kael wasn't surprised. They were all adults, so they were naturally more reliable than first-year students at Hogwarts.
Therefore, out of 543 people, over three hundred portions of the Boil-Cure Potion were usable. Kael stored all these potions in the infirmary for future needs. With these students as assistants, he thought he would never lack potions.
Besides Potion Class, Kael also taught Transfiguration. There weren't too many surprises, but everyone's talent varied.
A few individuals showed good Transfiguration talent, successfully completing transformations after a few attempts. Kael made a mental note of these individuals, planning to train them further in Transfiguration.
The Magic Crash Course curriculum was intensive, consisting of four classes in the morning, four in the afternoon, and two in the evening, each fifty minutes long. It directly matched the intensity of college entrance exam preparation.
The goal was to cram magical knowledge into their minds in the shortest possible time, allowing them to improve rapidly.
With so many classes, Kael couldn't attend every single one, nor did he want to overwork Arwen. So for most of the time, classes were taught by their portraits, which possessed the same knowledge and memories as they did.
Kael only appeared for certain risky subjects to oversee everything and prevent magical accidents.
To Kael's surprise, Bróg, who had shown no talent in Potions, was exceptionally gifted in Charms. He performed particularly well in offensive magic.
Others showed talent in Herbology, and still others excelled in Transfiguration. The group was well-rounded despite their varying aptitudes.
Teaching time passed quickly.
A year had gone by. It was now March 2950.
All the students of the Magic Crash Course were about to graduate this year. During this year, all students underwent high-intensity learning, compressing all the knowledge of Charms, Transfiguration, Potions, and Herbology from first to seventh year into one.
When they grew tired, they were provided with energy potions, exhilaration potions, and other elixirs to keep them alert. They also received water brought back from Hildórien, the birthplace of humanity, which could eliminate fatigue and invigorate the spirit.
Thus, the students of the Magic Crash Course worked with fierce determination and maintained peak performance. This intensive teaching method proved remarkably effective.
By now, all students had basically mastered common charms. Their magical proficiency had reached the level of an ordinary wizard in the magical world.
Currently, the students are undergoing Apparition assessments under Kael and Arwen's supervision.
On the wide, flat lawn of the castle, Kael waved his wand and drew two circles on the grass, instructing students one by one to Apparate from one circle to the other.
Everyone yearned for this instantaneous travel magic, so they eagerly participated. However, their performances varied greatly.
Some only lost an eyebrow or a lock of hair. Others lost body parts, such as a fingernail, a finger, or an ear.
The most severe cases resulted in half a body appearing in the other circle, while the other half remained in its original spot.
This terrifying sight made the surrounding onlookers turn pale, certain the person was about to die.
The person who had Splinched was also terrified, screaming uncontrollably. "Ah! I'm going to die! I'm going to die! I don't want to die!"
"Alright, alright! It's just Splinching. You won't die," Kael said calmly.
Kael himself looked completely unfazed, swiftly waving his wand to reattach the separated body halves and repair them with magic.
The young man, certain he was dying, looked at his reassembled body with surprise and relief.
The other onlookers were equally astonished. Although Kael had mentioned Splinching before, seeing it firsthand was shocking. Normally, such an injury would be fatal, but with magical means, it was just a minor problem.
This realization shocked everyone while making them yearn for magic even more.
After entrusting the Splinched person to Arwen for comfort to prevent psychological trauma, Kael continued arranging Apparition training for others.
After three months of training, all students successfully mastered Apparition.
At this point, the Magic Crash Course officially graduated.
Kael had different arrangements for each student.
Bill, who had inherited Kael's wand-making craftsmanship, officially became a wandmaker, specializing in making wands. Kael also selected a talented student and taught him the craftsmanship of broomstick-making. This student would henceforth be responsible for making broomsticks for flying and for forming Quidditch teams.
He selected several older students to establish a Floo Powder production workshop, which they would manage to produce Floo Powder.
He selected several students with exceptional talent in Potions and Herbology to continue their advanced studies in the castle, where they were responsible for creating potions and tending the herb garden.
Finally, from the remaining students, Kael selected one hundred outstanding individuals to form the Aurors.
Led by Bróg, they would serve as Kael's special forces, responsible for safeguarding the security of Hogsmeade, Bree, and Isengard. They would handle serious magical incidents that ordinary people couldn't manage, pursue and apprehend enemies, counter invaders, and undertake other crucial tasks protecting the realm.
