Chapter 302 - Chapter 302: Becoming a Wizard

Kael didn't answer his question first, but looked at him standing in the cauldron covered in blood.

"Scourgify!" Wrinkling his nose at the metallic scent of blood, he waved his hand, clearing away all the blood on Edward's body and the residual liquid in the cauldron.

Then he summoned Edward's clothes and tossed them into the cauldron.

"Get dressed first."

He didn't want to see a naked man climbing out of the cauldron.

After Edward dressed and climbed out of the cauldron, Kael discovered this fellow had not only become more robust but also grown taller.

Watching him approach nervously with an anxious expression, Kael took out a wand from his pocket and handed it to him.

"Try casting with this."

Looking at the wand before him, Edward was very careful and reverent, as if receiving some priceless, fragile treasure.

With anxious and uneasy feelings, he gripped the wand and, following the specific waving motion, waved it.

"Lumos!"

Watching Edward's standard wand movement, Kael raised an eyebrow.

The next second, a little light appeared at the wand tip, but soon, like a poor connection, it flickered and quickly extinguished.

But this result made Edward extremely excited. His voice trembled as if dreaming, eyes reddening as he looked at Kael.

"My lord, did I just succeed?! Or am I dreaming?!"

Kael, seeing his expression, also recalled the moment he first awakened to magic. He smiled and nodded.

"Congratulations, you just successfully cast magic. You're a wizard now!"

In Kael's magical perception, Edward had, due to fusing with the fire dragon bloodline, formed a magic circulation in his body.

Though his magic power wasn't particularly high, even less than that of ordinary elves, he was still a wizard possessing magic power.

Hearing Kael's confirmation, Edward finally believed it wasn't an illusion. Overcome with emotion, tears streamed down his face.

Holding the wand, he continuously waved the Lumos charm.

He watched the wand tip light up continuously, his smile growing wider.

Then he tried another spell. "Incendio!"

As soon as he spoke, surging flames uncontrollably burst forth, startling Edward. He hastily wanted to extinguish them, but didn't know how.

Kael paid no mind, casually waving to extinguish the flames.

He looked at Edward, who seemed to have done something wrong, shaking his head reassuringly. "Don't be nervous. Your spellcasting movements are very standard. It's just this wand isn't suitable for you, so the magic was uncontrolled."

"Moreover, because you fused with the fire dragon bloodline, you now have outstanding talent in fire magic. In the future, you can deeply study fire-type magic. Becoming a fire spell master isn't impossible."

Hearing Kael's encouragement, Edward immediately became excited.

Then Kael clapped his hands. "All right, now that you've successfully transformed, go to the library to read the most basic Standard Book of Spells. Moreover, I promised to craft a wand for you. Now I roughly know what materials to use."

"Thank you! Lord Kael, thank you! If not for you, I would've probably been eaten by trolls back then, let alone have this chance to become a wizard!" Edward knelt before Kael gratefully.

Kael, seeing his gratitude and loyalty, had no falsehood, was also pleased. He raised his hand to help him up. "All right, no need for such formalities. I know your loyalty. Since you now have magic, continue serving me well and guarding this castle."

"Yes!" Edward responded solemnly.

Over the following week, Kael also spent some time crafting a very suitable wand for Edward.

Twelve and a quarter inches, oak body, dragon heartstring core.

After obtaining his own wand, Edward immediately immersed himself in frantically studying magic.

Kael opened the library's magic books to him, also allowing him to inquire when encountering problems he didn't understand, either from him or his portraits.

Edward's progress was rapid. In just over a month, he mastered most basic charms.

Kael finally had a wizard steward.

Steward Edward, with magic, never left his wand. When directing castle servants, he always casually revealed his wand as if by accident.

Moreover, he became very helpful. Seeing servants cleaning and scrubbing, he always took out his wand with a wave, clearing away dust and stains, or lighting fireplaces, using Levitation Charms for high objects, repairing broken things.

So the news that Steward Edward became a wizard quickly spread throughout the castle, also spreading down the mountain.

Many who knew Edward knew he was previously just an ordinary person who couldn't use magic at all.

Now, suddenly transformed, this aroused many people's curiosity.

With Kael's permission, Edward also explained why he could become a wizard.

For a time, the idea that Kael could give ordinary people magic shocked many while making them yearn and desire.

After all, possessing magical abilities was something countless people dreamed of.

Many people yearned to receive Kael's favor, hoping to become wizards themselves.

Especially as Hogsmeade and Bree mayors, Luke and Butch immediately received this news and became excited.

They also wanted to become wizards and also wanted to wield those magical spells!

Now they had developed their respective cities to this point, already highly successful and powerful. They didn't lack status or power. The only thing that moved their hearts yet remained unattainable was the lord's magic.

Every time coming to the castle, that magical wonder shocked their hearts and souls, filling them with yearning.

Only they understood magic was innate, so they suppressed that desire, not pursuing such unrealistic fantasies.

But now Steward Edward had succeeded in transforming from an ordinary human into a wizard wielding magic.

This shocked them while also making them yearn simultaneously.

"You also want to become wizards?"

Kael looked at mayors Luke and Butch, who had coincidentally appeared before him, eyebrows slightly raised, saying somewhat surprised.

Luke seriously nodded. "My lord, I know this request is excessive, but I now have no other wishes. Only to experience magic's wonder and charm. I'm willing to pay any price!"

Butch also hastily agreed. "My lord, as long as I can become a wizard, I'm willing to give up my current mayor position and all my wealth, only begging your favor!"

Hearing Butch's words, Kael was even more surprised.

According to his knowledge, what Butch valued most in life was his wealth and power. Unexpectedly, now that he wanted to become a wizard, he willingly abandoned them.

This was truly rare!

Looking at the two kneeling before him with anxious expressions, Kael calmly examined them, the corners of his mouth slightly rising. "I can agree to your request."

But before they could rejoice, he added, "But to transform into wizards, you must endure pain ordinary people cannot bear. Completely excruciating."

He waved, showing Edward's transformation process before them.

"Even with such pain, will you still persist?"

Watching the scalding lava-like liquid in the cauldron and Edward's agonized screaming, blood-covered misery, both widened their eyes, involuntarily shuddering.

Wasn't this really cooking people? That visibly scalding temperature wouldn't it peel off a layer of skin, then cook them?

Though startled by this scene, Luke came to his senses first, still firmly resolute. "My lord, I'm willing to take this risk!"

Though Butch felt some retreat, upon seeing the surrounding magical phenomena, he immediately cut off his cowardice and stood firm. "My lord, as long as I can become a wizard, I'm also willing to take this risk!"

Hearing this, Kael dismissed the scene and smiled.

"Since you're so determined, then I'll agree to your request."
