Eleanor's POV
"Being completely new to adapting to my werewolf nature, I didn't know what to do with that information," I continued, my hands clasped tightly in front of me. "But I learned that the undead creatures on this track are born from enchantments. It stood to reason they could be countered by the same power. The weapons on our vehicles aren't always enough. I'd never used my abilities on the track before today. I only acted because my friend was in grave danger."
I looked directly at the skeptical faces. "I didn't tell anyone because I didn't think it was necessary, and it doesn't break any rule I'm aware of."
A man with a pinched face near the front spoke up. "What lineage are you from? Which enchantress bloodline?"
Oh, shit.
I couldn't tell them that. The name 'Shadowmere' would turn everything
upside down. "I… I'm not aware of my specific lineage yet," I said, forcing my voice to stay even. "But it shouldn't be difficult to find out." The lie tasted bitter.
