A whole month of nothing but the open sea. It was… exhausting and worse yet, he was slowly running out of material to transfigure into food. Overhaul could only be used on solid objects, so he couldn't use it on the seawater, which was why he had packed plenty of wood to later transform into food but after a month, even the generous stash of material was waning. His body required more food than it had on earth in order to maintain his superhuman physique. He hadn't spotted any islands where he could dock, so he rejoiced when he saw a marine ship on the horizon. He was planning to become a pirate anyways, so why not beat up some marines? He was itching to use his quirk in battle. This could be the first step in his journey, he would kill the one in charge and anyone who tried to stop him and then be on his way. The marines were all too happy to allow him on their ship, thinking he was just a lost civilian.
"Good thing we found you, did you get caught up in the storm a few days back?" The ensign in charge asked. He was a big muscular man with justice on his back. His hair was stark white and he only had one eye, the other one was a gaping hole.
"I did… now please die"
"What?"
Izu brushed his fingers across the man's arm and he exploded in a shower of blood.
"Ensign Bo?!" The marines around started fumbling for their weapons. Izu disassembled the ones who took up their arms, rushing between them, one touch enough to kill them. At the end of the massacre, only a few marines were left, those who hadn't lifted their weapons. They stared at him, soaked in blood and threw their weapons to the ground, "fuck this, we surrender!"
"Who are you? What are you?" One of them asked.
"The name is Zawa D. Izu and I ate a devil fruit. Don't know it's nam and honestly, I don't care. Remember my face, you will see it on my wanted poster soon enough, Tehuhuhu! Tehuhuhu!"
Izu walked through the ship, casually destroying locked doors with his quirk, till he found the ensign's quarters. There were maps, finally, something he could use to navigate! As he was looking over the map, a den den mushi began ringing, "peruperuperu!"
Izu picked it up.
"Ensign Bo, have you found the pirates you were tracking?" A rough voice sounded through the snail.
"Oh, Ensign Bo isn't available right now Tehuhuhu", Izu chuckled, "he is all over the place, on the mast, on the deck and also on my clothes"
"What? He is dead? Who are you?!"
"The Name is Zawa D. Izu and I am a pirate. I just killed your precious ensign and every other marine dog which dared raise their weapons at me"
"A new pirate? Ensign Bo, killed by a rookie? We will hunt you down, you pirate scum, justice will prevail"
"Oh, I'm counting on it", he hung up the den den mushi and gathered both money and materials like wood to be used later and positioned it on his ship.
He gave the mortified marines a mock salute as he sailed away, now with a map of the surrounding islands. It didn't take long for his first bounty to be sent across the east blue, 'Zawa D. Izu, dead or alive 3.000.000 berry'
A good start.
It took him another month to reach Foosha village on dawn island. When he arrived there, he immediately went to the party bar, where a sixteen year old kid with a strawhat was eating some meat.
"A cup of sake please", Izu pressed a few berry on the counter and Makino brought him over a cup, which he slowly sipped. Overhauled sake just didn't feel the same as the real thing.
"Hey kid, want to see something cool?" He glanced at Luffy, who grinned back, "sure!"
Izu touched the bar counter and created a little statue on it made out of wood, before turning it back to be part of the counter.
"Suge! That's so cool! Do you want to be part of my nakama?"
"You are a pirate kid?"
"I will be one in a month and I won't be just any old pirate, I'll be king of the pirates!"
"Oh? That's quite the dream but do you have the power to back it up?" He chuckled. Luffy at this point didn't look that impressive but that terrifying body of his was something else.
"Yeah, my punches are like pistols! Let me show you!" He ran outside and Izuk followed. They walked a few minutes before arriving in front of a tree, which Luffy punched, leaving a hole in the tree.
"How did you stretch like that?"
"I ate the gomu gomu no mi, I'm a rubber human! By the way, how did you make that sculpture? Did you eat a devil fruit too?"
"Yeah, i don't know its name though. You are quite strong, as this hole proves… I'll join your crew. The name is Zawa D. Izu, bounty of 3 million berry"
"You have a bounty already?! Suuuugee! Can you show me your wanted poster?"
"Sure", Izu pulled out his wanted poster, handing it to the over excited pirate king to be.
"Wow, it's true! Three million berry! Awesome! The first bounty in the crew! We have to celebrate! Let's go eat some more meat!" Luffy was running off back to the party bar and Izu chuckled, walking behind.
"Tehuhuhu… what a kid, I can't wait to meet the rest of the crew" he pondered, "I wonder how we will get along?"
His captain was already on his third piece of meat when Izu arrived at the bar.
"Meat for you too, I assume?"
"If it wouldn't be too much of a hassle, sure" he sat down and ate with his captain, "I have a ship we can take, I build it myself using my devil fruit"
"I will have to wait another month before i can set sail but that sounds good! Our first ship!"
