Since Jihl never left Bao Bei's side, his highly capable aide, chamberlain, and bodyguard—Gerald—took care of giving the necessary reports and preparing the room ahead of time.
On the table in the living room, there was a bowl of Bao Bei's favorite baked sweets. On the sofa, there were the same cushions he used to love piled up neatly.
"Wow! This is so nostalgic! Now it really feels like I'm back home!"
Bao Bei trotted over and threw himself onto the cushions on the sofa with a soft whump. His previously formal behavior was completely gone now. He buried himself in the pile of cushions, only his tail poking up and wiggling happily.
"Your Highness, I can't bear to watch this, so please stop grinning like that. Your face is falling apart—it's creepy."
Gerald said bluntly as he prepared the tea, directing the comment at Jihl.
"If it creeps you out, then don't look. Anyway, you can leave now."
