Ayesha shifted on the bed as her body gradually woke up, but an unsettling feeling lingered, as if she was being watched. Her eyes suddenly snapped open.
She jolted upright, heart pounding, when she saw a tall silhouette in the shadows near the window. However, her body quickly relaxed as she recognised it was Alaric, drawn by his familiar presence and intoxicating scent.
"It's just me," Alaric said with a steady tone. He moved closer, and the moonlight illuminated his sharp features, revealing his face clearly.
Ayesha's brows knit together. "What brings you here?" she inquired cautiously.
Alaric hesitated before responding. Instead, he subtly leaned forward, bringing his face nearer to hers. Ayesha froze, holding her breath at the sudden closeness.
