Chapter 46 - Chapter Forty-six

Sometimes, mornings in Moonhaven dazzle like gold. Or absorb sunlight like jade. But sometimes, mornings in Moonhaven can also just be an uncertain gray.

As Seamus and Sebastian charge Jenna, I feel as unsure about helping her as the morning that is dawning an uncertain gray. I and every member of my pack are all still very much hateful of the Hunters, particularly for Phil's death. Also, the fact that it was my father who did it makes me feel even more torn and confused inside.

Jenna has no chance against her brother and Seamus; all the traps, it seems, are inside the house; and the rest of the property is safe. So it is that Jenna gets only one shot off from her rifle—it could be that she had been some short distance away from the house, practicing with the weapon—before she is disarmed by the duo and swarmed.

'If they try to kill her, we'll intervene,' I tell the rest of my pack.
