Lyan didn't respond immediately, his expression still calm and measured. He let her chatter on, knowing the inevitable confrontation was coming. When they reached the door, he stopped, turning to face her fully.
"Don't be impatient," he said with a faint smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. "You'll see when we get there."
Tania, misinterpreting his words as an indulgent tease, smirked triumphantly. "I knew it! You've finally realized I'm the perfect match for you."
Lyan's expression didn't falter, though the corner of his jaw tensed briefly. "Let's just get going," he replied, opening the door and gesturing for her to step outside.
Tania strutted ahead, her confidence seemingly growing with every step. She glanced over her shoulder at Lyan, her tone laced with satisfaction. "I always knew you'd come around, Lyan. It was just a matter of time."
Lyan followed silently, his thoughts elsewhere. He couldn't wait to bring this charade to its conclusion.
The driver saw them approaching and quickly stepped out, opening the car door for Lyan.
Tania beamed, assuming this royal treatment was all part of the "date" Lyan had planned for her. She turned to him with a sly smile. "Always so thoughtful, Lyan. It's no wonder everyone admires you."
Lyan gave a polite nod but said nothing, gesturing for her to get into the car. "After you," he said calmly.
Tania stepped in with a confident flair, settling herself in the back seat as though she owned the world. Lyan followed, closing the door behind him, his face impassive as he instructed the driver. "Check the adress I just sent you."
He glanced behind as saw Mrs Jones placing the Tania's bag into her car and then turned to look at the driver again. "Tell one of the guard to drive Ms Robinson's car right behind us."
The driver nodded, glancing briefly at Lyan's composed but firm demeanor. He picked up his radio and relayed the instructions to one of the guards. Moments later, a second guard got into Tania's car, ready to follow behind.
Tania, oblivious to the subtle orchestration happening around her, leaned back in her seat, her confidence growing by the second. "By the way, Lyan, why does my car have to follow us?" Tania asked, her voice laced with curiosity and a hint of suspicion. She turned slightly to face him, her brow arched.
Lyan's expression remained calm, unreadable as he responded. "I thought it'd be more convenient for you later," he said simply, his tone neutral.
Tania's eyes narrowed slightly, but she forced a smile. "Convenient for what? You're being so mysterious today. Just tell me—where are we going? Aren't we going to come back?"
Lyan leaned back in his seat, clasping his hands together. "Patience, Tania," he said smoothly. "You'll find out soon enough."
The car ride continued in tense silence, with Tania occasionally glancing at him, clearly trying to read his thoughts.
Tania's voice was sharp, her confident demeanor faltering as she stared out the window. The car was pulling into a modest residential area, far from the upscale restaurants or luxury venues she had imagined. the car was moving towards her family's home.
Her eyes darted to Lyan, searching his face for an explanation. "Lyan, is this some kind of a joke?" she asked, her tone now tinged with unease. "Are you taking me home? So that's why you brought my car too!"
Lyan turned to her, his expression calm but firm. "No joke, Tania," he said, his voice steady.
Tania's face twisted in disbelief as she realized what was happening. Her confident facade crumbled as she sat upright, her voice rising. "So, it's true! it's actually true. You're actually taking me back to my parents' house? is that what it is, Lyan?"
Lyan's gaze remained steady, unwavering. "Exactly what it seems," he said simply. "I knew if I told you to leave you wouldn't listen to me. So it's true. I am taking you to your might father and tell him I am not marrying you."
Tania let out a bitter laugh, shaking her head. "You can't be serious. So you're not afraid of what my father can do to you of your business deals."
Lyan's expression didn't waver as he met Tania's defiant gaze. His tone remained calm, but there was a steel edge to his voice. "Your father's influence doesn't scare me, Tania. And that is even why I decided to face him as I return his daughter home."
Tania's expression darkened, her lips curling into a sneer. "You really think you can just walk into my father's house and tell him you're breaking off our engagement without consequences?" she spat, her voice dripping with venom. "You're playing with fire, Lyan. He will make you regret this."
"We will see about that," Lyan said, his voice calm but laced with finality. His gaze held hers, unyielding, as if daring her to challenge him further.
Tania glared at him, her frustration boiling over. "You think you're untouchable, don't you?" she hissed. "If you don't marry me, I will make sure you suffer. My father will destroy everything you've worked for!"
He said nothing as the car kept driving.
Mr. Robinson was in the middle of preparing to leave for an important meeting when one of the guards approached him with urgency. "Sir, Mr. Lyan has arrived. He's here with Ms. Robinson," the guard reported, his tone careful.
"Let them in!" He said.
The guard nodded and quickly relayed the message to the gatekeeper. Moments later, Lyan's car pulled into the grand driveway of the Robinson estate, with Tania's car following closely behind.
Mr. Robinson stood at the front entrance, his sharp eyes locked on the approaching vehicle. He was a man of power and influence, accustomed to having control over every situation, but the sight of his daughter and her fiancé arriving unannounced left him slightly unsettled.
Just yesterday, his daughter wanted to live badly with Lyan. Now she's back. It didn't make sense at all.
When Lyan's car came to a stop, the driver quickly got out and opened the car door for Lyan. Lyan stepped out of the car with his usual composure. He glanced briefly at Tania, who remained silent beside him, then turned to her side and opened the door for her.
Tania hesitated for a moment before stepping out of the car, her heels clicking against the pavement as she followed behind Lyan, still unsure of what was happening.
Mr Robinson entered the house as the two followed.
Inside the house, Mr. Robinson turned to face them, his gaze hardening as he spoke. "Explain yourselves," he said, his tone commanding, though not without a hint of concern.
Tania looked like she was about to speak, but Lyan interrupted her with a firm yet measured voice. "Mr Robinson, I brought your daughter because I wanted to make something clear."
