Chapter 150 - Nirik in the right place and time

Brog watched as Adam savored his meal. "It's been so long since I haven't tasted actual beef," Adam mused, then asked, "How did you even get the beef in the first place?"

"I believe you didn't notice much about the animals and wanted to save the humans" Brog explained. "Your magic, specifically the growth on plants, actually attracted animals around the region. They're mostly wild animals, and some domestic ones that escaped their farms."

"So the animals weren't affected by the virus?" Adam inquired.

"They were, however, they didn't turn into zombies but instead became immune," Brog replied. "We're able to eat their meat because we already carry the virus. So, most of the animals are kept in one of the sections to reproduce."

"It looks like the civilization will be in good hands to expand further," Adam conceded, "However, we'll be leaving soon, and we need manpower to fight the demon's forces."

"Don't worry about that, sir. I believe many will soon join you outside the walls. I will keep spreading the word to get more volunteers," Brog said, his respect for Adam and his team evident.

As Adam continued eating, a few men and women entered the tavern. "Is the hero here? We are joining the war!" one of the men shouted. Instantly, they spotted Adam and the others at the table. Everyone walked over and knelt on one knee, asking for a chance to fight alongside Adam, the hero.

"Rise, everyone," Adam spoke with determination. "I can see bravery in all of you. However, your lives are as important as this kingdom. I will train you all and only allow you into the war when you are prepared and trained. We don't have much time."

"Our lives are in your hands, please guide us. We will be your sword and shield. We pledge allegiance to you, hero," a person declared, expressing the sentiment shared by everyone.

A Timely Intervention and New Recruits

Adam quickly led everyone outside the walls, with Vlad standing guard. "We don't have weapons or armor to even make it a fair fight. How can we defeat their armies?" Adam voiced his concern via neuro-link, a thought that Azrael and Vlad also heard.

"It seems to be the right time to help you," Nirik suddenly appeared in a bright flash of light. Adam was surprised and happy to see him.

"I know you wouldn't listen about not using mana," Nirik stated.

"I know, I should have listened. However, if I didn't, many humans would have died in the process," Adam explained.

"Precisely why you're Adam, and I am here exactly at the right time," Nirik explained. "Open up your status and use this time to get what you need for the coming attack."

Lyra realized the connection: Adam's status screen meant they could access the shop, which would greatly increase their survival with mana weapons. However, it also meant Adam needed to carefully manage his resources to buy for the volunteers as well.

"Adam, we need to get weapons and armor for the people with us. It means we need to be careful not to overspend on expensive items," Lyra advised.

Just then, Johan returned. He saw the volunteers and Adam speaking to an odd person with horns. "Adam, thank you so much! My family is still alive! I'm here now to fight with you!" Johan exclaimed.

"Everyone, set up camp. This will be our starting point for our training. Get rested for the day and prepare for training," Adam commanded.

As Adam and Lyra prepared themselves to buy as many items as possible to help them fight off the invaders, the newly gathered volunteers began to set up camp.
